    It's refreshing to see a youtuber actually enjoy the boss design in this game and the dlc, I personally really enjoy the more complex movesets because of the added replay value. They seem so absurd at first but you can really perfect them with time. I can't enjoy dark souls 3 the same way anymore because the bosses don't really challenge me atp.

      I have enjoyed all the souls games and eventhough the ds3 bosses might not be as challenging today i still adore its boss lineup and how most encounters have top tier music and a moveset which is not the most complex but atleast very fair

      @@drpeepee05Define fair? What does that mean exactly? Because I always hear this made up category from players, but this word doesn't seem to have a consistent and exact meaning. People use this word to describe everything they don't understand about the boss. For me most of the Elden Ring bosses seem fair after mastering them, same thing with DS3. I honestly don't see how Elden Ring bosses can be less "fair", maybe it could seem that way when you're bad against Elden Ring bosses, was the case for me back when I was only starting. Like I genuinely want to know what would make bosses like Messmer, Rellana and Bayle feel less "fair" than Friede, Gael and Midir for example

    • @Luxuriouswhite
      @Luxuriouswhite Před měsícem +12

      @@Vengeance_I_m love this comment. Although this wasn't directed at me, I classify "unfair" bosses or moves by if they are clearly cheap or broken. Examples when Bayle transitions to 2nd phase sometimes he flies through the wall and your camera unlocks and it messes you up badly. Also things like the camera in the golden hippo fight and not being able to see what he does because half the time ur stuck in his body. Gaius charge is technically fair if your light rolling and relatively easy and consistent to dodge, but I'd consider this charge overly punishing and unfair if you are medium rolling. Despite pointing out a few moves from the DLC the bosses are extremely fair and the people saying they aren't do not understand the boss mechanics well enough. Some people bitching about massive AOEs clearly don't even know you can just them with a single roll or jump and the timings on most are very forgiving

    • @SimplCup
      @SimplCup Před měsícem +18

      @@Luxuriouswhite you can dodge it easily with med roll. and also jumping makes aoe attacks a joke, even that massive placi style bayle attack when he blows up a lightning spear in the ground is funnily enough, jumpable. no joke you can just jump in front of his face when he does that attack and he'll miss, it looks funny af and you'll get a huge window to kick his ass.

    Messmer to me is the coalescence of all of fromsoftwares learnings over the years. Each piece of their iconic catalogue served as the springboard for their next.
    Messmer has, in my opinion, their best combat design, amazing character design, and a lore driven OST which compliments his character perfectly.
    Messmer and Malenia are both my favourite bosses in elden ring. This DLC was amazing.

    • @Vengeance_I_m
      @Vengeance_I_m Před měsícem +8

      @@jordan.d1475 Yes, 💯. He's essentially Malenia done right, basically a fluid dance and thrilling, peak, anime-like battle. Both would be similar in quality and regarded as the best bosses ever if Waterfowl Dance attack didn't exist. Malenia's still fun fight though, but her immeasurable potential was ruined due to that move. Honestly yes Messmer is such a great boss and imo is the best boss in SoulsBorne history. @@grimreefer213 +++. Although Malenia has one big issue (waterfowl dance), overall she's in my top 5 favourite boss fights and I always enjoy fighting her, fight is like a dance. All of these are absolutely great fights, one of the best bosses in all of SoulsBorne imo. Midra would be an S tier, the best fight in any other Fromsoft game, but unfortunately for Elden Ring he's too simple and easy to be at the very top. @@Vengeance_I_m For real, I understand Melania is not for everybody and she's very clearly overtuned and has a lot of issues, but it's that she's overtuned that kinda made it special to me. I spent so much time mastering the perfect punish windows and learning how to dodge waterfowl dance and the spirit clone attack perfectly, it made the fight so much more engaging and memorable for me. Midra is very nice to fight and flows well but it almost feels like a DS3 boss in Elden Ring. I get that a lot of people will like it for that reason in that it's pretty intuitive and you get a lot of big punish opportunities, but it's these other bosses like Maliketh, Margit/Morgott, Godfrey, Melania etc. where you have to work a little bit to unlock the best punish opportunities that makes them more interesting I think. Of course there are ways to trivialize bosses especially in the base game so your mileage may vary, and I still need to fight the DLC bosses more.

