- Massive shout out to Brink Bike Shop for the use of their sick workshop. I finally get to upgrade my hardtail with new MTB forks from ohlins, along with some other new bike parts. This bike is super custom and agressive now, ready for some riding at Woburn to test the new build and hit some big jumps. Enjoy. Legends.

Matt ride the hardtail on the dirt jumps in your yard! Like so he can see.
As someone who has a San Quentin and an Alcatraz, the San Quentin does not do well on real dirt jumps like the backyard ones
You should go to windhill
Yes that would be so sick if he could hit his backyard jumps on his hardtail!
Ride your full sus over the spine!!! RESPECT!
You should go to Friston forest
Yes when is the van coming
his ‘local’ is better then any bike park in my country
same
Same
It's my local too
What country
Same
scribbly gums bike trails. In Australia so bit of a drive.
that is a good bike trails
Where in aus
@@coopsbmx in Redlands near Brissy
@@lochlanblades6008 its a nice place been there
You should come up to the coast and hit the sugar bag road trails. My favourite trails are beez kneez and syrup but all the trails are pretty nice
Day 1 of asking Matt to challenge Fabio Wimber to a game of bike!
Matt you seein this👀
That would be sick!
Ye would be awesome or maybe Danny MacAskill
Yes
Yesssssss
Or Sam pilgrim
Hi Matt I am a young boy who recently started trying to do some bunny hops and things and my confidence on biking has shot up since I started watching you so I just wanna thank you for being such a role model
Keep going!
I am 37 years old and still learning to bunny hop
@Rosley Outdoors I'm 47, and just scraping the surface... You're never too old, enjoy, and @Slaave I hope we'll see you progress and even turn pro one day - there is no reason you can't, you just have to want it enough and practice enough, good luck to you!
Is everyone going to ignore Matt perfectly whistling Indiana Jones theme song whilst onehander wheelying?
that's ride of the valkyries
When is it
@@jakubbizon3018 11:29
@@josefwakeling7103 definitely Indiana Jones
"perfectly"
Hey Matt. I'm watching your videos for such a long time. U r just motivating me everytime to push my cheap Hardtail to the limit everytime. (can't afford a real good mtb). I would love to have the seatpost, so I don't need to stop everytime and put the sattle up by using an 5mm key. Sick build btw.
I mean, Ik box doesn’t make the best drivetrains but doesn’t the box 1 have bright orange logo? That could be cool!
Thats what I said
Axel with the top comment
box drivetrains are sick. the orange is a good idea too
Correct me if I’m wrong but box makes a drivetrain with a yellow logo too, which would match the forks!
@@jackmassam3293 I think so, but I'm pretty sure the yellow is on their lower-end stuff. Idk tho
SRAM make like kind of a bronze ish cassette that could go with a nice sram derailleur idk up to you but it would be cool
If you go to Leeds Urban, they have a big Marin poster of you in the cafe, you should go and sign it or something
The butter analogy for the suspension is the best
I would put on:
-KMC black/orange chain
-E thirteen helix r cassette in blue to match the blue details from the Öhlins fork or in orange to match the frame
-Sram AXS Derailleur
I think you’d be good at Leeds urban bike park because there’s massive jumps in the woods and a huge bridge jump, tones of fun and about 10 tabletops about 15ft big, so fun, never gets old
Bin there it's amazing 🤙🤙
Good to see another Leeds urban local
Been wanting to go there’s it’s like a 2 hour drive but looks worth it
Please don’t it’s so bad. You overshoot all the tables and the bridge line needs loads of maintenance to the lip because everyone just rolls it so there’s no kick to it at all meaning it’s all just a big pull up
@@jmfc5800
I agree the trails are in DIRE need of a service but some trails are in good condition like the pump track and bmx track and some of the blue trails and main jump line
Leeds Urban Bike Park has everything. Pump track, huge jump lines, trails. Also free! Definitely worth checking out
The butter analogy is by far the highlight of my week
Cheers from BC, Canada. Steve Smith was a legend and you're a legend. Decal and fork look sick. Next time you're out in Whistler make the trip over to Nanaimo on the island and have a go at Steve Smith's memorial bike park. Nice flowy trick line and 2 Velo pump tracks. Some good mtb riding near by aswell.
Legends!
Imagine pilgrim here he would be lost without the brick hammer
Scraping his steerer tube along the kerb, DREAMS!!
