Not been a huge fan of Wretched, but this video is spot on. Telling others that adultery is sin and then enjoying movies glorifying such sin is hypocritical and makes a mockery of the Gospel and our witness. Same with music and movies glorifying lust, revenge, pride, rage, etc. If we are truly followers of Christ, these things should break our hearts, not entertain us.

This is actually crazy timing to see this.
I've been parting ways with my things, particularly forms of entertainment, over the past few weeks.
Why should I watch things that either hate the Lord, blaspheme Him casually in speech, or hate people who believe like I do? My money and my time can go elsewhere. If I want an adventure with interesting characters, I look at the people in my life. Friends, family, my girlfriend...they are more important to me than needing to entertain myself with secular fiction.

God's providence gets me every time. I am reading J Warner Wallace's new book today, The Truth in True Crime. Great book on the nature of man (you should read it). There's a part in the book speaking to humanity's worship of something. I also listened to Living Waters podcast, it spoke on humanity worshipping as well. I did a heart check real quick to be sure I'm worshipping God, but wasn't sure I could pinpoint any false worship because if I'm not with God, I am mindlessly scrolling videos on the weekend, sometimes for a few hours. This video was an answer from God for me. I have been feeling a strain on my relationship with God. I asked and He answered as always. Blessed be the name of our God. • @MEAToftheWORDsermons4theMATURE

I 100% agree with you. I am highly influenced and I have had to get worldly music and entertainment out of my life completely to help my relationship with God (Hebrews 12:1). However...
A weak believer is not someone who struggles in an area, that's actually a mature believer that recognizes their struggles. A weak believer is someone who thinks someone else must stay away from what "my" struggles are too.
My mentor and the teacher of this channel does not have the same struggle as I. I asked him why would a believer watch stuff like that? His response was it comes down to why they watch stuff like that? it goes along with what you said regarding having communality/relatability with unbelievers as a means of oppertunity to share the Gospel.
It's about what's going on in the heart and what message one is communicating. Your message in this video can push someone that was in one extreme into the exact opposite extreme. It's a balancing act.
The important question is, do you own it, or does it own you? If God said you could never watch Harry Potter again, would you be ok with it? A good question for each of us for self examination.
I still can't touch that stuff, and many others shouldn't either, but just as some aren't able to be around prostitutes, Jesus was able to be. Jesus was able to be around drunks, and sinners. That is why we must continue to mature to become more like Jesus.
In the world, and not of the world (John 17:11-19), only by His power.

    • @gray_rain
      @gray_rain Před 13 hodinami +1

Yes, sir. This is very wise. Too many believers conflate their personal convictions in their conscience with the objective teaching of the Word as it should apply to every other Christian. The Word often gives us principles to apply rather than specific situations that are black and white, sin and righteousness (though it gives plenty of those, too). How it applies to one person may not be the same for the next. That doesn't mean that the one is objectively wrong or right in their action. And it doesn't mean that the Word isn't about objective truth (it is). The principle is objective. But the application to a specific believer can be faithfully done in multiple, more subjective ways.
It's one of the reasons chapters like Romans 14 exists. Even though eating meat is fine, some people's consciences won't let them do it in faith, and so FOR THEM, it's sin (whatever doesn't proceed from faith is sin), but it isn't sin for everyone. And again, too many of our Brothers and Sisters today think that how their personal conscience interacts with applying the principles of the Word is what the Word is teaching for all Christians in all situations. Simply isn't true.
      Good take, bro. 💪

I know we keep talking about the world but there are things behind the scenes that you should be discerning about like some Christian music, movies, and shows. Everyone is watching The Chosen but do you know the behind the scenes? Do you care? Not everyone that says Lord, Lord... I watched an interview where a guy was a Christian music artist and he confirmed that he witnessed music being prayed over demonically. Remember the enemy can disguise himself as an angel of light and his workers can disguise themselves as men of righteousness. Not everyone who names the name of Jesus is true and this is the same thing with movies and shows like the chosen. So many people are deceived by that show and the excuse is that they've never been closer to God until they watched that show which is sad but sooo many people are deceived

