I grew up right by this house (within a block or two) but never got to go in. Some of my schoolmates were able to see a puppet show there (not sure why I missed out, I think maybe I wasn't in that specific class). Thank you for letting me finally see inside!
What sturdy architecture. This is what the building industry as a whole should be doing, restoration and house flipping. We have so many really cool vacant buildings. In every state people could find houses if more folks working in the building industry would not demolish. Love it.
No no no tear down!! What a beauty. Love all the plastering details n high ceilings. Boy would have ball in filling this with antiques LOL. I know someone will come along n fall in love with her. She deserves to live another n more 100 years. ♥️♥️😊👍👍
“You don’t deserve the house if you don’t love these stories!” Sooooo true!! I just bought a 1919 craftsman style home in PA if you guys ever come up this way! I’d love to hear your thoughts about all of the unique features of my home.
This seems too good to be true! In literally every little way. Almost like a dream or lottery. Why hasn’t it been taken in by the state and turned into museum? Hope it stays this way forever ♥️
Incredible. I hope whoever buys it keeps it in the original state. It would be a mortal sin to change it. That stove/sink/fridge/oven combo is incredible. Why aren't they making something like that now? (Did I see an elliptical machine in a bedroom? Imagine...they had those in 1820? in such great shape too!)
I wish Ann Clay could decorate this house in primitive style! I love your shows. I haven’t seen a lot of decorator info from you, Lanie. You don’t make videos of shopping. One thing I love about this house are the SHELVES! I inherited quite a few things from my father’s family. I don’t want to throw anything out.
I live in an old farm house built in 1930 here in Texas and all our inside doors have carpenter locks. I NEVER knew that's what they were clld!! Very interesting!
If I had money I would buy this is a heartbeat. I wouldn’t change a thing, just retire what needed and put in modern amenities, and work to make it all be in a way that respected the history of the house. This place is stunning. stunnning.
Your program is such a service to America's treasures. To find intact houses like this one is hard to believe but most welcome and worthy of celebrating.
I Live a block away from this house and have always wondered how it looked on the inside. That's pretty cool. The thing I like about it the most is how it's hidden abit from the road. It looks like it belongs in a movie or storybook when viewing it in real life.
Never seen a house in such original condition,it’s a true time capsule. Is the property designated landmark status? Amazing it survived the Civil War.That beeping smoke detector 😣.
I LOVE this House. Would love to be able to have the best period restoration possible. This house should be bought and restored and opened to the public. It is a time capsule.
Dearest Laine & Kevin: I thoroughly enjoy your God-given ministry, passion & teachings on older homes. The Lord had His Hand on this one 2 keep it obscure & intact like that. May you be blessed 30, 60 & 100-fold back for all the love that pours out of you. Restoration is God's will. I hope America appreciates it's glorious handiwork through such miraculous history-taking & upkeep. Love you guys, TD🕊🙏♥️🏘🏡
I'm currently renting my shed for $3K a month. There's no electric, no water, no heat and the door doesn't lock, so that's why it's so cheap. I've got lined up waiting!
I use to walk pass this house on my way to school, Robert E Lee, over 30 years ago. I'm surprised this house is being discussed since the Stamp House on highway 19 is usually the one discussed.
Oh my Goodness! Amazing to see something so perfectly preserved. I wanted to see a puppet show too! It looked liked the back of the stage would of been accessed through the bathroom ? The enthusiasm of you both and sharing all the knowledge is such a delight, and along with this incredible house , this episode was super entertaining. Love, love, loved this!
I was wondering about access to the puppet theater also, and also thought it was that little door in the bathroom! How interesting that the puppeteer stood on a ladder!
I can't tell you how much I love you and what you do!!! I would literally give ANYTHING to be able to apprentice under you. It would change my life!!!!!! I really mean that too. This is the one thing that I could see myself doing for the rest of my life! I LOVE old houses!!!
1885 victorian is what I own... none of the doors worked properly when we moved in... no keys, warped, rim locks not working and we've been slowly fixing all of it. We were amassed at how easy they were to fix.
Laine and Kevin, there is a monstrosity of a civil war era home , run down, on the top of a hill on the right side of Hwy 61 leaving Vicksburg, Ms going north. One can barely see it in winter and not at all in the summer. I caught a glimpse of it by mistake one day while heading back to the Delta. Have you seen the plantation home in Nitty Yuma, Ms ? It was moved there by the side of Hw 61. I hope y’all will have the time to try to see them, both. I have fears concerning their survival. If y’all know anything about either home, please just let me know they are secure. I have loved the Nitty Yuma home since I was a child. I even begged my ex husband to purchase her when they were moving her to the hwy. No Go on that. Every time I pass her empty walls , I imagine all manner of scenarios we could have experienced with her. This house you are introducing today is a beauty. I hope she receives the perfect owners.
Modern heating and AC would be needed of course, but so much potential here. I am amazed at that all in one kitchen piece, I would love to have that! Great house!
I found another video series made by Kellys auction house of all the items that were left behind. A shame the furniture is nit offered with the home. But a good reference as to how ti furnish. I also would live to see the inside of the other buildings.
I grew up in a folk Victorian (Queen Anne mostly) and we had skeleton keys. And we used those locks! This was in the 1970s, probably wasn't safe, but we used 'em.
I was ROFL at your video--my fiance loves antique skeleton keys and collects them. But that wasn't what really made me laugh--it was the fact I just told him yesterday that if we ever build a house we need two kitchens. 😂 We are both serious cooks and we tend to get in each other's way.
Just now coming across this video I live right down the street from this house. They use to have a plum tree in their yard and we use to sneak a get some 😂
Love love love this house! Everything about it, amazing. Wish it was in my state, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. A little crazy on the video spinning around, but I appreciate what you all do. Thank you for sharing it with us.
It's great to see old features intact and unspoiled. All that beautiful paneling could be restored. If B&B was the objective, there's space for a roomy owner's suite downstairs, leaving three of the big rooms as living and dining areas. Upstairs, you might use the small back bedrooms to create bath/dressing rooms for the front bedrooms. I will look forward to your video that includes the guest cottages.
I walked past this house on the way to school every morning. I wanted to buy this house when I was a young man but a friend of mine Judge J.R. Brewer said this house would probably never be sold.
Is it in my house or there is a fire alarm low battery signal bipping in your 1820s house? This house is AMAZING with the cuttest little cottage in the back garden. This place is straight from a Grimm story. Laine your tours are very interesting as you are very knowledgeable on architecture in the South.
I've been binging your channel the last few days. I needed a spoiler alert about Louise. I'm so sorry you lost her. I have a question about the original paint on the walls of this house. Would you repaint or just clean? That house is amazing.
Wow what a breath taking home It feels cozy snug and relaxing. Wow that puppet stage I wanted it to be creepy but it sure isn't. Wow is all I can say. What does the upstairs bathroom door go to?
I would think the rooms at the far Back of the house are the earliest. Probably two cottages hooked together? Then the addition of the two story with the central hall. Then the 1 story with the grand entrance and bigger parlors. At some point the original front of the house or cottages became the back of the house. When the 1 story grand entrance was added they ripped out the modest farm house (probably enclosed) staircase for an open staircase which was the fashion at the time.
This is my favorite, beautiful lines, small intimate rooms and excellent subtle color scheme. Love the touch of blue and purple in the curtains. My only concern would be security with all the glass in the doors (breakable). I'd probably put in either a door gate or a 2nd door on the outside of the original. Actually, would the window glass need to be replaced? I'm always afraid of break-ins.
I grew up right by this house (within a block or two) but never got to go in. Some of my schoolmates were able to see a puppet show there (not sure why I missed out, I think maybe I wasn't in that specific class). Thank you for letting me finally see inside!
That’s so cool! We need to find a good owner for this gem!!
Love reading YOUR story. I am from CA and always wanted to grow up in a “Character” town and neighborhood.

