- As a kid who grew up feeling alone, helpless and having to take a deep breath every time I came home because I didn't know what was coming my way when I walked through the front door. I covered my pain with jokes at school but inside I was broken. When I hear about kids being abandoned or abused it brings back all those feelings I had when I was a kid. Here is a kid Jessie Bailey who I couldn't walk away from. With everything he's been through in his life I'm glad I could help him by giving him a 4 year scholarship to Capital University.

The school cafeteria ladies never get enough credit for being social workers. They give kids encouragement, stop future bullies, slide kids families left over food for a week. Thank you 54th Street Elementary School Los Angeles Lunch ladies.

I pray that whatever has harden these 9 people’s hearts or blinded these 9 people from celebrating such love will experience such love and come back to this video and unclick their thumbs down to a thumbs up as a showing that they now understand and appreciate the courage and resolve (hope) of this young man Jessie; the seed (of faith) that the girl Kristen and her mother, Ms. Shelly, the cafeteria lady planted in Jessie; the watering of that seed (charity in abundance) Gary and his wife Ms. Kenya has provided; including the blessing of that watered seed that the lady, Ms. Tracy offered to Jessie in the way of an internship at her law firm.....which is all from the foundation growing in each one of them that Good has placed in them….showing that the love of the Lord is living in each one of them. Exactly my thoughts
My issue is not that I disliked the video but that my heart was broken for the other children in the class. How many of those kids were just as deserving and overlooked? How many children came from broken homes and were neglected without the opportunity to show their true potential but were completely overlooked and disregarded? Those same teenagers then had to endure watching another student receive a full scholarship. I'm not playing favorites and I'm sure that young man deserved what he got but it still bothers me that other students had to watch while life changing opportunities were not offered to them and the universe seemed to have overlooked their needs yet again.
I'm crying like a baby watching you! Gary Owen, my admiration of you and your family has skyrocketed! I hope young Mr. Bailey realizes his dream, and pays it forward. Loved this SOOO much!!

Exactly. Nothing compares to seeing how things work first hand. I remember my senior year of college we could do either an internship or a Capstone project. I went with the internship, which turned into a career right out of college.