Ha, oh Sam
Matts analogys have me in stitches! Butters 🤣
Steve Smith would be proud of that mega jump at the end. Great tribute on the bike.
Hey mat love the videos the backyard trail series inspired me to make my own trail love the videos keep them coming
Your building time lapse music is honestly the anthem of my lockdown. I swear every time I hear that song it will always take me back now
Props for that send. That Bike is savage! After tearing my shoulder I cant go back to a big rig, so I need a H/tail like this ASAP! Gosh Darrrrn.
Your should come to Western Australia for a tour, you’ll love it!!!
"Room temperature margarine for the first 100 mil on a base of refrigerated butter. Like there is support, that has some cushion then there's just that pure plushness which you can spread on anything. And the room temperature margarine is warming the butter as the butter is cooling the margarine -that heat transfer. So you get this progressive rampness".
Do I get the reference?
Idk m8, I don't even know that's a reference.
It sounds like someone is explaining how to make a perfect bread dough to me.
He's just saying that the fork has a nice ramp up
@@sorenoneil3876 Well, thats the truth.
I just didn't see that reference broke in before I can understand that he just want to say that.
The sounds of Matt flying downhill on his hardtail brings music to my ears
I swear there is nothing I enjoy more on youtube than these build-lapses
That’s a beautiful hardtail man. Sick 🔥🔥🔥
You should get box 1. If I get the dropper post I will put it ok my Marin hawk hill 1. Love the vids keep it up.
Matthew what I think you should do is hop on a ferry and come to glenncullen adventure park in Dublin, Ireland. There’s some gnarly tech here, flow and a huge jump line with a great uplift service. Ireland needs the exposure to more mountain biking and you will do just that🤘hope you see this ;)
THIS ^
Feeling the love up here in Canada for Steve, thanks for reppin. The whistle from the bike in the air off that sender was sick! If you ever go back to whistler you should ride my local spot Thornhill in Maple Ridge, BC. It's about an hour east of the airport, really sick flowy trails. I shot an edit of my buddy who is one of the trail builders there, it's on my page if you wanna get an idea of what one of the trails is like
Matt: Simply SMASHING it on the epic hardtail. Soooooooo jelly... err, buttery of that new Ohlins mate!!!! Cheeers!
Bike is orange, the Red Bull logo on Matt's hat is red.
Yeh lol
Bike park ideas: Hamsterley forest up north, good all round bike park and has Danny Harts Decent bike park there aswell, I highly recommend 👍🏼
Ben laughing at your shenanigans crack me up!
Danbury common, no fresh ground thou, a small hard tail paradise.
For the drivetrain, definitely the e-thirteen helix cassette in orange to match the bike, and then the box 1 shifter because it is orange too.
Love the videos happy to see that your back
Makara Peak in Wellington, New Zealand... Get here and we'll put you up!
Love your work, keep it up.
The new hardtail looks sick! As a Canadian, the flag on the downtube for Stevie Smith looks just awesome.
When restrictions are eased go to farmer johns and Whaley skatepark.my locals buggy jumps with the biggest jump 35ft and the biggest I’ve done is 16ft
Castle Hill Bike Park is my local which is an official place that I've been building at. We want the park to become more popular so it would be great if you came one day! It's on Google Maps and it's got a pump track at the entrance which is brilliant. Hopefully you see this as I love your videos 👍😁
The hubs sound amazing
The masking at 11:57 had me going back multiple time. Nice work Ben
Mate I would love to win that dropperpost because I have a friend who doesn‘t have one and its so annyoing when we go on a ride and he always has to get off his bike to drop the seat down so it would soo cool du give him a dropper Post😂
Thanks🙏
And i would suggest you to take the golden sram casset on this beutiful bike matching the silver cranks
Give the man a dropper post!
That man needs a dropper
Be a doll and gift him the dropper Matt mate
If this guy doesn't get the dropper the giveaway is rigged
This comment is sus, feel like the guy is making replies to his own comment
Bike Park Ideas: I think you’ll love Leeds Urban Bike Park and Farmer Johns in Stockport. Leeds Urban Bike Park has loads of different jumps all different sizes but Farmer Johns has much bigger jumps which I think will put your bike to the test 🤟 Love your videos! Keep up the content 🤙
Farmer Johns is MINT 🤟
I agree 🤛
Farmer John's is just round the corner from me. Marple/Glossop and it's an amazing place. Videos don't do it justice. He's done alot over past few weeks. Was building a new set of jumps to side of the flow line last month.
