It’s just a minor improvement with newer Sony mini OLEDs and slightly better frame. Xreal has to do way more to support the original Air and their half baked Beam that’s incapable of handling its actual use case to be taken seriously. If you own Xreal Air, just skip 2 unless you can sell the old one for near retail price.

Well tvs back then did use actual electron guns to fire electrons at a phosphor screen (and your face). That said, it wasn't really dangerous then because of the electron gun either. It's just not great for your eyes long term, I think mostly due to the even brightness.
Let's be honest though, we are all going to need glasses/contacts/laser correction at some point. The world is far to reliant on screens now. Hopefully someone comes up with a solid bionic eye replacement. I want night vision, thermal vision, and video display all built into my eyeballs. 😂

The XReal designs the lens in a way that makes it appear as if it were a few meters away. That's why people with near sighted vision have to use their contacts or prescription attachment to use them. They're great if you want to avoid myopia.

I’m happy I already invested hours into watching other reviews. It’s not okay to compare the older generation of a company’s products and not mention that everything you mentioned was addressed and fixed in the new/current model the company sells. This seems like you were paid to promote one product over the other, and I don’t say that lightly because doing that without informing your audience would destroy your credibility. You didn’t share the other company’s adapter that’s similar either though, so this is just very misleading and alarming. Why would you compare a current generation product to a last generation product? Why would you only share one company’s accessories in the same category? Why would you not mention there is a new updated product that addresses your concerns?

I was able to get prescription lenses from HOSVR, still labelled as Nreal last time I checked. I think it was a sale but they are still pretty fairly priced. The only thing was I had to put the lenses into the frame provided by Xreal, which can be a bit fiddly. I'm both short sighted and have astigmatism so having the inserts was a must for me. I've worn contacts in the past but for some reason I've always had trouble looking at screens with them - though these contacts are daily disposables so I don't know if people with longer-lasting contacts have the same issue.

The air 2 pro are incredible compared to the air 1. Air 2's image is more sharp and bright yet somehow the optics being smaller made the image noticibly larger for me on the air 2 pro. Electrochromic is a must after using it. Somehow the 100 percent blocks out all diffused light yet allows light about 2.5 ft away to still come through very dimly but somehow clear. Its completely black yet phone is visible along with peoples movements around me. The convenience of the dimming is emense on planes and i use this every time i fly to either do work or watch a movie which looks damn near 4k with the combined resolution of each eye. Viture is over rated considering its greater brightness is due to the image being much smaller in addition to terrible contrast. Lastly viture is only 60hz refresh rate which is not ideal for competative games like call of duty.

I wonder if any of the smart glasses like the smart glasses in this video will connect to the backbone controller to my phone while I have my wired headphones connected to the backbone controller for playing games. I also wonder about the same thing about connecting my wired headphones to the headphone jack from my sony xperia 1 iv android phone to get 0 latency audio and plugging in any of the smart glasses to the usb c port from my phone. My sony phone supports video out from the usb c port. On my phone I use a 3.5mm auxiliary splitter for connecting my sennheiser hd 600 open back headphones to the 3.5mm aux splitter and my rode lavalier go mic from it's 3.5mm port to the same aux splitter for 0 latency audio for gaming. I set it up this way so I can use my wired headphones from it's 3.5mm port and my wired mic from it's 3.5mm port both at the same time. When I use the backbone controller I do the same thing except I plug the auxiliary splitter to the headphone jack on the backbone controller so I can use my wired headphones and my wired mic both at the same time. I bought the backbone controller specifically because it has a headphone jack. I have 4k movies stored locally on my micro sd card from my phone and I do the same thing that I have already described when watching 4k youtube videos and my 4k movies with the exception of not using the mic and the backbone controller. For example, will any of the smart glasses route the audio from the headphone jack from my phone when I plug in my wired headphones and route the video from my phone when using the usb c port as video out. I wanna be able to use my wired headphones for audio from my phones headphone jack and the smart glasses as an extension for video output from the usb c port from my phone. Unfortunately, none of the smart glasses don't have a resolution of 3840 x 2160p for each eye with a mini led display not oled at 1,000 nits that I'm looking for. The tcl ray neo x2 smart glasses have 1,000 nits and uses a micro led display and uses ar that I'm looking for instead of vr and mr but the tcl smart glasses does not have 3840 x 2160p resolution for each but have 1920x 1080p for each eye. 1080p resolution is too pixelated and not that sharp looking. I been used to using 4k since 2014. My sony xperia 1 iv android phone has a 4k oled 120 hz display, my 2022 razer blade 15 has a 4k 144 hz ips display and my samsung chromebook has a 4k 60 hz super amoled display. Using less than a 4k display is like the equivalent of having a 1080p tv instead of a 4k and have a library of 4k physical discs. I even watch 4k youtube videos even on 1080p displays on any device like a phone, laptop and tablet that has a 1080p display.

