IS THIS THE FUTURE OF AGGRESSIVE HARDTAIL MTB'S??

- I decided to modify my hardtail dirt jump bike in the search for the ultimate aggressive hardtail. After installing a FOX 40 triple clamp fork, a front brake and basically a tractor front tyre it was time to head out and see what this bike felt like! My plan was to test it out on all disciplines of MTB ranging from pump track, urban stair sets, MTB trails lines, downhill trails and see what tricks are possible. All that was left was to try it out...
Welcome to my CZcams channel giving you an insight into my life as a Professional mountain bike rider. I upload videos 3 times per week covering all disciplines of riding and topics including Full speed downhill, Huge free ride and dirt jump tricks, XC rides, EMTB adventure riding, trail build series and general bike vlog's, challenges How to video's and MTB games.
Weather you are a beginner MTB rider or Advanced there is something for everyone on my channel so sit back and enjoy!

looks like an early 2000s hard tail. seemed like everyone back then had a hard tail with triple camp forks
The hucker days
Be a hero and drop me a sub 🤙
Yup. Me too.
Same. I had one as well. Haha.
Right! I'm currently running a 05 giant stp2 with vintage boxxer rc and loving every minute!
As full suspension frames are very expensive in Brazil, it is very common around here to use dual crown forks in dirt jump frames and this has been done for a long time
Freerides frames*
@@xerecahead7810 actually, dirt jumpers.
Our actual dirtjumpers are outdated, and just now starting to catch up with american and european dirtjumpers and nowadays we do have dedicated hardtail 29in freeriders. But for the longest time I had a dirt jumper with an inverted marzocchi fork.
Aggressive FR hardtails are already a thing. It looks outrageous but that makes it a fun and you can do basically anything on it I definitely want to see more of this bike
This guy is about 25 years too late.
Knowing how you like barspins... is there an out-take where you forgot the triple crown and went for it?
It's so awesome to see you having fun exploring different things and getting your skills exercises in. I hope you have a lot of happiness in your future.
I think this bike looks great.
And it could be a great option for those who just want one bike...
Use a Hardtail with 1:12 and you have a real beast for everything. And that at low cost 😁
What a banger video, great work dude. The filming has been great & including enough attempts at the big daddy stump for us to see your process was awesome
Epic video as usual thank for the great content to watch tom!
Wow!!!! The most INSANE Jump Bike / Hard Tail I've ever seen....... Good thinking Tom!!!!!! Really impressed with the creativity.......It's amazing to see the way the bike behaves........ Sweeeeettt...... Ride Safe !!!!!!!
Absolutely mental! Love it 😆 Quality vid as always, nice work mate.
Man, actually here in Brazil, this bike setup is ver used, mainly by People Who are starting on downhill. Here we have a hardtail that is realy made for downhill, Its called gios 4freaks, i have one and can say, its fucking indestructible.
aaron nailed it...all you did was build an old school dirt jumper...my norco had chromo frame disc brakes and the big general sherman forks...from new.20 years ago...its back to the future.cheers!
The build montage was almost as professional as Pilgrim's 😂
Sam does it way more stylish, neanderthalic style. 😃
Great riding Tom building a creation and doing what you do on it amazing mate well done 👍👍👍
Love the random idea. Keep on shredding tom 🤟🤟
I want that bike. But I'll never be able to afford one that cost too much but I'm glad to see people having fun on them
18 years ago i had a hardtial with monster t which i switched to shiver dc and ended up with 66 rc2x on 180mm. Riding with 66 till now.
Great vid, man! Look forward to the next ride on this thing!
Always a good day when Tom uploads!
Had a Shiver on my Evil Imperial running 24"/26" mullit in the early 2000's. It was ridiculous and fun as hell.
First sick vid Tom your such an inspiration to me.
Awesome vid mate. Keep it up. 👌
i did that 16 years ago! It's fun and i still have My Kona stuff with JR T 170 mm of travel
used to ride an azonic ds1 with triple clamps in the 90s, it made me feel invincible. theres something to be said for that head angle and stability. and yeah manuals were proper nice
I have a dirt yz 3 With boxxer wc team coil 26 2 years and it's really great since the race is big, I wanted 26 inches front/rear and the headtube has no problem, all that matters is that you get used to it on aggressive turns.😎👍
I did this on my hardtail and it worked very well.