So my next question for you (NOT an accusation, just to preempt that kind of reply again lol) would be: would you care to explain more of what you mean by your post?
You initially quoted Matthew 7 where Jesus turns people away "on that day" from entering the kingdom of heaven, so I figured your implication might be that those who are deceived by watching the chosen are a part of the group who would, in the end, be the ones saying "Lord, Lord" and being told to depart. @@gray_rain Oh okay I apologize. Sometimes people twist words. My point is you can't believe it just because Jesus'name is used. Just because a person says God or the show or movie is supposedly about God. This is where discerning of spirits come in. If you mentioned Jesus'name but live in active on purpose sin everyday then why would I believe you're really about God? That's the point. People get so caught up in others using Jesus name that they forget the enemy uses Jesus name too and has deceived many. Something that has a WORSE effect on me though, is the good, clean things that are NOT promised to me. Both the world AND truly clean Christian movies, books, all media promote healthy, whole families and even romance. This is an unhealthy and delusional practice. Not making an excuse for watching the bad stuff, it’s more like a new recognition that I am not allowed ANY entertainment and should only absorb facts, no fiction.

I also disagree that you can't use entertainment to bring the gospel or use it to start a gospel conversation
For example, if a film has a villain who is evil and is in need of redemption
You can use that to point out that we are all villains in need of redemption
If the film contains elements of redemption, religion salvation, or whatever else
Or of its a movie about a criminal in court you can brimg the gospel on there

      Negative.
      Never seen it.
      Quick Google search, though...
The TV series Vikings has a TV-MA maturity rating. The show contains violence, sexual content, and other mature themes:
Violence: Graphic and non-graphic violence, including stabbing, beheading, dismemberment, and eye gouging
Sexual content: Moderate sex scenes with some nudity, as well as unnecessary rape and sex scenes
Other mature themes: Swearing, drinking, drugs, and smoking
The version on Amazon Prime is rated TV-14, but the ones you can purchase on disc are unrated, and also have completely uncensored sex scenes, stronger language, and more intense gore.
As a Christian, you read all that and still choose to watch it, that is you being led by your flesh. Not the Spirit. I speak from experience. I'm done holding confidence in my flesh.
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing.
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
      (GALATIANS 5)
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

When we study the catechism we learn about Law and Gospel. The law Shows our Sins, S.O.S. The law tells us what to do and what not to do. The law has three uses. It curbs our behavior. Like when you are driving down route 129 and see a state trooper up ahead in the median. What do you do? You slow down, even if you are doing the speed limit. The law curbs your behavior. The law also functions as a mirror to show you your sins and show that you are a sinner. The third use of the law is to function as a guide. How shall I live? Love God and love your neighbor. Now the law does not only condemn, but it always condemns. The law always shows you to be a sinner.
Hearing that “faith without works is dead,” is law.
You are saved by grace through faith is Gospel. The word Gospel in Greek means good news. The Gospel is the good news of forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ. The Gospel Shows our Savior; S.O.S. The Gospel tells what God has done for you in Jesus Christ. That Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins and rose from the dead to conquer death. That, in Christ, you have eternal life. The Law is the Word of God and the Gospel is the Word of God. So when should we use Ephesians 2, and when should we use James 2?

No matter how well meaning the people teaching you that are, they are teaching you a falsehood.
The same way that God remembers our sin no more... Is the same way He remembers our former righteousness no more if we choose to turn away. Ez 18

      We didn't earn it.
      It's free, but conditional.
Example of a condition God puts on His free gift: "if you refuse to forgive, I will not forgive you before the Father"
*That is Jesus speaking.* If He doesn't forgive you, where else are you _presuming_ to get your forgiveness and salvation?

When you learn about the descendants of Cain you find out their years are not numbered, but those who fear God and worship Him are numbered. In the garden, there was not commerce, or need to amuse oneself, because God was with them and man was fully satisfied. This is one way we know God is the only true and living source who can satisfy and meet mans every need.

If we hope to speak forth and for God, we must abstain from taking in unholy and impure things. Foot washing is a practical practice to get the dirt from outside off to not bring it into the house. Because of our sinful nature. More so Christians 🤷‍♀️✝️😮?
There's no conviction no spiritual awareness?
No obedience! So the world 🌎 is totally oblivious careless without restraints.

Those of us who are working A LOT tend to steer towards funny. I keep OBVIOUSLY PROFANE AND SATANIC JUNK out of my mind.