Such a rare find! That house has been lovingly cared for for generations. I hope whoever buys it respects it as much as they did.

No house built today would last this long!
Well just have to wait and see lmao😂😂. Concrete and Rebarb construction is looking like it might outlast this lmao

Utterly amazing historical treasure. Thank you for revealing this house to us. What a fascinating tour!
These hard wood floors are just so beautiful...

Sitting here with jaw dropped trying to imagine all the many generations of life that happened here.
Love the house. Absolutely beautiful! I also hope the new owner doesn’t change anything at all. I would keep everything as it is now. Gorgeous!
3 months ago I saw this house and am still in love with it. If I could I would move and buy it for sure.
Appreciate your passion for and knowledge of these old homes. This one in particular is a favorite of mine.
I LOVE this House. Would love to be able to have the best period restoration possible. This house should be bought and restored and opened to the public. It is a time capsule.
Iam amazed that this house retained so much of its original features over time

I get so excited watching your house tours. I love, love, love the history!
omg, they're only selling it for $200K!!! I couldn't buy a 1 bedroom condo in Toronto for under $500K
I should buy it, I wouldn't change a thing!
You SHOULD buy it! The weather is much better here 🤣
I hear that.
You can get s garage for 750k in Toronto

I am in love with this house. My father-in-law lives about 20 mins away. We were just visiting and I wish I had known about tbis.
OMG!!! I sure wish I could get this house! You would HAVE to keep the puppet theater! I couldn’t really change anything, even the kitchens!

Thank you so much for the love! There was a ladder at the base of the stairs that they used to put on the show.
I was wondering about access to the puppet theater also, and also thought it was that little door in the bathroom! How interesting that the puppeteer stood on a ladder!
I love this house with every fiber of my being!!!
this is my hometown. Upson was founded in 1824 and the city of Thomaston in 1825
My Grandma had a sink, stove , refrigerator combo like that

Oh my!! Totally in love with this house!!
Just found your channel this weekend and it’s fabulous! I love all the background info! Thank you for all your videos!
Our 1931 bungalow still had a skeleton key in the attic door. I framed that baby!! :)

Stunner house with awesome history! Thanks for sharing.
Thank u for the 1820 year reminder-I had already forgotten!
Our 1870 still has her skeleton key for the side porch exterior door. Still works too.
I love historical homes ! specially this one since my last name is Weaver .
You give such great tours and are so funny and you love the houses! Connie
Amazing!!So interesting.
Great tour. Love these old houses. Thx😁
Used to go through Thomasville on the way to Clark Hill Reservoir. Little hole in the wall had the best BBQ and brunswick stew.
What a beautiful home.
Omg all the wood walls . Beautiful beautiful beautiful
I had that, sink/stove/ burner and fridge combo, in my college apt.
When I was a child we lived for awhile in a house built in 1782 in Massachusetts. It had 9 over 9 windows.
Look at about 845/930 you can see a ORB, it’s floating around you , you could say I have the site also

I looked up this home and it sold for only $180 thousand, I would have loved to have this home to live in.
Our 1900 queen Anne came with a pewter box with the skeleton keys, all labeled with wire holding the tags to all 4 floors
I want this house so bad! It calls to me, so beautiful!