      All of his attacks can be dodged, but the upheaval is the only one where a case for unfairness can be argued. But even then, that can be dodged by running to the right and jumping. Moreover, you're very much misrepresenting the boss, stating things that outright aren't true, such as the spear being the only way to be able to fight him; It feels like intentionally or not, you're downtalking the boss to elevate the dancing lion. There are still very viable ways to fight him without the Serpent Hunter, such as shard spiral (very deadly against very large enemies like Rykard) and frostbite procs, which could easily be used by any build. Take this from someone who actually fought him without that great spear and has video proof; If you know what you're doing, it's more than possible. Moreover, the gimmick weapon is a part of the appeal of the boss. Like Storm Ruler with Yhorm or the Storm King. Not to mention an important bit of lore. It was a weapon DESIGNED to kill the likes of Rykard.

      @@Vengeance_I_m personally yes. After some time fighting OG Radahn, I didn’t enjoy him like I used to upon consecutive kills, especially since I tend to nohit bosses now (Though I’d give him credit tho. One my first playthrough he was an excellent experience but after nohitting him thrice with style builds, I don’t really enjoy him as much anymore). Consort Radahn on the other hand; I really love the entirety of the fight except for that one frame trap move that just forces you to play the game of positioning most of the time. He actually made me push myself into greater heights in skill and I love that about him (After my 1st kill, I aimed for hitless, then no aux hitless and finally Level 1 hitless; all without parries). I really enjoyed figuring out how to flawlessly dodge the illusions and I personally feel like they are actually really fun to tackle after figuring everything out. But yea, if it weren’t for the Frame Trap, Promised Consort would easily be in my top 3.

      @Vengeance_I_m Před měsícem

      @@thebluehood35 Oh I see. Yeah I can see how Promised Consort could be much more fun, since that fight requires much more skill, essentially timing and positioning. OG Radahn has one of the best build ups and presentations ever, has a really neat gimmick of summoning your own small army to take him down and his initial ranged attacks after entering the arena. Like by first impressions, Starscourge Radahn is one of the best fights ever. But for me too, the fight became boring, repetitive and annoying on consecutive playthrough. Now I simply always make it so he stops shooting arrows by running out of reach, never summon and simply hide close to Leanoard and hit Radahn's crotch, while not having to see what he's doing and his attacks flying over me. Simply unfun fight mechanics wise. Humanoid bosses with legs are much more engaging and fun. So yeah I could see why Consort could be better for some people. Rellana's become my favourite fight in the whole game, precisely because she has a great learning curve. She hits hard and fast, so at first you play a bit defensive and look for obvious openings, but they're so rare you almost always - unless you're one of those hitless pro players - likely to take a hit of some kind if you play that way. Once you figure out that you need to be going for hits, before she goes for hers, it becomes brilliant. You see her popping her glintblade phalanx? Run in, get those hits, run out. That's literally how I beat her, after many tries. Got her low, dodged the moons, just bursted her in a crazy trade-off as she phalaxnx'd. Not a clean win, but goddamn it was a fun one.

    very random thought, but you briefly mentioned how combat n mechanics in general is maxed out. and though I do sort of agree, within the context of Elden ring ofc. I think introducing the jump and crouch mechanics and NOT having many attacks that require those was intentional (I hope). gives us time to familiarize ourselves with these mechanics within combat, and get used to using them if we feel like it, though not necessary for any attack. however I hope the next game pushes it further and has attacks that you HAVE to jump over or crouch under. otherwise the hitbox will pull you with and eventually you get hit even after your roll ends. I feel like it’s the next logical step in turning up the difficulty. we’re all getting better at souls games as they continue to become more challenging, and a lot of people will be disappointed if the trend of getting more challenging doesn’t continue, so obviously some change is needed for the next entry.