  • @georgethemonkeydrummer5598

Well some of the points listed just don’t work or can’t be used to approach other forms of entertainment. For example, sports.
In Mexico, many ministries regardless of denominations use football (soccer) events to both communicate with their local communities around them and share the word. They also individually play it for fun and to stay in shape as they age.
Of course there are other motivations to play soccer, but it’s not just as straightforward as “if it doesn’t honor God, then you shouldn’t do it”.
That certainly is the case for many entertainment formats but even then it’s an individual’s approach to the media or form of entertainment that completely sidelines half of these points.

Yes, it really is that straightforward. Bodily exercise is glorifying to God. But there is much more evil that goes on. Having good things happen at events mixed with evil does not make it good or even a gray area.

I pretty much only watch MotoGP and fart videos and only then sparingly. I figure I am doing pretty good.

Too be honest I get what your saying but have you read the old testament??!! There is more murder, sexual immorality and all kinds of sin in there. Maybe if we can identify sin and NOT revel in it then I don't see much wrong in watching some stuff that has a good story. On the other hand continuous blasphemy, sexually explicit scenes, or gratuitous violence should remain off our must see list as that is just temptation masquerading as entertainment.

How many times can we listen to others blaspheme the Lord's Name and God approve then? How many times before it is continuous? At what point does God frown at His Name being blasphemed and us not batting an eye?

What about celebrations of immotal government holly days?Celebrating the Fourth of July is fundamentally unchristian because the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution were rooted in Enlightenment ideals, not Christian principles. The Revolution involved rebel Christians killing Loyalist Christians, an act that starkly opposes Jesus' teachings on love and peace. Additionally, this rebellion was against established authority, directly contradicting the biblical mandate for submission to governing authorities (Romans 13:1-2). The Enlightenment's emphasis on human reason and autonomy also conflicts with traditional Christian teachings. By celebrating an event that involved Christians killing each other and promoted secular ideologies, Christians are endorsing a movement that undermines the very faith they profess to uphold.

Where is the proof of that? What about the British attacking people who didn’t join the Church of England? So, according to you, anyone who celebrates Independence Day is not a Christian?

I cannot even *look* at some of the Clips used to show what TV is like now! they made me feel utterly Ascorched and In SIN to even have them afore my Eyes! I had to shut my eyes and look away *More* than once because I considered the Images as Sinful and Satanic and the Products of Hell! so Please Include a "this Video contains clips that may cause conviction and Stumbling" Warning next time Please! thank you!
Also, am I still being too Worldly because I still like Cars? allow the odd 3 to very mild 12 (ESRB E-E10 in the US) Rated Racing Game in my Life (in the Grace of God I can go up to Four Days without a Game now (and gave up Violent Titles Completely, God, in His mercy, though Christ, has changed me from being in near Bloodlust, to feeling *Literally Physically Sick* at just a Screenshot of a Violent Title)...but any longer and My *Extremely Poor* Mental Health Starts to Fail due to the Stress and Depression that comes from being in this Evil and Fallen World, so it would be *very Dangerous indeed* for me to give them up.. please keep that in Mind before Answering!) and still watch the odd bit of TV (mostly Old (I am talking Pre 1990) Adventure Serials (think the Original 1960's "Mission: Impossible" and its 1980's Continuation as an Example), the odd Documentary Series such as "Bangers and Cash" (about a Family Run Classic Car Auction House in Yorkshire) and the Occasional Children's Cartoon, and thats about it) and the occasional Animated Family Comedy here and there, as I am Worried about that!
However, being of a Wesleyan (oh yes, I admit openly that I am an former Heretic who was once trapped in False, works based, "Religion") background before I became Reformed (Reformed Anglican at that, like J.C. Ryle, mentioned in this Very Video!) by the Regeneration of the Holy Spirit in the Mercy of God, I am prone to extreme Legalism sometimes, So I am not sure if my worries are some of the Old Legalism of my Past coming back to trouble me with the Lies and Torments of the Devil, or if I really do have a Problem!
Note: I agree, Movies have no Place in the Church, and *cannot* be used as Gospel tools!
"there is nothing more Grievous unto God than those made in His Image being entertained by People Imitating the things that He has commanded them to be Stoned for!" -Saint John Chrysostom.
