THE BIGGEST WHEEL HARDTAIL I'VE OWNED!! HOW DOES IT RIDE?

- This is the biggest wheel hardtail MTB I've ever ridden. How does it perform and how does it ride on technical sections, downhill, freeride jumps, pump track and dirt jumps? We developed and designed the Marin San Quentin to cover all these bases and mountain bike disciplines, to truly create a bike that does it all. And I've always been a massive fan of MTB hardtails. This is the first time Marin have specced the bike with 29 inch wheels and I took it for a ride to give my thoughts and review on this bike. Enjoy the riding and thoughts. This bike launches today! Anyone else fully flinch / jumped when he "bashed Cove" out the way!!?! 😱😂
my heart dropped 😂
I actually jumped in my chair
Hahahaha yesssss 😂 I jumped 😂
OMG wasnt ready for that 😂
I fucking screamed lmao
I see cove has had more tools in his hand this year than matt😂
😂
Dork disc and reflectors had me creasing😂😂😂
Me to🤮💀🗑️
Never jumped so much when you "hit cove" with the bike box, 😂😂 fair play Ben 😅😂
Sooooo, when do we get to see Mat hit the airbag on Coves bike?
The main attribute is the dork disc... everyone needs a bit of dork in their lives.🤣 I ride my 29er hardtail every week and love every minute of it.
So stoked too see Matt back to weekly uploading.
yeh i was so upset when he hadn't posted in over a month
Too bad he didn't clean the mycological growth off his airbag during that period.
I'm starting to think this was an ad for the all new marin San quentin 29ner
Imagine the clips of Matt riding and saying random words about the bike being the official promo video for Marin
it brings me so much joy to listen to the intro
Stoked to finally see my artwork in the workshop! Glad you like it! 🤙🏻
matt watching you guys all the time really motivates me to one day own a marin bike keep it going
The quality of these vids just get better and better! Cheers for the multitude of uploads recently boys ❤️
Welcome back u legend u have been missed ❤❤❤❤❤😊🎉
I'm glad to see you using the workshop! I'd almost forgotten about it after you'd built it.
Love Cove's exit😂. And watching you ride a hardtail Matt. With no music. 😍
yea matt love it. the cove intoro was awsom saw that photo on your instagram looked sick id love to ride wouburn or even your compoud as ive started to realy love that big jump feeling. love the vids legend!!!!
Your kid is sick! Lovin' dem tools
Holyy talk about jump scare, thanks for that 🤣
The raw clips at woben was just 😍
Thanks to your strong recommendations, Matt. I bought a marin bike. I did buy a cross bike because I mostly ride it to the pub 😂 but honestly, I'm stoked with how nice it is. I got the Muirwoods 29er
Love the way how matt is so humble, "I won by 6 or 7 seconds, this bike is incredible" never mentioned he won because he is a bad ass rider, put all the glory on the bike not himself
after a couple of weeks I loved my 29er hardtail its just getting used to the feel and what it does good/bad when going up from 27.5s
Matt's lil man is really early out preparing himself for hard pedal impacts on his legs with the tools 😂
We need to see a dream build with this frame!
that right, you did race that bike at Seaotter. I was one of the guys who met both you and ben by the Marin tent. I was wearing, as you put it Matt, an OG Helfare shirt. Wondering if we will possibly see a Helfare booth at next years Sea Otter???
Sick video and bike! When are you riding mini bikes again?
I rode BMX for a decade. Decided to jump into MTB and wanted to keep it under $1000 to make sure I loved it before splurging on something I'd regret. Ended up with a 2021 Marin San Quentin (guy bought a size too small and only had like 30 miles on it.) It's an excellent bike. I say that both as a beginner mountain biker, but also as someone who was hitting doubles and diamond trails since basically the first few hours. So I kind of am both a beginner and experienced rider at once in different aspects lol.
But seriously the San Quentin rips. I've had mine for a year now and I still don't really feel pressured into getting a full suspension. I put on some quality pedals, grips, added a dropper post and converted to tubeless. It's an excellent bike that punches well above it's price tag.
FYI, I also live in the PNW so these aren't small, tame trails. This thing can handle nearly anything you throw at it. Though your body will feel it on the rough stuff a lot more than a full suspension. But that's the same for any hardtail. You will absolutely learn a ton pushing a bike like this to it's limits though 🤘
That cove bop was hilarious
I actually flinched so much when he spun the box around and cove flew😂😂😂
The one thing keeping me from a Quentin was the lack of 29s but now it looks like I know what my next bike will be!
Wasn't expecting that, thought it was going to be the El Roy, but this looks rad!
I built a pumptrack for my son in my garden. It is like your Hellfarm just a tiny version of it.
You gonna love riding with the little pooper.
Hi Matt
can you please make a compound clean up series? Like clearing all the grass away rebuilding the smaller dirt jumps you also have at you compound.
the dork disk also definitely makes you faster as well
My favourite bike was a GT Peace 9'r single speed. I am of the opinion it forced me to ride better than on any other bike I've had since. The big wheels. Not worrying about gears. No suspension at all or a dropper post just meant you only ever worried about what was in front of you on the trail. And even as a "geezer" now, I kind of still hark back to that bike.
