    Hi! I’m mostly shooting self-portrait and always shooting vertical. Currently using A6400 body+16mm sigma lens. Can you please recommend a good tripod for this heavy setup? I just broke a Manfrotto tripod because the camera and lens are too heavy and not sure which one to get. Thank you.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi! Could you tell me which manfrotto did you use? The a6400 with the sigma is not that heavy, the tripod should easily handle that weight. I have a noname tripod and it easily handle my a7s3 with a sigma24-70 and its much more heavy setup. But i think i would check this tripod: amzn.to/3KA9Upe

    Hello, awsome portraits out there! Could you please tell me which color luts are you using? and do you use ND filters for 16mm?

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  Před rokem

      Thank you! I appreciate that. For photography usually I don't use ND-s. If I want some long exposure shots, then I use a variable ND. For CZcams videos I usually lazy to use ND-s and I just crank up the shutter speed. For clients I use ND-s, for achieving the best motion blur(180 degree rule). I usually use my own Lightroom presets to edit the pictures. If you're interested, you can check it on my website: ptrsroom.com

    Great video Peter, I'm thinking about paring this lens to my Sony A6100 for vlogging. What are your thoughts, do you think this will increase the quality of my videos and photos, considering the "kit lens" is not that great?

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I have a video about this topic which is a comparison between the kit lens and the sigma 16mm. Here is the link: czcams.com/video/roIx6Kn21qc/video.html But I answer your question here too. I would vlog with the kit lens instead of the sigma, cause the kit lens is one of the best vlogging lens in my opinion. Lightweight, small, wide, stabilized. The Sigma is not lightweight, not small, wide, but not stabilized. The image is better and looks really nice, but in vlogs in my opinion the "quality" is not that important. The story is more important. You can see in CZcams a lot of people make really viral vlogs and videos only with a GoPro. Which is not comparable in quality with a milc. So I would go for the kit lens for vlogging. The sigma is a really good lens, you can make really great shots and also the 1.4 bokeh on the wide angle looks as great as my main FF lens which is almost 5 times pricier than the sigma 16mm. And the quality and sharpness is also so much better in the sigma. But here I have to stop, cause the sharpness or quality is not that important. Looks great, but it not elevate your idea behind the photos or videos. It's just looks great. The idea behind your photos, the story, meaning, feelings, lighting, techniques are much more important than a single quality or sharpness. And I think after you watch my video what I mentioned, you can see that most of the times there is not that much differences between the two. But despite all this, I really like the sigma 16mm and I use it almost everyday. Great all around lens, which can mimic the sony 24mm 1.4 GM lens. And also it's really useable for vlogging, for talking heads, and it looks cinematic. It could elevate the quality of your videos, but not the story, framing, lighting, colorgradeing, editing, etc... I would buy that lens again, cause I really like that 1.4 aperture. It gives such a dreamy look. I hope it could help you. Have a nice day! 😎

      @@petersroom Wow!!! I don’t know what to say Peter, thank you for taking the time to respond with such a professional perspective, with great tips and advice.
      For whatever reason, I feel like the kit lens for my Sony A6100 is grainy and NOT sharp which is the main reason I am motivated to get the Sigma 16mm f1.4 because I’d be using it for my developing CZcams Channel, and I’d like the quality to be up to par, with the rest of the content that’s being put out in the world.
      Thy might be a bit of an exaggeration, because to your point. It ideally comes down to lighting, story, and editing techniques I would assume.
      Im trying to go for that “cinematic” look audio and visually.

      @@Kee.Sace3.0 You're welcome! Thank you for asking! Than i think the sigma would be perfect. I love how nice the image is. Sharp subject with creamy background. Hello..I am looking for a lens for my A6700. Already have the Sigma 56mm f1.4. Would like to add something good and wide for landscape photography but at the same time have good low light performance and also be a good choice for Astrophotography. Would you suggest the Sigma 16mm or Viltrox 13mm?
    Note : Landscape would be mostly mountains,valleys and lakes

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  Před měsícem

      Hi! I would prefer sigma and tamron for third party lenses because of the autofocus. I heard a lot of stories about viltrox and samyang which was unreliable and the focus hunt a lot. I think for landscape the sigma 16mm could be enough, but if you want more room to play than i would go for the sony 11mm f1.8.

    Sigma 16mm or the Viltrox 13mm? For my A6600 and hopefully the next A6700.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  Před rokem

      It's a good question. It depends on what would you like to shoot. I think the sigma 16mm is a very versatile wide focal length. If i would go wider, i'll go wider, cause the 13mm is not wide enough in my opinion. I would rather go a 10mm on APSC. Like the sony 10-15 or tamron 11-20. But it depends on what do you want to shoot and your shooting style. Thank you for asking.✌

    Does it make sense to get it if already have sigma 18-50 ?

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  Před rokem +3

      It's a good question. I would say no, because the 2.8 aperture can be enough for most of the situations. The sigma 16mm will be a little brighter and little wider. Thats all. The 18-50 is a better all around lens. I would go for a wider lens, which can cover bigger focal length range like the sony 10-18 f4 oss. And you'll be fine from 10mm-50mm. The Sigma 16mm is a very good lens, but in this situation i dont think that it makes any sense. Have a nice day! 😎

    I'm confused between the Sony 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 and the Sigma 16mm F1.4. I just bought the Sony A6400 with the 16-50mm kit lens, but I'm not happy with the kit lens. I intend to shoot indoor videos and photography, so low light performance is important. Should I buy the Sony 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 or the Sigma 16mm F1.4?

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  Před měsícem

      Thank you for asking! The sony 18-135 would perform the same as the 16-50 but with a little bit extended range. If you want better zoom lenses than go for the sigma 18-50 f2.8 or tamron 17-70 f2.8. Those are quie decent in lowlight. But if you want extreme good low light performance, than go for a prime like the sigma trio. 16mm 30mm 56mm 1.4. Otherways I don't know what would you shoot indoors, so if you have a chance i would use lights instead of buying better lenses. With good lighting a "bad" lens could produce amazing results. With bad lighting an "excellent" lens would produce shitty images :D. Lighting is the king!

    • @sifur_rahman
      @sifur_rahman Před měsícem
