- MTB downhill forks on a road bike - Does it shred? I customise this bike in to a crazy DH Road bike and hit some local MTB trails and jumps, but how good is it for riding?
I woke up today and thought that this would be a good idea so I got to work on modifying my road bike into a half downhill bike perfect for mountain bike trails. I also thought i'd leave the original drop bars on to make it a little more exciting and it certainly was!! This ridley road bike was given to me when filming one of the episodes of the Road Bike party video that was made famous by Martyn Ashton and I never thought I'd see the bike like this. The forks I decided to fit were the FOX 40 DH forks and of course they shouldn't work on a road bike but with a few mods it was possible to make it happen!! Maybe I have just created a new sport, who knows? Do you want to see more with this ridiculous set-up?

I built my own version of this bike years ago, right at the begining of the Cyclocross bike craze. I used a free aluminum Vilano road frame and a Suntour 30 fork. It was a 1x7 drive train. I loved that bike. Someone actually bought it off me while I was out riding some local trails. I ended up taking an uber back home. Great video and thanks for the constant awesome content.

Having a spare Fox 40 lying around in the garage is VERY relatable to most people...
One of my first crazy builds was a specialized hard rock that I outfitted with hoonigan downhill forks, and oversized 26" rims with 2.1 width tread for mudd and snow as I live in Canada lol so I need something robust... Very heavy but was a great build and very solid

I love this guy, he's enjoying his life. I wish, I have a bike like he does.
I did the opposite once. I fitted a triple clamp(Jr T) fork onto a BMX frame, the front wheel was 26" & the rear was a 16" one from a barbie bike.
It was scary too ride off road, kinda felt like it like you were always doing a manual, scary but so much fun. The steerer tube eventually snapped off, probably due to the extreme angle the wheels & forks caused. R.I.P.

@@efdbjon2114 it's usual to hold a carbon bike from the seat post but this looks like an aero post so perhaps not possible. Clamping a carbon frame is not a good idea