So goooood!
I jumped up to 29 on my HT a year ago. Being a 6'4" giant, I instantly felt proper. Dont think I'd ever go back.
I second this comment also as a 6'4" giant. Our bikes are finally to proper scale, doesn't look like we stole a 10yr olds bike.
I’m 5’10” had a 29er hard tail and it felt way too big for me. So I got a SQ3 27.5 and loving the smaller wheel size (and the bike). Kinda cool you can get a SQ in both sizes now 🤙
I need one of those in my life!
Baby is looking so much like Matt already. That outro smile is 100% a Jones!
I literally gasped when that box nearly bashed lil man
Matt, how well does the 29 hard tail fakie ?
That's what we all really want to know
It would be interesting trying out a san Quentin 29er mullet on jumps and downhill
Handsome looking kiddo you got there. Thank god he looks like his mama =) keep up the fun boys!!!
Aww never knew that Matt is a father, it's sweet of Marin to send him a new bike, time to watch Matt goes Halo, & Ohlins in matter of minutes. Never ridden a 29 inch bike
Only spent a couple minutes on a proper hardtail as an adult (had one as a kid) and i was only nosediving on bunnyhops, so bad that i was kinda glad i went straight to a 180mm fully, coming from a bmx bike. Felt right at home pretty quick!
I'm always more prone to nosediving jumps as opposed to looping out, even on my fully.. could that be related? 🤔
Omg i thought for a second you actually yeeted Cove😂.
Don’t let die the 27,5!!!
Will there be a frame only option?
I'm your biggest fan matt
Dork disc for the win!
Those are some wide handlebars for a baby😂
That was a brutal edit lol
Serious question: when can i buy that helfare camo hoody????
Did you get a smaller frame to work with 29er
Omg scared the shit out of me when you moved the box and knocked your kid away 😅😅
Waited until the bonus clip to see if anyone was going to address little Cove homie almost knocking himself out with that ratchet wrench 😂❤ Can’t wait to see him shred!
Never thought I’d see Matt Jones riding with a Dork Disk 💯💯💯
If I rode faster trails I'd reconsider but I love the quick precise steering of 27.5.
What size did you cut the handlebars down to? Just recently purchased a ht 29er and the bars are massive.
I’m curious as well
Now let's see some bmxs on the dirt jumps 😁
Incredible first run there 😂😂 just to clarify it’s a san Quentin hard tail 29er
Please give the links to all the videos in the intro
That edit got me 😂😂😂
U wer right. We wer all questioning the reflectors
Can’t find that camo jacket on your website? 😢
Why do hardtails nowadays have really thin bars on the rear triangle? They don't look strong enough
I love my hardtail, I race against the full suspension guys on my hardtail 29” Nukeproof Scout.
Have you ever demoed an el Roy
I was literally typing, "He cut the bars but left the dork disc and reflectors?" as Matt ripped them off.
Is there a Matt channel I’m not aware of? How come we are not getting any of these down hill races or events?
I grew up riding...hard (giggerty).
Hard in hard F&R.
Also with 18 gears, and cable pull caliper rim brakes
Yous lot dont know you're born!
The Marin bikes back then though were orgasmic to look at in comparison to anything else
😊
Awesome handsome baby matt I'm proud of you and thanks for new video 😊
I have a 29 inch hardtail as my first proper mountain bike. Haven’t used it on anything besides jumps 😅 and I’m not great at those 😅
1st :D another great vid :D peace !
Oh my god, that "kick the baby" animation gave me a freaking heart attack!
Will your sponsor parts come on the bike?
Will you ever open a Helfare shop in America?
do u use deathgrips
That dork disc🤣
How do ik what size wheel to get
Yeahh mattt.lmuch love from Africa
THE EDITTING AT 1:27 OMFGG
maybe next you should try clipless pedals 😁
Nice reflectors
Safety first!
I was more concerned about the kickstand that I was the reflectors
Never heard Marin pronounced like that before!
Take the noddy disc off the back wheel 😂😂
shutup about the hardtail that balance bike was the sickest thing i have ever seen, marin release it i will buy one
Ditches the reflectors but rocks the dork disc STEEZE
What is that bar end cutter?
It doesn't cut, it just grinds the cut end to a smooth surface so no burs remain.
@@franklee6301 Cool. Thanks
I think you just sold me the hardtail
You just sent some Helfare Rival "Trousers" to Sweden for my wife. She loves them!
And yes @liamginty I did flinch. More than a little as well.
Matt Jones, you sound even smoother on the hard-tail than on a full-sus
Coming soon, upgrade video!
when the kid got punted by the box
Not gonna lie Matt has got steezer by the day
Will it do fakies?
You should have done a little ASMR skit like that viral Bentley one and whispered "Hardtail..."
Where's the Dunlops? 🤣⛳
