False conversions are more of a problem for the comfortable Western churches.
Generations ago, sickness was the rule, death was close, lifespans were short and work was very laborious. Those are ripe conditions for seeking after God. Affluence, long lives and boundless entertainment have given us spiritual lethargy.

I hear so many well-respected pastors say "accept Jesus as your personal savior" and never mention the Lord part. It's a glaring omission. I'll tell you what happened to me. God brought me to the point where I had no choice but to recognize His truth. i couldn't deny it.

Exodus 3:13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”
Lord, King, Creator of the Universe. All titles are correct when used with the proper respect towards Him.
In the original Greek it's "Iésous"(transliteration) which is now translated to either Jesus or Joshua. Jesus was chosen to differentiate the Messiah from others who had his same name.
So referring to Him as Jesus might seem to you as improper. But, like the Lord has said Himself, when used in such a way to elevate Him above all others, then it is the proper way to refer to Him.

Jesus cannot be our Savior, unless we first acknowledge Him as our King, Lord, God, Creator. As Lord, He issues a proclamation that we need to be born-again with a Law-abiding Character to become an Upright Citizen in the Kingdom of God. Because the Devil, himself, fooled Eve & Adam out of their Godliness, into the image of lawlessness like the devil himself, we need to be rescued from his menacing leadership, redeemed from his lawlessness, cleansed from character-sin, and prepared perfectly in Christ's Righteousness. God's Law, written into our heart, powered by Grace, accelerated by our Faith, will produce Righteousness - Right doing - to be like Jesus all day long... I would be like Jesus.
BTW: Repentance is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, not something that we produce. As we continually learn about the goodness of God, we continually repent of not being in His likeness fully.

The problem with the traditional ( and correct ) formulation is in the critical words "repentance" and "faith". Unless those words are fully and properly explained in the process of presenting the gospel, many modern people don't know what is required. We cannot simply assume that the average contemporary person even really understands the word "sin". Remedial instruction, like we used to teach through catechisms, is a prerequisite to having people understand what is involved in following Christ.
Thanks, Todd, for finally shedding some light and truth on these awful modern "invitation" models. Christ invites only in the sense that the ruler in the parable who gave a wedding feast invited: many are called, few are chosen.

@@davidjohnson497 Repent means change your mind or have a change of heart in the Bible. That’s it. It doesn’t mean “turn away from sin”. If you repent and trust Jesus it just means whatever you had your trust and hope resting in beforehand will be changed and you’ll place that hope and trust in Jesus instead. Will this naturally lead you on a whole new path and make you want to live a life pleasing to the LORD? Yes, but even Paul confessed that he still struggled with sin and fleshly desires after being saved. The comment or should have had “Believe” in all caps if they wanted to emphasize the gospel itself, but instead they put “repent” in all caps. There’s a common lie in the Church today that Biblical repentance means “turning away from sin”, and yet that would mean we’d need at least one instance in the New Testament where we were instructed to αποστρέψω from our sins to be saved. We don’t have even one instance in the New Testament where turning away from sin is part of the message of salvation. We are told to μετάνοια and have πίστις is Christ to be saved. That just means change your mind about what you believed before and trust Jesus. So I’m trying to make sure that Repentance is properly understood, because many people have not gotten saved and received the Holy Ghost by taking the leaven of the Pharisees and believing in a works based salvation on non-biblical repentance instead of just trusting Jesus. Check Acts 16:30-31, there’s even the simple unadulterated gospel given in that passage by Paul. He just says trust Jesus and you shall be saved. You don’t even need to use the word repent to get someone saved by Christ because if they put their faith in Christ then they will have had a natural Biblical experience of μετάνοια as well, aka Biblical repentance.

Hi Billy. I believe that is why the clip from Paul Washer saying faith alone saves is included. There are a couple reasons we say you must repent and believe to be saved:
      1. It is what Scripture says (Mark 1:15, Luke 13:5, etc).
      2. Many people don't understand that a repentant heart is part of what saving faith means, as you explained, believing instead that Jesus died and rose only to remove the consequences of sin; they imagine that their sin will be tolerated. They need to know that they will not be saved if they are content to live as enemies of God.
The call to repent and believe does not mean, "first get your life right, and then put your faith in Jesus." That's a legalistic distortion. It means trusting Jesus first of all and beginning to follow Him. True repentance will be evidenced by continuing to follow Him, however imperfectly, like the seed that fell on good soil and survived and bore fruit. It also does not mean that your obedience in following Him is what saves. Repentance is to faith what a pulse is to a heartbeat. No pulse = no heartbeat = death, but the pulse isn't what makes anyone alive.