I used to have a hardtail with a marzocchi shiver. It looked and rode great :D
Loving that build
Looks pretty old school to me . I had a Specialized p3 in silver with a set of Marzocchi shiver sc on the front and a full hope set up 20 years ago . The problem with it was you had to be stood up on the bike to pedal . The future and present of aggressive hardtails to me are bikes like the Specialized Fuse and alternatives from other companies . The dropper post is an essential part of it and a super wide gear ratio . Able to do XC , Trail and Jumping .
I bought a specialized MTB from a friend early 2000s. It had an unpainted frame and some long travel bombers on it.
I wish i could remember the model
I have an idea for the seat Tom, get a pivotal seat and post if you haven't already got a pivotal seat, then you can set the seat angle a bit more forward for cruising along, also could you put a 26 inch trail tyre on the back for more grip in the dirt? It doesn't look like there's much space for taller tread on the back of your bike.
Always fun to put a big forks on HT's years ago had a Norco Sasquatch that I put Junior T's on
Tom that looks well sick, my gt chucker xs1 might get some of that treatment. It dose look real 👌 👍Ross
Dear Tom, it was awesome! Thanks a lot for this and all other videos you make! Inspiring as always wanna ride my bike even at night after watching you!
BTW, would you mind to share the location of the pump tack and local woods you were shredding?
Many thanks in advance.
Not sure if he has been mentioned yet, but Rob (Rob dis Willis on youtube) does some awesome stuff on a dual crown hardtail. Madman!
Sick filming 🎥
Love your videos so much
Azonic steelhead frame with old Junior t's. 6in That was my ride for a while you have fun with the 26 big ass tire in The landings were fun
Reminds me of the old school hardtails designed to take dual crowns
I have recently bought a 2005 Kona shred that has marzoochi junior t double crown forks it works better than I thought it would
Wasn’t the early 2000 bike like this a Saracen XCILE OR A BARACUDA something or other. This is a best of a video thanks for your content it’s awesome. 👍🏻👊🏻💥#epicmtb
Lol yes I remember them do you remember the Barracuda's with the y frame and single swing arms lol
In Brazil it's very common to use a double crown in a hardtail. Me for example,i use a boxxer on my hardtail
Looks brutal❤❤❤
That looks awesome! :3
Looks cool
Bro in bulgaria we love to mount dual crown fork on cromo dirtjump frame since 2007-2008.
I'm still rocking my full suspension 2000 Specialized RockHopper FSR. It's bulletproof. Obviously put a bunch of upgrades on it but unless the frame snaps I'm good 👍
In argentina is very common to see this kind of bikes because the bikes with double suspension are very expensive, I have a zenith atc a dirt jump frame with a marzocchi 380 r2c2 fork.
Yes, take it to the skatepark on a dry day.
How far and slowly can you stoppy? A slow (not slo-mo) stoppy would look cool and you’d be the one to do it.
Side note: watched crankworx slopestyle and kept wishing you were there to manual the entire course.
my buddy threw a pair of super monsters onto a pearl white Brodie Holeshot bitd. the frame lasted one day on Mt Washington lol but he had a blast that day
That's the way inused to run my trails bike back in the day 04/05 XLC Tripple clamp Judy's on the Xile 14in frame mavic wheel set the frames were solid from Saracen I remember my first bus stop drop off needed new breeks after that lol 😂
Don't think it looks ridiculous still looks cool as heck today!
DJ/HT with dual crown forks is a pretty common practice in all of SA.
Edit: Also, you won't see them in pump tracks, but in actual DH/Enduro trails.
Watch a video called Jib by Thor Wixom, 2000s street MTB before there were even DJ parts available, I used to run a azonic DS1 with junior ts and modified BMX hubs on d521 ceramic rims, only things that would hold up to street, then the DJ range of forks came out and everything changed.
En Bolivia usamos esas bicicletas hard tail desde hace años para hacer downhill, como una opción mucho más barata a las bicicletas de doble suspensión.
