- On 1st July 2024 hurricane Beryl made landfall as a category 4 destroying the sister islands of Carriacou and Petit Martinique.
On the mainland of Grenada most of the damages to houses were on the northern side of the island, but there were loads of fallen trees all over the island.
Here is a look at what it was like driving in the north of the island assessing the damages.

No words can ease the horror, except I hope all the help humanly possible comes to those beautiful islands
As a survivor of Katrina, a lot of things was done wrong, all damaged material should have been taken to a site for reusable material, people who had nothing could have used a lot of material to use to rebuild till they could afford to replace it, even damaged boats, parts and stuff could have been reused, cars , parts could have been reused, salvage ever thing you can to help the rebuild or it's gonna take 20 to 30 years, the gulf coast still has signs of katrina..be smart, start a recycle program for people in need..
So Sad, Thank you for Posting this video Dr Carter Vet. I hope international help comes soon for these people who lost everything.
They should divert 10 billion to help the island and help all the stores that are disappearing in United States and help the American people
Please take note , if ya'll not rebuilding with cement blocks and concrete roof you will have the same devastating problem. Wood and zink is not the way to go as you can see..Wishing you all the best in recovering.
Wow, this video is even more graphic than the others I saw 😢 Thank you for the up close and detailed report. It's heartbreaking
Father, Bring Healing, Peace, Comfort And Financial Help To these people. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
It seems so surreal to see such a beautiful, colorful place destroyed by high destructive winds from a hurricane like Beryl. The music playing makes it more surrealistic, devastating to the lives of so many people affected. Life is prescious. You did a fantastic job bringing this to the whole world to see and feel. Help will come. It might take years to make all that devastation go away, but the teamwork of others it will be a beautiful, colorful once again. Trust in the Lord and his FATHER. Amen!!!!
It's a real disaster and looks like a horror movie...😢 I hope that local people will find a strength to rebuild it all 🙏
We need to rethink how to build houses now, with climate change and mother nature, I'm thinking concrete/ cement roof
I left there just last Wednesday, and you passed right by where I stayed. Shockingly, it is in seemingly good condition in the midst of all that destruction. I can say with all certainty now that I will never value material possessions again, especially over life. They truly mean nothing, at least not as much as the family. Only family will stay back and rebuild. God bless them and keep them safe.
I said a prayer for those affected by hurricane Beryl, may God give all those affected the strength to get over this horror and may they all come out of this stronger.
That looks rough. It will take a while to rebuild. We went through Katrina here in Mississippi in 2005. It took ten years before it even started to look normal, and about five more to return to normal.
This is so so sad. May God be with His people.
Thanks again!! It is really sad to see the extent of the destruction.
That’s so brave of you to film all of this to try and help the people on the island. I hope that they get lots of assistance and can recover.
I am very sadden by the devastation of Carriacou. If I was rich, I would build new homes for everyone. I have clothes and other things I could donate if someone can let me know how I can do that.
Spent a lot of time in Carriacou as cruisers during Covid and made lots of friends along the way. Difficult to see our easy way way of life while there has been made hard for locals and the community of boaters that stayed. It always takes time, but it will be 🔥 again.
Thank you for taking the video. We sailed in to Tyrell Bay about 10 years ago and thought it was a lovely place. We hope that this lovely island can recover. Our hearts go out to all the residents.
This is truly so hard to watch as I know wonderful people who live in Carriacou. The emotional and financial losses are unimaginable, and I will make sure I donate to the Red Cross. So far away, it is impossible for me to physically help any other way -but I do pray!
