It’s actually also possible to perfect dodge this attack by rolling into him, but the window is so inhumanly tight it’s basically like rolling a die, pure dumb luck whether you get it or not. You basically need to initiate the roll in what feels like the exact 1 frame before you would get hit, so the first swing makes contact during the very start of your dodge & the second swing comes right in the middle/at the end of your dodge while your s are still active. Managed it once while I was doing test runs to learn his 1st phase, never again. This is also not viable at all, because depending on exactly where you’re standing in front of the boss, like exactly center or just slightly to the right/left, the frame you’d need to perfectly time would always be different. Still to me personally one of the most fun fights ever though…
You can also use raptor of the mist ash of war to dodge the first 2 hits then roll the double slash just dont attack when using raptor of the mist since you will be stuck in the end lag of the move, you also need to be not to close to him otherwise the second swing will hit(you might be able to attack if you use a faster weapon i only tested with the zweihander) good luck
So I guess the foolproof 'solution' for roll only is to make the entire wincon of your fight, humping his right leg. I'd say that he has quite decently long punish windows especially after his upheaval combo ender, but I guess using an Ash of War that uses most of the punish window is no good if you're not at his right leg by the time you finish your own animation.
This boss had so many moves I didn't know how tf to dodge, figured you gotta roll backwards 3x after the spin, run to the side and dodge last second when he does rock sling, and second phase I don't know what I was doing. Especially when the meteor strike came, just got lucky after 8 hours of trying lol
I beat i'm with just 2 normal rolling for this attack and it was fine. For me it was the gravity rocks attack, i've never found the consistent strat for that
@@AkioJunichiro In phase 1 you just run to the left or right and jump when they are about to hit you, in phase 2 you gotta run as far away as possible from him when he's in the air, then run right + jump when the rocks get close, then continue running for his holograph attacks and dodge on the fifth. Does it need to specifically be the crucible feather or can the All Crucible talisman suffice as well? Or is the latter actually have lesser invincibility than the Feather?
its the worst attack by any boss in any souls game, u have to force urself to the left side of him for the ENTIRE fight or u will get hit by that attack
Even if you could the boss arena is not a plain surface, meaning if you are standing on top of something that makes you a little bit higher than the normal height you will take some damage. Either you pre roll that attack or it's completely RNG '-' (worst attack ever)
Going to try to no hit him (dont laugh, i have good history with no hitting bosses) but whats the need for the secont roll? I heard it has a bugged hitbox, is that it?
Rolling out of the hit box. You can clearly see that he dodged the second attack after it went above him. You can't dodge the second hit anyways because you'll still be recovering from the dodge delay from the 1st dodge which is why the second swing attack always hits you.
Airborne projection attacks took dozen of hours and youtube investigation to figure out fully. But overall all his attacks are the matter of dodging in the right direction in the right time. And even one simple mistake can cause insta death.
Yes but for the roll only strat, you actually have yo be already walking leftward, pushing your analog leftward, so that you can just press ⭕️ when his left forehand swings. But how do you know that is his next move and that you want to preemptively start walking left; ehat if his next move demands you to roll right? And no, in wireless ps5 controller, there is no time to press both analog stick then subsequently the roll button. Pressing them simultaneously does not execute the roll. So it is still guesswork, am i right? Edit: are you saying that dodging left works for all his moves and rolling right is never necessary? Like you show us here?
@@SomeUserk There is not a single move that requires dodging right, also you have to hold left joystick to the left before you press circle/B. He telegraphs this attack by lifting his left arm, since its the only time he ever does this other than the thrust fireball attack
I see. Also, in 0:00 i see you are already in roll animation and you straightway roll again to dodge the next horizontal left forehand slash where radahn radahn’s hands both come from your right towards your left. In my experience, to dodge this immediate followup, you can use press dodge as soon as you finish rolling, or even before that, like preemptively. But this gesture where both swords come horizontally from your right is very similar to his delayed version at 0:04 that will catch you if you preemptively roll like you did in 0:00. So how do we know which one is coming next? Surely we dont have time to find the minute difference in gesture/telegraph if there is one, since as you know if it is the fast version we have to press roll again even before finishing the animation of the first roll ? I know here it seems you press roll when the swing is already otw, not when he telegraphs, but the amount of times i press roll mid enemy swing always ends in failure. You have to roll when the swing starts to be on its way, not already on its way, no?
@@waldoxyz9823 word, i haven’t played since i watched this but i feel like in the past ive tried this and it didnt work, i was just always circling around him to the left but i would get hit by the second slash every time, do you have any idea what may have been wrong like dodge direction or something like that
Even with this stuff this attack is broken af. First of all: I just can't fight him without deflect tear at all. And even these advanced tactics won't guarantee you 100% avoiding it because you have ~0,3 sec to see the attack and react to it. Lots of people just physicly can't react so fast. It requires years of training and playing very fast-paced games. And I don't even start to talk about him being able to obscure your vision to the point when you can't see shit.
For his regular moves it's the same timings as phase one. Don't dodge directly into his center or roll away from any attacks. Instead roll to his left or right, corresponding to the direction of his swings. For his airborne spam attack, you can actually outrun it if you time it right and run straight back just, remember to roll the end aoe. Edit:I'd give using the windy tear that enhances rolls a shot once you're a bit more comfortable with fight. It lasts 3 mins which is more than enough, and makes certain attacks way more forgiving. I ran 2 defensive trinkets so that offset the the increased damage taken by a bit.
I found it helpful to count his illusions to get the timing of those moves. If he sucks you in for the gravity blades, sprint back. In stage two it's the same, and then you keep running away from him when he jumps up and does illusions into the second gravity blades. Of course, easiest way is to not get pulled in in the first place.
I have a better solution: just get hit and carry on. Either Fromsoft fixes this fight or I don't see why people should be like dancing monkeys. Where's the fun in a hyper-specific choreography with virtually no personal input?
Ofc i see this after beating him already
Because it came out yesterday
I just let it hit me once and consider it a win 😅
That’s why I swapped my staff for a brass shield for this fight
The one attack that I could only ever dodge on accident
Light roll moment
You can medium roll it
light & medium have the same amount of s, only difference is distance
@@Nova-FranconiaI tried the dodge on M roll and the extra distance definitely matters since the second slice is after the s so it can hit you anyway
Ive found that if you stay right under his right (player left side) foot that attack almost never comes out.
Thanks for this video!
In the end it only matter that you roll at the very last second possible to avoid the second slash
Awesome! Thank you for showing all ways and not just saying “Use a shield bro” like so many other “guides”
You can also just regular parry him, which will briefly stun him and lock him out of the full combo
good boss design is when you need people to literally record videos on how to dodge a single attack
That has kind of always been the case
