- / themeparkstop A Bikini Bottom themed land was originally planned for Universal's newest theme park, but it was cancelled and replaced by Kung-Fu Panda instead. Here's the UnBuilt story of the SpongeBob SquarePants land we almost got.
A whole new theme park opening next summer, Universal Studios Beijing will feature seven themed lands. Some of these lands are ones we've seen before, like the Wizarding World, while others will be all-new, created just for this park, like the Kung-Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness. But, the plans for this park changed many times while in development. Instead of a land based on Po the Kung Fu Panda, it was going to be based on someone who lives in a pineapple under the sea.

i remember the roller cowards episode, and i liked the mitten ride because it is a perfect kid's first rollercoaster since it has nothing but a tiny hill, but the vehicle goes around the course multiple times
I'd like to see this replace Kid Zone, because spongebob is a character that kids actually recognise unlike Woody Woodpecker.

@@d3almeidaz Not in Kid Zone though, at the new theme park. There is a chance that a different Nintendo property like Pokemon or Zelda could take over, just not until the first land has opened.
@@jackjerram3550 My Parents are friends with someone who works for both Universal and Disney. she is a tour guide and knows what will be happening with the new park. when I asked if super Nintendo will be replacing Kid zone she confirmed it was true. They are just holding off for now because of covid. If you look up the mapping of the area pictures will pop up of where they will be placed. She said that the spongebob store and the E.T. ride are staying. everything else around that area are going.
This makes me miss Nickelodeon studios and the Nicktoon Blast ride.
Wow.. that Spongebob themed land would be the single best thing that I could imagine for kids, families and even for 24 year old people with childhood nostalgia like me. Visiting the Krusty Krab one day and plunging down into Rock Bottom - now that's what would make me feel like I'm 9 again.
Just put it in KidZone territory. The franchise never dies. Also, even if you don't like Spongebob or know nothing about it, the locations lend themselves easily to an immersive theme park land.
Agreed. It's been around long enough to span generations of fans at this point. Can't seem to go a day without seeing an internet meme using spongebob. Lol. And it's still been churning out new episodes and multiple films. I think it's very comparable to the Simpsons in a lot of ways and universal did a nice job with that "land" in the studios park. It's obviously much more relevant than Popeye and the like.

Not Universal IP... with Dreamworks now part of Universal, that is the future choice for kids IP... Spongebob would be awesome if it took over toon lagoon at Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando

It’s hard to believe that anyone in 20 years will even know what Kung Fu Panda is. Seems like such a miss not to include Nintendo and Spongebob.
Okay the carousel being all bubble creatures is such a good idea. The boat ride for the driving school... Yes. And who doesn't want to try a Krabby Patty? They missed a huge opportunity. It's not too late though. Bulldoze the kid zone in Orlando and put SpongeBob there. Both kids and adults love it. Plus the SpongeBob store is already there. AND they don't have any water rides in that park. That's what they're missing!

Tbh, This should be an expansion to Epic Universe or a retheme of Toon Lagoon, that area is boring and so are the rides so it should get a full makeover
It’s actually amazing that Universal doesn’t have a Spongebob land. Unlike a lot of characters, Spongebob has “staying power” and a huge following of both children and adults. Missed opportunity.

If Universal would still keep the land indoors, maybe have the guests enter through a boat called "S.S. Hillenburg." Just a cool idea of mine.

I feel like in the future Universal could take that concept and used the space that was originally planned for Super Nintendo World in Kid's Zone and build it there and it would also be convenient that the Spongebob store would be right in front of the entrance.

It would have been amazing back in the day but at some point Spongebob didn’t hit home. Sure it might have been because of growing up but you barely heard about Spongebob during its last seasons compared to back in the day

First, I think ET is staying and will get some kind of update. But what I find curious is the spongebob store still hanging around. It is all by itself. Either do something with the IP or just merge it with the new DreamWorks land.

What a cute idea! It reminds me of “Mermaid Lagoon” from “Tokyo Disney Sea” that is also an indoor area that created the effect and atmosphere that you’re underwater. I hope Universal Hollywood or Orlando decides to give life to this concept.

I have an idea. Since universal Studios Florida has a spongebob squarepants store in woody woodpecker's kidzone (a area that has been heavily rumored for a replacement), they could revive the land and place it in woody woodpecker's kidzone. Of course, et adventure will survive.