False teachings, Buddhism, Islam, atheism, Catholicism all kinds of man made spin
The true church of God is not denominational, a house divided cannot stand. The true church of God keeps the biblical Sabbath and biblical holy days, something very few "churches" so.
Jesus says his is a "little flock" there are at best 20,000 real Christians in the United States.
So it's not that God doesn't care, when the time comes he will play back all the stupidity we have attempted so we will have no excuse but to either choose his way or be obliterated.
Sin, death, murder, crime, hatred, racism are all allowed so we can see what life would be like when we are in charge....none of these things will exists when the kingdom of heaven comes to earth.

I struggle with SSA as a Christian and it really makes some of this stuff a bit easier for me. When I came to God I left my bf and chose to follow and submit to God and left that lifestyle. Everyday I have to die to that part of myself and turn to Him for help and it helps me build my relationship with Him. It’s easy for me to see repentance and fruits in my life. It’s the one thing about my struggle that has been good for me. I literally wouldn’t be able to resist my struggle if it wasn’t for Jesus. There are days I literally talk to Him because I may never be with a partner. Through my struggle He has revealed so much to me so fast. Being a celibate Christian was something at first and in the last time I tried faith (focused on trying to be straight not Jesus) I saw as a burden but I’m learning that it really allows me to spend so much time just focusing and seeking God. It allows me to easily see my cross I carry and what I am dying to. I thank God for deciding I was a sheep worth bringing me home and for allowing me to see some good in my struggle. He can take someone who felt so unqualified to be a believer and change and make them into something new.

The sense of the passage is that they should be baptized in response to their repentance and faith, in view of their faith. The New Testament witness shows people being baptized in response to their faith. Verse 41 of the very chapter you cited shows that, "So those who received his word (BELIEVED) were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls." Acts 2:41

In Acts 22:16 you indicate that "Baptism washes away sin". That is not what the passage says. Paul here says that he was asked a question, Why do you wait? He was then given two commands. Be baptized and wash away your sins. Wash Away (ἀπόλουσαι) is an aorist, middle, imperative, second person singular, verb; not an Accusative noun which it would have to be to make your interpretation correct. ἀπόλουσαι is not the direct object of βάπτισαι. How was Paul's sins washed away? The text tells you, calling on His name (Romans 10:13). Not by baptism!
If you believe that Baptism is salvific, a necessary requirement for salvation, then I would like to propose a question to you. Say you and I were traveling in a vehicle going down the interstate. I crashed the vehicle and was pinned in it and I was not a believer. The fire fighter told me that as soon as they relieved the wreckage from my body I would most likely die. I look at you and ask you, "I'm gonna die, what must I do to be saved?" I have a problem with the the use of the word repent. In the Greek, repent is metanoeo, which means a change of mind about who Jesus is and is synonymous with faith, trust and belief. True repentance is putting your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is true that we need to repent of our sins and confess our sins but that doesn’t happen unless we have been born again because we don’t have the power on our own.

Amen. When I first truly repented and believed - and I have to admit I had no idea what I was doing - I noticed that certain things fell off me: pornography, movies - not R18, but with violence and foul language - and I got this absolute insatiable hunger for the Bible. That lasted about 3 months, and then I was filled with the Holy Spirit and started seeing things about the church we were attending that just weren't right. That's when the baptism by fire started: lots of trouble, and I got all of these things that were in me - anger, bitterness etc - that I think were underneath the surface and God just started dealing with them. I had to go to Him and ask Him to get rid of them, and the next morning, they were gone. Interestingly, I only know that was baptism by fire due to a sermon by a certain Derek Prince. Only when I looked back at my experience did I realize what had been happening. I laughed so hard and kept thanking God for not showing me what he had been doing until I listened to that sermon.
I remember once telling God "I surrender everything to you" and, after that Derek Prince sermon, I laughed and told him I didn't realize what I was getting myself into when I said those words, but I'm so glad that he did that. I have a patience with my children that I never could have worked up in a million years, and a hunger to teach them about God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit from the Bible. They used to be lethargic about it, but I've noticed they now hunger to dive into the Bible and ask me questions. ALl glory and prais to God for that