29/26 mullet. Lol. I have a triple 160mm fork on my 2008 Spec Enduro. With a high BB and 26" wheels, I do exactly what he does here. I do street stuff. I ride a 29er stumpy on trail.
its amaziiiiiinng
Nice bike sir. Wish to have that kind of bike 🙏 Watching from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Maybe on a Kona honzo ESD this would work great. The difference in length with stock vs dh fork isn't as big. The geo would probably be better.
I had this idea myself 15 years ago! And I wanted to do it. But I never did because I was just a kid with no money. 😂
Legal, muito bom. Like
Love your videos especially the color edit. Do you sell your luts or can you say where you got them from? Appreciate it
That level of skills is insane...
that looks so damn cool
early 2000s i put a boxxer on a norco 125 to get me by while i waited for a shock for my bullit, it wasnt as terrible as it sounds
This bike stayed so craziest!
Looks like something BTR Fabrications would do. Burf is the king of DH hardtails 🔥🙌🏼
Your fly is open ☝
oh my bike
at 8:58 you can see that his fly is undone 😂😂😂😂
I want to try like this!
👍
DREAMS
Try putting a 26 or a 24 inch wheel on the front to make 360s better and bring the front end down a bit.
tom, so I have also modified my alubike with a rockshox fork for down, since mine is also a rigid frame
I've had triple crown forks on my hardtail for 20 years.
My 06 STP still has 03 Marzocchi junior T's on it.
I have something like this in my cellar, a Banshee Morphine frame with a 170mm Marzocchi Junior T 😅
Take it out for a ride
Haha Innerleithen winter series circa 2000. Long live junior T's ✌️
Maybe add a dropper post? What a beauty
Sam pilgrim viewers also watch this channel it just makes so much sense
What
I thought it was a great idea it make the jumps look easy
💯💯💯💯💯🔥
Reminds me of my old Saracen from
Back on the day 😂
Haha aqui no Brasil kkkkk, BR ja faz isso a muito tempo kkkk
you should put gears on it, it would make the bike more capable and also help balance the weight out.
Congratulations, you have just invented стритец bike !
@Tom Cardy WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER 🏅 🥇 🏆
Nice one…. It fits you and works.
dayum fox 40 :O Worth like 4times more than my whole bike hahaha
"Is the Future of HT Mtb's?
Hahahahah
Se ele soubesse que nos países sul-americanos (ou outros em que o MTB sempre foi caro) principalmente no BR é assim há anos, ficaria impressionado. 🤣
In Chile, kids and not so kids ride with that set up since ages hahahaha the lack of money and precarious situation make you improvise with what you got hahaha
This is like the most common thing that kids in Bulgaria do. They take a Drag C1 and the just put a rockshox boxxer in. 😭😭😭
Would be interesting to see the angles at full compression
The angles would be pretty much the same at full compression...it's at full extension that the difference will be the biggest.
just goes to show anything is fun if you want it to be, and bike manufacturers are just pushing change to make money. These hardtails with dh forks were a thing 20 years ago and rode very well then. It's just like fashion it comes back around. Unless you are a pro or racing for podiums it really doesn't matter.
3:46 Longer forks are going to make the balance point wider and less dramatic.
Lolol the girl in the tie dye is killin it
we did this in Romania 22 years ago
Nothing irons out the stairs like airs. 😆
This isn't just the future, but also the past and present of freeride where i live. You see many many small very sturdy hardtail frames with huge forks being sent on crazy features deep in the woods
Not everyone can afford 3000 euro bikes when they only have a shitty student job and the highest import tax in europe
#stayawesome
In Russia it's calling Streetetzz.
It is famous culture. And the classic of streetetzz is evil inperial frame with marzocchi super monster.
Idealogy of streetetzz is the hyperbolization of details. Classical streetetzz bike must have dual crown fork, rims double track or double wide or mtx 39, old, heavy, strong frame, code or hope powerfull brakes, old dual crown marzocchi or fox fork and massive metal pedals.
The god bike of streetetzz is Josh Benders Carpiel apocalypsis bike or Brooklyn machine
that tree stump trials was fkin nuts
