    I’m in prep. Having some major knee issues. I love stairs- it’s the only thing that gets my heart rate up BUT in this situation how don you feel about switching to long steady state cardio with a much lower HR target if I can do it for longer?

    What is an ideal target heart rate for LISS? Is the MAF formula a good place to start? Any and all insight provided will be greatly appreciated.

      Ideal just depends on the goal. For benefits of cardiovascular fitness ~65% of max heart rate is a good start point. For fat loss, doesn't matter per say, as we just need enough activity and low enough calories across the day as a whole.

    Have a question about the heart rate during cardio-
    Luke mentioned that using the heart rate is helpful since it allows for the "adaption" to cardio. When introducing high androgens, I noticed that my resting HR increases, and my average heart rate during the same cardio metrics goes up.
    Would that imply that calorie burn during the exercise also increases?

    What about if you been getting in 10k steps everyday for the past 5 months. Does it mean those 10k steps the first month you performed burnt more kcal then on month 5, since your body got adjusted just like the heart rate at a treadmill if you use it a lot and get more efficient?

      Pretty much yeah, body adapts to a constant stimulus, calories are still burned but less

      There was a study that showed experienced runners burned 5 to 7% less calories than nonathletic people, so a run for the newbie burns 500 calories and the runner burns 470 calories. This is not a large difference, and if you track cardio and steps, you can *slowly* increase the amount if weight loss stalls.

      Hey, for steps the adaption needed for that level of activity is really low. So, you are not going to see large changes in output as just walking does challenge you muscle or cardiovascular wise enough. Initially if you were sedentary, but this is likely not the case.

    How do you approach the "cardio vs calorie" for an individual with hypothyroidism? I'm currently really struggling with this at the moment.

      @@jcpaul6824 Hey Jc, yeah I figured thyroid hormone is likely in place for you already and if that is, then it really would not change my approach then. The thyroid drops very quick in a calorie deficit and really this is not food vs cardio as both will do it. The more aggressive the deficit and the leaner the starting point the faster we see thyroid down regulate. So same approach really. Pick the lesser evil of the 2 or a little bit of both to drive fat loss.

    If her water breaks during the night you don’t have to rush 100 mph to the hospital 😂 I know because I did and the nurse was like ohhh baby nahh you shoulda let her shower and get ready before coming here I was like ma’am there was an ocean of water in my bed 😂 I’m 4 kids deep her water broke only on the last on natural and it was different 😂

    Calories are a measurement of heat energy, not the amount contained within food digested by the human body. Please stop using calories in human nutrition 🙏

      I understand your point for sure, but this has moved based the literal definition of calories for what is nutritional accepted as understanding communicating intakes of energy.

      @@johnjewett7970 the measurement itself of faulty, the margin of error is so far off that the use of this calculation is what the English might call 'pissing in the wind'. There are better ways to calculate these things. I'd be happy to link you to some videos which explain this in a point by point fashion if this helps. Mr Jewett is an intelligent man and once understanding the mistake will be able to deliver the correct information. I am certain of this. Why do something less optimal when we are spending thousands of hours and coin to optimise our performance
