    I went to the doctor today. I lost 3 pounds this week! I'm like, what?! Wow! I've lost 35 pounds in 2 and a half months. IF and keto with walking daily has really changed my life. My energy level is amazing. I'm so grateful to God for guiding me to this channel. You and Dr. David Jockers are wonderful people. Thank you both so very much.

    Everyday now since learning from Dr Eric Berg I'm having an omelet made using coconut oil (cold pressed, unrefined and virgin) I add spinach, bell peppers and green chilli (rough chopped).
    Oddly within a few days I'd also yesterday gone unintentionally 18 hours without food while I was out and didn't feel hungry at all, all I had was ground black coffee and apple cider vinegar tonic before heading out. I'm glad to see the emphasis on the vegetables with increase in fats, it's something I'd not given much thought to increase but will be mindful going forward.

    I just wanted to add that beans supposedly have a chemical in them that helps to prevent blood sugar spikes. I remember one study that said if you ate 2 meals with beans in them (back to back), by the third meal you could drink a pepsi and not spike your sugar. That might nullify the carbohydrate concern you have, if true. Of course, eating them just once a day would have a diminished effect. The effect builds over time with consistent consumption.

  • @DennisFrancispublishing

    I've been following you since I've started low carb to keto transition. Your videos have been amazing and very clear and consistent. Sad to say that I have to hold off on beans (my favorite) until I hit my health goals.

    This is a great video. I am at the hormonal change stage and fighting the battle of the bulge despite working out with weights and interval training at least 5 days a week. Sometimes 7 days. The POINT is black beans contain a lot of Fiber, hence Net Carb Figure is LOW. Net Car Figure is Carbs---Fiber= Net Carb. Hence Fiber locks the Carbs(sugars) in & stops them from being absorbed. A lot of vegan bodybuilders live on black beans. Scott Bernhard is an example.

      John 3 : 16 - What you said. Not true. Im 40. Ive been on my back for 4 months with an injury to my spine. My calories are 70% carbs, 20% fats and 10% protein. I eat 1 cup of oatmeal per day, 150-200g of beans and other starches such as quinoa and potatoes and I lost 47 pounds in three months.
      I eat avocados, walnuts, onions and mushrooms on a daily basis because these foods have angiogenesis inhibitors, which stop the body from storing fat in its fat cells.
      In addition to the beans i also eat berries - both of these foods slow glucose absorption for upto 5 meals. This is called the "second meal effect"
      I have also made sure i eat 2000 calories per day.
      Its the calorie counting, the glucose slowing foods and the angiogenesis inhibitors in the foods that contribute to weight loss.

But in this video you seem to promote high protein and low fat, could you explain how ketogenic diet supposed to work, not to get theological but there is a book where all the other books harmonize with each other but most of your videos contradict each other. • @kmax7163
      @kmax7163 Před 6 lety +7

      Yes I've notice just a bit of contradictions too. I'm beginning to think that there are many many different types of human physiology out there and diets need to be varied all the time to keep the body in an always adaptation mode. In addition, people in other parts of the world use certain foods all the time in their cooking cultures. That same continuous use of food however, may not be good for an American. Just one example is Germany. They eat a lot of greasy meats (sausages) yet Germans dont die with an 80% heart attack rate. Bodies adapt. And I'm thinking perhaps mix up the diet as much as possible. Keeping the body on its toes may be good for it, but of course sugar and gmo's have to go.

    here's the short of it ::
    Protein burns 20-30% of its calorie content to digest it , called the thermogenic effect
    Carbs about 7-10%
    Fats 0-3%
    This means if you eat 2000 calories of proteins you will only absorb about 1500 calories
    CArbs around 1800 calories and fats around 1950 calories.
    Thats why having a high protein diet which is calorie deficient before the thermogenic effect , plus cardio will create fast weight loss.

    • @EnterJustice
      @EnterJustice Před 7 lety +9

      The thermogenic effect is real. But that's not the essence of this video. The essence of this video is: 1) fat is ok, as long as you eat plenty of veggies to prevent your liver from malfunctioning, 2) foods high in carbs tend to be low in nutrients, and 3) foods that are high on the glycemic index are to be avoided.
      It's a shame he ignored potatoes though, which are high in starch but also very nutrient-dense. Combine them with lean proteins and vegetables to lessen their impact on blood sugar, and they're actually a decent addition to the diet. Cheap too.

      Wrong. Hormones are far more important than the thermogenic effect, particularly insulin. Learn a bit.

    Another simple, interesting and easy to digest presentation but I couldn't help but notice not all of the numbers tallied up to make 100%. The protein, carbs and fat did add up to a total of 100 in the Humus section but not all of the food types discussed in this video did. I hope Dr Berg will do a more thorough on Rosacea, which I enjoyed but it was brief and a video on what food types might help people suffering with sun allergies would be most useful. Thank you and good luck.

    Great video, lots of good information. I have been incorporating seeds into my diet mostly flax and chia. Are these good sources as they are very nutrient rich? should I continue to consume them or leave them alone?

    Very educational video dr. Berg. Now I know why I have a fatty live . Love eggs for breakfast. I don’t eat bread so I would have them with just a tomato and cucumber onion and sometimes avocado. I stated adding a handful of spinach and peppers 🌶 to my eggs .

    Another great video doc! My only caveat is to forget about store bought yogurts. Make your own using milk kefir grains and 10-48% cream instead. Firstly, as is, they contain less carbs than most store bought yogurts. More importantly most of the remaining carbs & sugars get fermented out the longer it ferments. You'll know it's virtually carb & sugar free after it's been sitting 6 months in your fridge and is more sour than raw lemons. Perfect for keto diets!

    Man! what a great explanation Dr. Eric did by breaking down things in to pieces. I understood almost everything just by watching first time even being not native to the English language. Doc you have tremendous amount of knowledge about body's complex system and foods etc. Thanks man for the clear and knowledgeable videos.

    Eat Cheese, nuts, veggies ; eliminate beans, oatmeal, hummus, yogurt. Attention to sugar, not so much carbs, not fat as long as veggies.

    agree with everything but the oat nutrients part.... oat is full of nutrients... how can he say it's low on nutrients!?.. oats have plenty of minerals (manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper and abit of potassium and calcium as well plus B1 vitamin)

    OMG this video was such a eye opener for me. I as diagnosed with fatty liver and type 2 diabetes and I was shocked since I do not drink alcohol and I thought that was the only thing that lead to liver diesease. This video was so educational for me I have a better understanding about what I eat and I have always thought I had a good understanding of what was "good" and what was bad and boy have I been wrong. This is the first video I have watched that really explained everything so clearly. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Can't thank you enough!!