We aren’t saying yes to Jesus like a woman says yes to a wedding dress, we are going to Jesus and saying “Lord I know that I’m a sinner and I repent and now I will follow you, since you are my salvation.” You acknowledge Jesus as the only way to God and turn away from your sins… it’s not as simple as saying “Yes” to Christ like he’s some basic white wedding dress and still living as you always have. You must put your faith in God and repent from your sins because GOD is the one with the authority to save you, WE are not the ones in authority to let God do it. We are surrendering to God, not wearing his salvation like a wedding gown.

Everybody Needs To Believe In There Heart The Gospel Message That Saves You From God's' Wrath
The real power is in the gospel according to God, it only has the power to set a person free from the bondage of sin and death.
      Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
(1 Corinthians 15:1-4). THE GOSPEL THAT SAVES, And Gives You Eternal Life
Moreover, brethren, I declared unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand, by which also you are saved if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead.
      Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
      Ephesians 1:12-14
13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).
It is not based on human traditions, rituals, or works, but on the finished work of Christ on the cross.
He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
      Romans 5:8-10 KJV
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
      The Saving Blood Of Christ
      Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
      Colossians 1:14
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

I do agree that the church needs to talk about repentance more. We can't really understand grace unless we first understand sin. It wasn't until I was convicted with sin and then repented of that very thing, then did I surrender my life to Jesus. There was much shame and my heart was broken, the fear of the Lord changed my life.
Saying yes to Jesus, commitment to Christ, good works, new desires, a change of perspective and attitude are all by-products of one being born again.(After true salvation, then you will begin to bear fruit and see character changes) And none of that is even possible without faith.
(Without faith it is impossible to please God) one cannot truly follow or serve the Lord without faith. Faith and repentance go hand-in-hand.

      Greetings neighbor,
What Peter preached was the gospel of Christ, which is the power of God unto salvation to all that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16).
As Jesus had commanded his apostles, so they did. And on the day of Pentecost, the New Testament began, and the gospel of Christ was preached. It was first preached to the Jews (Acts 2:38-39), then to the Samaritans (Acts 8:5-17), and then to the Gentiles, beginning at the house of Cornelius (Acts 10).
This is how the gospel of Christ, even as the Lord commanded:
      *Matthew 28:18-20*
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach *all nations,* baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
      *Luke 24:45-48*
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, *beginning at Jerusalem.*
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
The same gospel that Peter preached to the Jews, was preached to the Samaritans, and also to the Jews. If you will read through the book of Acts, you will, hopefully, see that this is the case.

Paul comes along and becomes the main/leading character till the end of book. Thats because there’s a transition taking place from LAW to GRACE!!!… Note the language in Paul’s EPISTLES, notice how he emphasizes Christ being raised from the dead for salvation….. Being saved by grace through faith, eternal life being a free gift, not being under law…. Peter never preach that message… Peter peached repent… Peter was a minister of the circumcision (law) Peter was a law keeping jew…. In 2 Peter 3:15-16 he says Pauls writings are hard to be understood…. Be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Peter also went on to say in one of his epistle that just as the waters saved Noah and his family in the flood, so baptism does also now save us. Jesus himself commanded us to be baptized in Mark chapter 16, verse 16 John chapter 3 verse five. We must be born again of water, which is baptism and spirit, which is Holy Ghost infilling. this happens over and over again in the book of acts. Baptism is not a work. @@NeededGR13F I'm so glad you've highlighted this. I must admit I used to have the same response as Brandon Williams above to this verse, thinking it was the gospel, until I heard a sermon by David Pawson explaining the context of the verse. He taught me to read all of a text before trying to draw any conclusions, and it changed how I read the Bible. The Holy Spirit has shown me much more in the Bible than before through this tip. Another great teacher, Derek Prince, talks about how there is much fine print in the new covenant with God that believers sometimes miss. For example, I used to read Romans 8:1 as "There is therefore now no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus". That's the NLT and NIV version of the verse. The full verse in the original text goes on to say"...who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit". So it matters which version of the Bible we use as well.
Myles Coverdale put it this way "It shall greatly help ye to understand the Scriptures if thou mark not only what is spoken or written, but of whom and to whom, with what words, at what time, where, to what intent, with what circumstances, considering what goeth before and what followeth after."

