  • Tim Mooney, presenter of the one-man play, "Breakneck Hamlet," discusses the second major soliloquy of Shakespeare's "Hamlet," "Oh, what a rogue and peasant slave am I!" He examines the broad sweep of time on which this speech plays out, not only being from a 400 year old play, but from a 400 year old play that is about a legendary character from 550 years prior to that, which features an actor portraying a scene as depicted in the Iliad, written 1800 years prior to that which captures a scene from the Trojan War, another 3-400 years before THAT! And even amid all of this reverse time travel, Shakespeare brings us up to the immediate present moment of whenever we happen to be watching this scene, as he confronts us with "guilty creatures, sitting at a play."
Tim will be presenting "Breakneck Hamlet" this Sunday night, March 15 at 8:00 Central time at TimMooneyRep and again Monday night on Zoom. It's available at a special discount rate for the remainder of that week for broadcast to schools and theatres. More info available at timmooneyrep.com/ .

This is amazing, thank you! I love your approach of someone looking at this incredible soliloquy for the first time. Some great insights here.