I get that Universal Creative Team has been working so hard to have these lands successful but most of the ideas and plans that they planned on didn't work out according to plan. SpongeBob could have another chance somewhere else in other Universal Theme parks. Nintendo is a Japanese company and they could have gone with Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Beijing.

i have drawn my own spongebob dark ride, in which you board a tour vehicle that looks like the bus vehicle from the show, then are taken under a real body of water that is held in place by a gungan hydrostatic field (if you don't know what it is, it keeps water out of the underwater gungan cities in star wars movies). however, the majority of the ride is not submerged in water, as there are animatronics which will not work in deep water unless you use the materials and movement method as the avatar in the cryochamber in the queue of avatar: flight of passage at disney's animal kingdom, which might not work.. anyway, the vehicle has a screen where things like the fish reporter are seen. i didn't draw all the ride's scenes, but i did draw one, in which a jellyfish stings spongebob

i just to think it would never happen since sponge bob is considered old now, i know it could still be sort of popular but if it was back in its hay day then perhaps. but right now i doubt it.. if anything the store they have might be changed to something else.

Universal used to have a nickelodeon ride at orlando themed after jimmy neutron so idk why they dont have a spongebob ride there.

I forgot what video I saw but I'm pretty sure Nickelodeon has it where anyone can license their properties for certain things. I'm assuming that universal probably wanted exclusive rights and Nick backed out. With Nickelodeon studios closing in 2005 and sponge Bob still being their biggest cartoon it's a shame they haven't banked on that. Or maybe it's because Nickelodeon made their own theme park with American dream

I feel like this idea is too good to not happen. Spongebob is really popular in the Chinese speaking world. Give it some time, Universal Beijing may always revisit this as an expansion.

Krusty Burger can be Rethemed to The Krusty Krab, Luigi's Pizzeria can be Rethemed to Pizzeria piehole from that SpongeBob gets fired episode, The Lard Lad Donuts will be Rethemed to Winnie Hut Jr's, the Ice cream Shack should be Rethemed to The Goofy Gober's from The SpongeBob SquarePants movie, The Hot Dog House should be Rethemed to The Chum Bucket, Bumblebee's Taco Truck will be a taco truck but Rethemed to That taco place in that SpongeBob gets fired episode, and The Chicken Shack will be Rethemed to The Sea Chicken Shack and The Simpsons Ride Will be Rethemed The Main Attraction SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle of Atlantis The Attraction takes place The the City of Atlantis we're SpongeBob and his friends Patrick Star, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, and Squidward are in Atlantis to find Plankton we're he is Stealing Artifacts from The people of Atlantis so he can steal the secret formula so when you first enter the preshow you see SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, and Squidward looking around Atlantis and then you see that Plankton already builded a giant robot to seal Artifacts and destory the Atlantis and steal The Secret Formula from The Krusty Krab the 2nd preshow room is that SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs enter The Military Atlantis Vehicles which are the bus from that SpongeBob Atlantis episode but Plankton already comes to them and takes all 5 of them so we as the guest enter the Atlantis Bus and we go up and the leader of Atlantis shows up on the TV screen to takes us out of the Atlantis base and Straight to get plankton and stop him first the vehicle hits Plankton and saves SpongeBob and his friends but Plankton grabs SpongeBob's vehicle and the Guest Vehicle and throws both the vehicles to Glove World wear you accidentally fly into the Firey Fist of Pain and fall and plumbing down into the tea cup ride spin around for a few seconds into The Bikini Bottom Beach wear you see a big Giant Sea Monster almost eat and The guest get wet The Guest Vehicle but SpongeBob grabs the Guest Vehicle with his strong hands but accidentally both SpongeBob's Vehicle and The guest Vehicle fall into Rock Bottom but SpongeBob comes to the recuse again and Grab The Guest Vehicle and before you go you see The Wired Fish in rock bottom from that episode then you enter the town of The city bikini Bottom we're Plankton in his Robot suit is destroyed most of the town on his way to the Krusty Krab but Plankton drops SpongeBob, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, and Squidward inside Plankton's robot and the guest Vehicle Grabs the Gold Artifact inside the robot and Sandy karate chops the Power in the Robot and then when the robot is destroyed the police come and arrest plankton and SpongeBob and his friends say one last goodbye to the guest as we fly so fast to get back to Atlantis and the Vehicle comes down to the load area andThe Atlantis King Thanks the guests for getting back The gold artifact and then the attraction ends and you enter the The Grocery store from the show which will replace the Simpsons Market. (This is just my suggestion)
