@@judy123, but Laine knows what she's talking about, has a pleasing voice and props to Kevin for being an excellent videographer! I watch the young men going through old, abandoned homes and they make up stories about the families that used to live in them. They don't have the knowledge that Laine and Kevin have and I find myself saying out loud to the video, "Hey, what's that fireplace surround made of?" or, "That wood on the staircase is amazing, tell me about it!" and all they say is "wow, that's a 'sick' fireplace!" or "Look at this staircase! Wow, it's insane!" Something for everyone, but I love you two and your knowledge! And, Laine, your voice has a salesperson quality to it that's pure gold. Happy, smiling, not high-pitched. Just lovely. :)

This house is a true money pit. But if you have the 3-4 million it will take to restore it (the official quote given for just the house-not the grounds was 2 mil. before construction prices skyrocketed.), the result would be priceless. The problem is that the house is overpriced for the location-Augusta is on the lower end of the price spectrum. There is a lot of good stuff here but there is a lot of deterioration and wear and tear on a house that hasn’t been maintained-there is a lot she doesn’t show!

😂. I’m sure it is the “money pit”. I love that movie! My husband and I bought an older rock exterior farm house built in the 20’s. I thought we just needed to clean it and do a few things but after ripping the walls to the studs, replacing all the drywall, tape and bed, sanding down floors and restraining, epoxy countertops, painting the cabinets, having someone try to put more supports under the floors that were sagging I can say that there is still things to do. I now have back aches from drywall but I am an expert at tape and bed. I had already tiled and did some plumbing before. I never knew we would be retiring and messing with plumbing. I still see houses like this and think it would be fun to fix them up. If you pay someone else to do it all it might be easier on your back and be done faster but it has been fun.

@@annaramos9774 Thanks for your insight and honesty Anna! Have to say i like the "grounds" more than the house. It is beautiful, big and has many nice features but wow, i kept thinking how and why was this house allowed to deteriorate so much. A lot of work needs to be done, too much. I wonder what the history of the house is. Was it a plantation house? Someone had a whole lot of money to build and live there back in the day. How did this house fall into ruin? No family to hand it down to? The cost for purchase is high, and no doubt the proper restoration will take a couple more millions. Someone that has that and needs a big project could bring it back.

When I was a teenager we lived in a house built in 1882 and the bedroom closets were about a foot deep with hooks on the back wall. My father had to move the wall between my brother's room and mine to make a more reasonable 20th century closet for both of us. Watching in awe of this beautiful house, never knowing it is in Augusta, Georgia until the end. My mother lives a few miles from here and I have never seen it. How is this possible???? I mean I am there every month. Gorgeous, I can not wait to mention it to mom and hope to see it soon.

I always loved their home, and have great memories of playing in the many spacious rooms. I must admit that it’s not nearly as big as I remembered it from my childhood, and nowhere close to the size of the one you just showed us.

Camera pannng and focus along with music were spot on and perfect. You are so knowledgeable about the history of our country's architecture and interior design but additionally your love and passion shows when you host these walk through videos.
This property was indeed spectacular. From those fabulous peacock like lighting fixtures to that time travel exquisite bathroom with the shower.
So intact that I can easily imagine how beautiful it all was with a large family and house of servants and gardeners. I hope another young family with the means and wear with all to finish restoration of the house and garden, buys it to fill all those all those beautiful rooms and bring it alive and glorious like it was in its Hey Day.

Looks like someone repainted the ceiling of the port cochlear, in 1800’s Augusta it would mostly likely have been painted a pail robins egg blue know as “Haint Blue”. A traditional color in most of the Deep South particularly Augusta GA which is known as one of the most haunted cities in the country. Haint Blue was used to paint the insides of lintels, door jams and porch ceilings in an effort to keep spirits of the dead from disturbing the homes of the living.