You will likely see more applications work for the Viture glasses. Xreal prohibits the developer community from being able to develop software to compliment there platform. Custom software/applications for Xreal require there Nebula software to be installed on your device. And the list of devices that support Nebula is very limited. for PC users if you check there website not even windows is supported for nebula and has been like this before I can remember. If you choose to use these with your phone Nebula mixed with the glasses will drain your battery faster than your wallet at Disney land.

@, agreed. Even just something with the resolution of the GOOVIS G3 MAX (2560x1440, 46 PPD), but with the "glasses" form factor (ability to see desk, comfort) would be great. @@fgerv awesome! I’d love to hear more about what that’s like for you.
I’m a software engineer. I’ve been considering these different kinds of virtual monitor devices and so far they all seem bad.
I have a friend who has been doing VR and AR work for over 2 decades. I have another friend who is the head of VR (also working with AR tech and devices) for Lucasfilm. Both of them have ALL of the hardware available (sitting in boxes in their offices). And after talking to them, both individuals and their coworkers do all their work on real monitors and only put on AR/VR hardware to test specific things. I find this extremely telling.
      * What kind of work do you do?
      * Do you work with your glasses?
      * For how many hours a day do you work with your glasses?
      * Do you use this as your primary display device for your work?
      * What issues do you run into?
      * What would you need for this (or something like it) to be your primary display system to do your work?
If something like this or the Meta pro visor or the Apple VR thing is going to be feasible for productivity instead of just being a toy … I feel like it needs to be a preferred way to work.

Instead of commenting like a negative, applaud xreal for adopting it. And I don’t understand why everyone is even using audio quality as a comparison point. You are so limited by the nature of how the sound is being delivered to begin with… if you want good audio quality that will match the visual experience you’re gonna need nice earbuds or over ears. @@sergekonevskyFunny how iPhone users are fine with such practices, when Apple announces "groundbreaking functionality" that has existed in other platforms for years.
All works of art and culture (including technology) are derivative in nature, so "copying features" is a moot argument. I worked at an R&D facility for a major car manufacturer, and we had vendors regularly come and display tech that wasn't seen by consumers for > 5-10y minimum.
My point is that unless a tech is proprietary and built in house (rare), all of these manufacturers have access to the same OEMs, making it a question of cost/profit/integration.
Another example is Monitors/TVs and Memory (RAM). While there are a vast amount of brands designing/selling these products, there are less than 5 major manufacturers of LCD panels and flash memory that all those companies buy from...meaning a $2k TV could be using the same LCD panel as a $200 one.

Don't buy any AR/Display glasses. Unless you have a small head or you are a child(not an adult child). You need to know the IPD of your eyes and the distance between the screens of the AR/Display glasses before you buy a set. It's funny you watch reviews of AR/display glasses, the reviewers look like they are cross-eyed because the screens are set so close together. These reviewers are clueless to why the screen looks blurry on the outer right and left sides. The outer sides look blurry because there is no IPD/PD setting and the screens are set too close together. All the glasses look like they are made for a kid or an adult with a small head. The quest 2 has three settings IPD 58mm, 63mm, and 68mm. The quest 3 has a IPD setting with a range of 58mm - 71mm. I hope all the AR/Display glasses brands read this!
