Just an update here: The Viture One Mobile Dock does NOT work with Nreals. So if you wanted to use the dock on NREALs, I'm sad to report that it's flaky at best

Thanks for the great review Phawx! Our speakers' reverse sound field (the reason you can hear it and the person sitting next to you can't) was designed in collaboration with HARMAN, and in addition to our versatile Mobile Dock, our diopter adjustments are one of many things that set us apart from other XR devices on the market - we're so glad you're liking VITURE One and that you've noticed the improvements in our production models!
And thanks to our supportive Kickstarter backers for the Matte Indigo option. 😎

@madbruv BVD is Binocular Vision Dysfunction. This can be from offset eyes or "lazy eye", but basically, my brain does not like to combine the images it takes in and instead just uses the information it gets from one eye only. I'm going through a sort of physical therapy to fix this, but sometimes this isn't enough and people need prism lenses.

Need some more features reviewed please:
    - Dock: there are 3 usbc ports, can they all be used to charge other devices and their corresponding output wattage? Maybe it even works as a usb hub?
    - Dock: weight? Always weigh mobile gear in reviews please.
    - Dock: According to marketing material, I believe the HDMI is actually input; ie. you can plug a chromecast in and watch on the glasses. But if it somehow could work as HDMI output, would be nice if you could demo how that works as well.
    - Dock: in the original design, there should be volume controls, is that feature ditched?
    - Glasses: electrochromic effect - improvement over pre-production?
    - Glasses: 3D mode watching 3840x1080 format movie.
    - Glasses: There was some mention in Kickstarter comment about 3dof tracking sensor within the glasses, anyway to activate that?
    - Glasses: Does it work with GPD Win Max2? Win4? Even get it to work as VR glasses using some other software?

    • @Quasiguambo
      @Quasiguambo Před rokem

      Hmm.
      1. You can use the dock to charge at least 1 item, I am unsure to be honest, but I am fairly certain 1 chargable item is the limit.
      2. The dock weighs 230g and the neckband which is near essential weighs.. 170g.
      3. I don't think the dock works via HDMI out... So no. I am almost certain about that.
I'm not sure how that could possibly be of use? I have almost every device under the sun.. for me, this device fills a niche, one that would not be served is the niche of connecting to a different external screen, at least for me... but i'm watching this on a 55" OLED 4k TV so...
      4. My understanding and expectation is that the volume controls are still present but mine is still in the post so..
      5. Also my understanding is that the chromatic effect circumstance is good and fine. But.. it is still up in the air.
      6. My understanding is that 3D viewing is an option but not the primary function of the glasses, a side show at best, and so not something to buy the glasses for... but a function that is available.
      7. 3DOF? Depth of Field? Hmm.. Field of view? That is 43 degrees and fairly standard for this kind of device.
      8. The device will work with whatever has a video output achievable via HDMI or USB C... Of course the Winmax will work as well as the steam deck etc.
I myself intend to use it with a handheld 6800U PC, akin to the winmax. However I will note that AMD firmware supposedly has only recently begun to accept USB C video output connections and so the Winmax 2 will likely not support this circumstance unless it is possible to connect to an external monitor via HDMI?
But the chipset for the winmax 4, the same as what I am working with.. will work just fine. 6800U.
I hope this helps. But I am not an oracle of course. Just another customer.
To be honest, If I'd done my research properly, I would have bought the Winmax 4 to work with this, instead of the handheld PC option I did buy, purely due to the form factor... from an internals/ guts perspective, the devices are the same.
But I did back both on kickstarter, and received the handheld PC first (September I believe). The glasses are in the post.
      All the best.

Noted. I had a thought on this and the only sticking point for me is the difference between these and the Nreal Airs that I have reviewed are the inclusion of the diopter adjustments which can be make or break for some people. For those people, I think the Viture Ones are the only solution really, but I do prefer that the Nreal Airs don't need any adjustment whatsoever (for me).

I just got these. I wear bifocals and was extremely concerned that I'd have to donate these. I'm keeping them 😈. The adjustment knobs let me basically dial in my prescription. This was very very cool. Didn't receive my neckband yet so I can't rate that. I paid for the ultimate set on kickstarter and the steam/switch case and mobile dock with the prescription lens frame.
I can confirm, they work with the Nintendo switch. There is a 4 - 7 second lag from when you plug the switch into the dock from it plays on the glasses. 4 hours in to playing Metroid Dread, I am mildly pleased. The speakers in it are very clear. In version 2, I need these to be dial based. Pre set volume stages are Hella irritating but you can also adjust on the host device if on mobile and also on the ps5 so this is a small almost petty complaint. They get warm in the right mid temple area. Not sure how that's gonna affect me long term but we'll see. Don't have any vr games but gonna buy one just to try that mode.
My biggest issue is the gosh darn nose pad. How tf do you adjust it? The manual say squeeze and remove horizontally but they will not budge. I got a huge fat nose. This ain't gonna work well unless I can remove them. Likely user error but still just as frustrating as if it weren't.
Overall with 4 hours of use so far as of 04.09.2023?
    8/10
    Cost $628
Received 04.06.2023 (no notice, no tracking, guy in an unmarked white van dropped it off. For $500 plus I'd have been really f'ing pissed if it were misdelivered but thankfully that didn't happen. And I'm either missing or didn't get my neckband.

