The Last AdvantEdge Plus ever produced?

  • Between late 2001 and 2002 Whelen stopped producing the Advantedge Plus 4000 and in 2003 they launched the 4500, which offered similar options but used a different frame and lenses. The 4500 would eventually also replace the edge plus as Whelen's only flush/surface mount lightbar.
I bought the AdvantEdge in the video (New Old Stock) thinking it was a very early one due to the "brushed" rotators. When I opened it I was surprised to find 2001 dated components, including snap-in versions of the 73 series lights at the end. The rotators were not the early brushed style but rather the later style that was used in the cadet beacon for over 5 more years. I believe this bar is a late (maybe the last) AdvantEdge Plus, built while it was being discontinued and the 4500 being launched. The components are dated at the end of the production run the product, and are not the same as the ones used in the "official last generation" of the bar.

Great video. What type is the large amber strobe beacon on the floor?
