From the early 90's to the mid 2000's Richmond supporters had nothing. We were mostly cellar dwellers who got an absolute hiding every second week but we had Richo! He was the reason we still jumped on the train every weekend to go to the "G" knowing we were going to lose. Richo is Richmond royalty.....EAT EM ALIVE

Right now, A-League is miles upon miles behind the AFL on membership numbers, as of June 1st 2022, the A-League has a total count of 82,870 people that have chosen a club to be a member of. As of June 1st 2022, AFL club memberships reached a total tally of 1,043,604. Soccer is far, far, far behind the AFL when it comes to popularity in Australia.

Watching Richo, Kingy, Tuck and all the other Richmond greats play brought so much happiness to my life, Glad he got to celebrate with them, he's always a tiger.
We can only imagine what Richo could have done if he was playing alongside our champions today.

I'm American and I know Richo I watched AFL everyday before school back in the day...He's why Richmond is still my favorite team to this day

Well nobody ever knew where the ball would go when he kicked it,,, I tell you what, during those dark days RICHO was one of the few that brought hope to ALL, CANNOT question his passion or skill a GREAT mark and ball getter a GREAT KICK FROM OUTSIDE 50. Hardcore West Coast supporter here but my Dad and Grandad are die hard Richmond supporters and they're my second team, I cried when I saw Richo in tears and I'm crying to it again now, loved watching him when I was growing up as a kid

I’m a hawks fan but I have a Matthew Richardson Piece in my footy room. Idolised him growing up ❤
One of the all time greats in not just Richmond history but in the history of the AFL. His 800 goals is the most by a player who never won a Coleman Medal. He was a very bright shining light during a dark period of Richmond notoriety and infamy in terms of lack of finals success.
In the NRlL sharks legend Andrew ettinghausen was in tears after the sharks won their first premiership . Love the tigers and Richo
The tigers in about 10 -12 years are going to have one of the greatest ever AFLW teams ever assembled if all their daughters can play half as good as their fathers!

Used to love watching Richo play when at times our performances werent great but when Richo had a blinder and the tiges got up it was fantastic bloody shame he never played in a premiership but 2017 meant a lot for Richo and all of us fans after so much pain

Much as I disdain the Tigers atm, I was kind of happy for Richo in 17, and their many supporters who had to wait 37 years for a flag. Heck those under 40 wouldn't even remember the 80 premiership. As an Eagles fan who's never had to wait more than 12 years that's hard to imagine.

@@ayatollahofarocknrolla403 No, totally disagree with that statement, my parents support Essendon in the AFL and Souths in NRL, I support neither, I personally believe its more interesting to support another team as it adds more rivalry when those 2 teams play one another, living in the same house supporting the same team is just boring, I'm so glad my parents gave me the choice of supporting a different team! Each to their own though.
If they choose their club they choose a new home.