Can you elaborate on the quality when reading text?
Every pair of NReal Airs I have tried (I ordered 4 and returned 4 from Amazon) had some form of distortion at various locations (small zones/areas where the text was not as sharp, and somewhat blurry). Not so noticeable when watching video, but desktop text is not great.
Do you see any of that here? I suspect it has to do with the plastic material that reflects the OLEDs into the eyes. Are these glass material or perhaps higher quality plastics without these imperfections?

  • @anarfox
    @anarfox Před rokem +2

I have a pair of Rokid Air, and while I like the idea, they're very blurry in the edges. Like the optics are to small for the display they're paird with. Seeings as these seem to have the same issue, and that the dipoter dial looks very familiar, I wonder if they use the same display assembly.
Given how much they cost, I would not want to order a pair just to find out I would get the same experience with them as I get with the Rokid Air. The Rokid ones are not used at all because of the edge blurring.

How do they compare to the Nreal Air? Quality wise I mean. - edit

    • @ThePhawx
      @ThePhawx  Před rokem +19

Compared to the Nreal glasses, objectively, they are rather similar.
      - The diopter adjustments that the Viture Ones have are a double-edged sword. For my eyes and finding the right nose-guard, I still had a bit of the screen on the top right that was a bit out-of-focus. For people with Myopia, the Viture Ones would be a far better suggestion.
      - As a result, Nreal Airs are better for a turn-key solution. There is nothing to adjust on them, they will either be good for you or not.
      - Nreal Air app that can be installed for "AR/MR" can be neat but truth be told I never found much value in that. As in, I would just use the youtube app directly instead of loading the nreal app and then launching youtube from that.
      - Sound quality wise, they are both in the same realm, but the Viture Ones have a bit less sound pollution
Subjectively design wise I still prefer Nreal Airs for being a bit slimmer, but the Viture One Indido Matte is still very nice.

Great review. Good to see these Viture reviews finally coming out. I’m a fairly happy NReal Air owner, but I’m a Nintendo Switch guy and the Nreal doesn’t really have an answer for that in the mobile configuration. I also LOVE the idea of the Viture neckband. Some questions: is the magnetic female end on the frames a proprietary /bespoke tech? Can you attach a magnetic adapter and plug the Nreal Air cable from their glasses into the Viture neckband? Also, if you have a pair of the Nreal glasses, can you test to see if the Viture battery and bracket for the Nintendo Switch work for the Nreal Air glasses? I’d love to give Viture some money to make my Nreal experience better without having to buy a whole new pair of glasses!

+1 for the black... hehe. In all seriousness you almost had me sold on the indigo matte (you made a great sales pitch). However, then I remembered I preferred black wearables (did I mention your sales pitch was good) Although I would have preferred a matte black on the exterior of the glasses, I think the black will be less noticeable in general (might seem odd, but I would rather have the glasses go unnoticed if possible). Also, I prefer the lens rims to be black as they are less distracting for me than colored. Note: the neck band will be flat black if getting the jet black option.
The one item that I really wished you showed was the "ELECTROCHROMIC FILM" they were showing off. It seems like this would be a great alternative to putting on a shade. However, I'm worried it will fall flat of expectations. Perhaps you can more in depth with that feature alone as a review add-on.

the main thing id like to kow how the screens compare because the only thing that bothers me is how you can see a halo effect when looking at text. as i understood its because of the way the lenses are made and its something i learned to deal with but if these offer a better watching experience id certainly consider buying them.

Hey Kris, we launched our Kickstarter campaign in April 2022, but it did take us some time to improve everything and deliver the best possible products! We also mentioned the great support on Steam Deck and Switch back then, but didn't want to promote a lot during that time when we are still improving the product~~ Sorry we have been pretty low-key since we are busy fulfilling all the pre-orders:)
But here we are! We are so glad almost all the people who have received the glasses now are loving them. Since day 1, we strive to offer the best XR gaming experience and our glasses have many unique features that are not found in other glasses, including speakers partnered with HARMAN (with reverse sound field), myopia adjustments, native 3D video support, an overall lighter weight than all the other glasses, dimmable electrochromic film that allows for swapping between Immersive and Ambient modes (with the neckband), etc...We also put a lot of efforts on the ergo design and offering the best display it can be, including accurate color calibration, brightness, etc...
And you are right, we believe the glasses themselves still have some limitations and that is why we created the neckband and mobile dock, both of which help us land on the TIME's 2022 Best Inventions list and make everything so easy to access~~ For example, we made the mobile dock with the switch in mind, so you will have the best switch gaming experience with it. Just plug and play😎 Hope you will have a chance to enjoy in the future~~Thank you so much!

Would love to see a more in-depth review especially as it's been a month, I have pre ordered these and also pre ordered the Rokid Max because I don't know which one I would prefer I'm hoping they will roughly come at the same time so ill have a chance to return the one I don't like.
I tried the Nreal ones but not overly impressed but I'm hoping the above two may be better especially as I'm able to make fine adjustment.
I feel like the Rokid Max will be the better one out of the two, mainly as it's there second gen device, and they seem to have more detail and spec on their unit.

Got my glasses a few days ago and I'm really disappointed. The image quality is horrible. Center of the screen is good after adjusting myopia dials and finding the best nose guard, but the outer 25% of the screen is a blurry mess in all directions. I have to physically adjust the glasses on my head to read text on the edges. Opened a support ticket and they suggested spending more money on prescription lenses to fix the problem. My vision is well within the documented supported range without the need of prescription lenses. I bought this instead of Nreal because of the myopia dials.
