Everyoneâs an expert 10 years on. Youâd have laughed at Gale 10 years ago. Youâd have laughed harder 5 years ago. What theyâve done is amazing and they deserve enormous credit, but these interviews need to be viewed in the context of the time it was shot.

@@AlonsoRules Of course they and every other club knew he was good, but they thought guys like Scully and Trengove were more 'solid citizen' types who would be 'captaincy material' they could build their list around. Crazily making Trengove the youngest captain in the history of the league (albeit co-captain with Jack Grimes who was only 2 years older) didn't help him or them.

As an Essendon supporter I am super jealous of Richmond from the last 5 years they acknowledged an issue early, rectified it as soon as they could and put the right people in place to get the club on track.

@@stimpy1969 it's only relative. We've had a good run in the past and will again in the future and no one will judge us based on this period of mediocrity. Carlton has been worse over a longer period with so many number 1 picks it's funny people now feel sorry for them so they leave them alone.
Carlton is closer to a flag then Essendon is and that makes me feel sad. Both clubs were once big clubs that were competing every year for flags and since the new decade both clubs have failed Richmond early on were a basket case and Same with hawthorn and also Geelong but they have all won multiple flags and were all not great early 2000 because they rectified the issues early enough we have not developed anyone of note since Watson we have a couple good players that are coming through and some players of some ability come through but we have been so disorganised this year was hard to watch but it makes sense when your president is outgoing and doesn't do media, your captain is on the sidelines for most of the year your coach is sending mixed messages and taking cheap shots at the clubs and your incoming coach has done bearly any media it's hard to say our club is healthy ATM and unless we get some consistency and structure in place we will stay mediocre. I want Essendon to succeed and be successful it's just hard to stay the course when your club is in no where land.
I think woosher should come back to fix things up at Essendon. Maybe another 10 years at the Helm ???

I wouldn't of shown him a complete disregard for what he was trying to.say, and had a little more respect for the mans genuine prospective thought. He genuinly raised the concerns and said this is our plan. To which they( The journalists who seem to know more about running a football club than anyone else) said in no better terms "you fool"

As a bulldogs fan, itâs awesome to see this. Brendan Gale comes in during a time of legitimate crisis and publicly backs his team to go from a joke to the most powerful club in the competition in 10 years. He had a goal, a plan to get there and he did it. Every club should take a leaf out of his book.

Tigers pre Dusty were a pretty sore sight. As a Richmond supporter, I was pretty skeptical when he said 3 finals series by 2020. I wasn't sure whether Dimma was the right man for the job. I never thought I'd live to see the Tigers win a flag let alone 3 in 4 years and 2018 it was only 15 minutes of poor footy against Collingwood in the prelim. Otherwise it may have been 4 in 4 years. Brendon Gale should be very proud of what he's done for this club. Also Neale Balme who is a premiership magnet. Every club he goes to wins a premiership. I'm so proud of the tigers now and they still have a very young list. There's is no reason why we can't win a third straight flag. Go Tigers in 2021

Port supporter who was shattered in the 6 Point loss to Richmond. After watching this I'm proud of Richmond for proving the doubters wrong. I remember both Richmond and Carlton always sitting near the bottom or below mid table when I was growing up. How the times have changed. And while it would have been nice to win a premiership I know with Ports list we are in with a hot chance over next few years.
Honestly I was pretty gutted port vs Doggies. As a tigers supporter last years game was phenomenal, and would love to see u guys win next year :)

Brendon Gale ,legend of my club,March started the ball rolling ,then passed the baton to Peggy ,Brendon and Dimma,all that pain of the past has been eroded by the toils and hard work of my club and I could not be more proud.
The Richmond transformation is an example of why the AFL is a coaches league. For years people wanted Hardwick to be sacked. The organisation put the right assistant coaches around him to execute his gameplan and they built a dynasty. I should know because Iâm a crowâs supporter and Richmond crushed my heart in the 2017 GF
Brendon proved them wrong. He is a visionary and that vision came true. 3 flags and over 100k members later he achieved what he said heâd get by 2020. Incredible.

Probably should have had three already after going into a prelim in 2018 as pretty short favourites. Even if they don't win this weekend, they've done a bloody awesome job to turn the club around.
Richmond wouldn't necessarily have won in 2019 without learning the hard lessons of 2018.

I think it is just so unbelievable that we hit the 3 flags, 100,000 members for years in a row and obviously, zero debt (which occurred prior to the flags) It just goes to show that the players and coach are only a part of it. The organisation is so important to the overall vision and success.
