      Depends on the handgun I reckon. Some have adjustable sights which would be self explanatory. I think most you would either need to adjust your own point of aim, or replace the rear sight for a higher/lower one to adjust the impact with your preferred point of aim.

    • @BruceS42
      @BruceS42 Před 4 lety +4

      @@WartimeFriction Absolutely. I have a handgun with *no* provisions for zeroing. The rear sight is a slot in the body of the gun, the front sight a cantthinkofthewordverticalmetal that is not adjustable. So no adjustment for windage or elevation. Fortunately, I've found it well zeroed at the distance range I use it for. If not, I'd have to just remember to adjust my aim. But @funsutton, you can search CZcams for your model of handgun and "zeroing", and you *may* find a video specific to it. Otherwise, consider what options it has for sight adjustment, and you'll be able to find videos dealing with that set of adjustments. Unless it's like mine; I don't think there are videos for that.

    I switched to the CZ 75 Compact PCR BD for my carry pistol several years ago. With my XXL hands I still found it advantageous to install a set of $18 Hogue Palm Swell grips and upgraded the sights mainly because of my age related farsightedness. Have done nothing else except cleaning and normal maintenance.
    I shoot regularly, now have probably pushing 2,000 rounds through it, with zero issues. Have not tried anything ultra exotic but every JHP or FMJ has fed reliably, and this pistol fits my hand better than my beloved 1911's ever did, and that is saying a LOT. I also got rid of my "precious" - a dozen Glaser Safety Slugs I had been hoarding for years, but never carried. See your related several years old video about the "precious". Those high dollar rounds were all over the target, sure glad I never had to use them for real.
    Love this channel, appreciate your style of presentation a great deal. In contrast, I watched another channel on a subject I was researching and was reminded of that "ShamWow" guy with the mic on his head. @roykiefer7713 Před 4 lety +3

    Paul, I am VERY glad you reviewed the CZ 97BD. Over the years, I’ve noticed that you haven’t used or appraised many CZs, which may be unfortunate since they are (imho) generally outstanding (in every pertinent attribute) autoloaders.
    In my experience, the CZ 75B (9x19mm) was the best of the early (all metal) “wonder nines,” developed several decades ago and including the Beretta 92/M9 series, the Sig P-226, S&Ws, Rugers, and so forth. It is my considered opinion that the 75B never received the immediate acclaim - and therefore the concomitant sales - it merited, because Cold War trade restrictions precluded its importation until the Soviet Union (aka The Evil Empire) was soundly defeated by our NATO coalition and the Warsaw Pact evaporated. Essentially, that meant 15+ years of unavailability in the US market, which was (and remains) a mighty substantial marketplace barrier to surmount.
    As you’re certainly aware, the 97B fundamentally is a “scaled-up” .45 ACP design variant of the 75B. I’ve found the 97B to be superbly accurate, durable and reliable . . . frankly more so than Colt, Kimber and Springfield 1911A1s, than Glocks, and even than Sig P220s. In fact, the ONLY full sized .45 ACP that I consider to be superior to the 97 is the H&K USP Tactical. Obviously, custom .45 ACPs are excluded from this assessment, since their costs frequently are several times greater.
    The 97BD is the decocker version of the 97B. I prefer the 97B, since it can be carried “cocked and locked” and its SA trigger breaks very crisply. Many experts insist that traditional SA/DA autoloaders MUST have a decocker, however, I respectfully disagree. Safely lowering the 97B’s or the 75B’s hammer on a chambered round is not at all difficult (it seems to me that MANY generations of revolver use documents the ease and safety of doing so).
    I understand your respect for and excellence with the Beretta 92/M9 series, but I’d love to see you shoot a few thousand rounds with the 75B and than perform a head-to-head comparison.
    The CZ 97BD (and 97B) are large, heavy (is that a detriment when firing 200 or 230 grain +Ps?), but they also also durable, reliable, very accurate, high quality, and extremely shooter-friendly. THANKS for this video!

      Rob, don't be ridiculous. Thats not an opinion, its just a fact. CZ has yet to make anything bad enough to be considered disastrous like Breda or Walther, and the absolute worst I've heard about any CZ gun is that its "alright" or "pretty good." Czechs are superb weapons designers and manufacturers, they cost far less than German/Austrian guns while performing about the same or better with the exception of the AUG bullpup and thats because Czechs like their carbines with folding stocks. Other nations recognized the CZ-75 as a fantastic gun and had America, Britain and Italy making copies of the gun during the late cold war, even though the Beretta92 existed while the Czechs were perfectly content in using their own gear.
      All in all, its hard to beat CZ in cost and performance. Great guns.

    I once owned a CZ clone in 45 acp, 10 rnd capacity, with a polymer frame. It never worked out for me. Reliable, absolutely, but I found it hard to zero, the grip was strange, and no decocker. The polymer frame felt flimsy in my hand. Although the mags worked fine, they always felt a little strange clicking into place. But on the positive, maintenance was easy and recoil was not bad. I have no idea what Glock did, but I've shot the 21 a bit and it really manages recoil well. Glock trigger, sights and mags are not easy to work with, for me. The 1911 is lots of fun, great trigger. Cool video.

    • @bradbowhunts
      @bradbowhunts Před 4 lety

      My first autoloading 9mm was a CZ75 and I could slow fire (that's about all we did at the range since none of us were good enough to hit anything any other way) outshoot my buddy with his 92FS that was his personal carry gun as a deputy jailer, and one who was pretty good with his Ruger P89DC. This was in the very early 90s. But put me on either of the other platforms and I sucked with the Beretta and did much better with the Ruger, but still not as good as the CZ. And then Glock came around and made so much noise that I sold my CZ for a G27 (a poor, college kid could only afford one gun and with my first, brand new CC permit, the trade was easily justified) and didn't look back for about 15 years when I fired another 75 and decided to never again sell a gun once I owned it. What an amazing platform that was. And now you can buy CZs in so many different configurations that I can't keep up. Oh, and the CZ75 fit my hand "juuuust right". The Glock/s, always on the big side for my hand. Sigh...

    • @bradbowhunts
      @bradbowhunts Před 4 lety

      @rusty nuts Ya, for sure. I commented before reading yours. Mine was nickel plated with Brazillian Rosewood grips. It was beautiful and slow fire, I could shoot it like a 7.5" Super Blackhawk. Or, it felt like I could. Smaller hands, perfect fit. I loved that gun but likely will never own another since I have many on my list that will fall before it. But if I found one at the right price, no brainer. And I tell all young kids, "no matter how much you need the money, don't ever sell a gun that you shoot well".

For example you did this with your analysis of 40 S&W compared to 9 mm finding unlike most people that 40 calibre is more lethal. I wish you well with your recent diagnosis, and know that you are followed and appreciated by many. Start a GoFundMe to help with the bills and after care. You certainly can Count Me In.