I see no issue with the sinners prayer as long as the individual fully understands Christ, why we need him and the life we are expected to live as Christians.
Regarding "acting like a ventriloquists dummy", I really don't think this is applicable. Jesus gave us the Lords prayer which early Christians would pray 3 times a day. It seems that God is fine with someone praying from a script, as long as its sincerely meant.

This is a message that MUST be heard in today's church. Unfortunately, in far too many churches the truth will not be given. Instead, a 20 min superficial fluff sermon will take it's place. Now I ask you, aside from the fact that that "sinner's prayer" occurs NOWHERE in Scripture. How do you, a fallen creature, tainted by sin at the cellular level, (Romans 7:20) invite the sovereign Lord of the universe anywhere? You don't. Because you can't. And, more to the point. You won't. "No one seeks for God" (Romans 3:11)
Those who believe they're is some formula for salvation that does not include total surrender are the ones who fulfill Isaiah 29:13, Matt 15:8-9.

The True Gospel That Can Save Your Soul Vs The False Gospels That Lead A Person To Hell
The True Gospel Of Salvation If You Believe With All Of Your Heart You Will Be Saved And Have Eternal Life
The real power is in the gospel according to God, it only has the power to set a person free from the bondage of sin and death.
This Is The Gospel That Paul Preached And We Are Saved By That Jesus Christ Taught Paul To Preach To The World
      1 Corinthians 15:1-4
(Moreover, brethren, I declared unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand, by which also you are saved if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.)

      The Saving Blood Of Christ
      Revelation 1:5
And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
      ROMANS 3
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
      25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
We receive the holy spirit of Christ when we believe the gospel

14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
The gospel of salvation is not sacraments is not liturgy, is not the worship of the eucharist, is not water baptism, not by infant baptism, is not doing good works, not by speaking in tongues,
Not Getting hands laid on you to receive the Holy Spirit
Not Repent OF Your Sins And Believe The Gospel
is not penance, is not the mass, is not by worshiping Mary, and is not a rosary and is not by a priest saying the last rites prayer, or by purgatory, not by keeping the law(10 commandments)
not by keeping the sabbath not by church membership, not by fasting, and your not saved by tithing giving 10% to the church) or confession of your sins to a priest. And salvation is not giving your life to Christ.
If any religion or church or person teaches or adds anything to the gospel of our lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to be saved, they and all who believe in them and trust in them according to the apostle Paul they are accursed. (damned).
What happens if we or an Angel From Heaven Preach a different Gospel then Paul preached. Paul preached the Gospel by revelation of Christ.
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another Gospel: Which is not another, but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so I say now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you then that ye have received, let him be accursed.
But I certify you, brethren that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught.

After many years of being a "christian" they no longer have anything to do with Jesus, but say the whole thing is a myth; and at one time they were on fire for Jesus as much as anyone else. People treat these verses like it was a recipe or set of instructions for how to get saved. That's not what Paul was saying. They were greatly mistaken and disappointed when they discovered otherwise. Who is it that confesses with the mouth and believes with the heart besides already born again believers? NOBODY! Do you think UN-believers call on the name of Jesus on a dare? Why would they call on Him as unbelievers? What would that prove? How about if someone called on the name of Muhammad on a dare? Would Muhammad save him?

salvation is simple that even a child can understand and get saved......in the book of Johnwe are told that some 85 times that one only needs to do is only believe and not once is the word repent mentioned......even the theif on the cross only said to Jesus to remember him.......salavtion is as easy as opening a door.....yes its easy cause Jesus has paid the price in full which means thers nothing we need to do except to only believe....since salvation is a free gift then everything has already been taken care of leaving all one needs to do is just take or accept the gift...if we have to anything more than accept then that would make salvation a reward.....as for repentance....the reason the book of john does not mention the word is because when one beleives that at the same time have repented......the biblical defintion for the word repent comes from the word METANOIA which menas to have a change of mind.....so therefor when one gets saved they go from not needing a savior to now needing a svaior...from not seeing themselves as a sinner to now seeing they are a sinner...thus they have changed their mind........scripture says that the will of God is to beleive on him who he sent......that simple...to only believe......