Farmer johns PENG
Super sick ride. One day I'm gonna have a sick hardtail like yours. awesome stuff bro.
damn i love hardtails.. such a future proof design.. sleek and clean
Yo gnarly dood
Castle Hill Bike park in Salisbury. Its a free community bike park just opened.
That frame protector looks well sick!!
This bike is so Rad!!! I’m saving to buy my first trail bike finally! I have chosen the 2021 San Quentin 1 since that’s the peak of my budget. Can’t wait!! Really hoping I’ll be able to find one
GRENOSIDE and WARNCLIFFE in Sheffield steel city need u to ride it. It’s Peatys playground
Getting famous off of comments day 141, so I can live the dream, send it till you die.🤙🚀🤙
Followed by a trip to the peaks to ride the winhill trails/Alpine trail
And bolehills at the same time, prime bmx track
@@charliewilson1634 Then surely would have to do all the sneaky Bolehills downhills as well
My local bike park is Hunchback hill in Australia mate!
Whinlatter, Keswick in the sunny Lake District! Great secret trails and some awesome natural rides too!
POV looks sick with all the new upgrades
When the world needed him the most
Bike park idea: the “bull track” in Crowborough
nah its closing for winter soon i went the otherday
he was meant to go down while the track was getting the most traffic, yk the time when it was rammed for about 3 months
Chevin forest bike park ls 21 sick jumps long techy trails and rock drops.Hope to see you there keep shredding!
Since I’m a swiss mountain biker I really recommend you Lenzerheide bike kingdom. It has technical trails, two big jump trails and the UCI worldcup downhill trail!
I mean it's not an official bike park but the trails are mint. It's a forest called kilbourn forest and the trails are amazing. They recently got knocked down but they're better built now. Give it a try matt. It'd bee rlly cool
U could go to Woodys, poldice/unity, and grogley in Cornwall they won’t be like revolution but they would be good fun on a hardtail
Mate you better use a Box One Prime 9 Drivetrain, it's bloody sick cause the colors match and it's all about durability and reliability, perfect for a hardtail! Chur from New Zealand
you two should deffinetly come to gwyrdir bach and gwyrdir mawr also known as the marin trails so it makes sense to test it there
The drivetrain components you should put on-
•e-thirteen helix cassette in anodized Naranja orange. to match with the absolute black orange chainring
•SRAM AXS wireless Derailleur
•KMC Black and orange chain
Yep
Ethirteen cassettes are shit they just break
The original comment of this coz everyone’s copying you and claiming bit as thiers
@@baileydillon7809 thanks man,at least now I know that I’m not the only one that thinks I had a good idea😂btw thanks for standing up for me instead of copying me like all the other unoriginal commenters!
@@mason_stratton7 np man, it was really annoying to see other people say that other people had copied them and they where the original it just pissed me off
I love Matt just for his phrases ‘room temperature margarine 😂
Destroy everything circular about the bike :D
The hydrocut trails in kitchener Ontario are a great set of beginner/intermediate trails. You have a bike with a Canadian tattoo so it's only right to test it in Canada! 🍁
Hi Matt I love ur vids and ur such a big influencer to me thanks so much through lock down for all the vids to
Come to Farmer Johns mtb park in Cheshire, Has everything from big jumps to steep downhill!
Giveaway:
- I vote sram axs because what's better than less clutter on your bike.
I would love that dropper bro I'd put it straight on my hardtail I'm building!
Good luck :)
I say the SRAM XG-1299 in rainbow (never thought I would say that) to get a little hint of that blue you were looking for. I would otherwise go with black. Glad you are back to making videos! You were missed! I doubt you will head to Florida anytime soon, but Alafia is my home trail!
New forks looks awesome give it such a aggressive look
You need to come to Dublin sickest trails just opened in Glencullen Adventure Park.
wharncliffe in sheffield is insane, has everything ya need. drive train wise go for the sram xo1 with the gold cassette to match the chainring
Matt Renshaw aswell as endor near silkstone
Props to whoever edited this 👍👍
For a murdered out look and not to take attention away from the sick frame protector!
I would put on:
-Wippermann Connex
black gold chain to match the Öhlins yellow
-SRAM
XG-1175
-SRAM
X01 Type 2.1 Rear Derailleur
Just make this bike a single speed Downhill racer
Dumb idea but why not?
Yeah stick some triple clamps on it
He isnt a downhill rider
Somebody get this man a ohlins sponsorship
Ik right, those forks are like $1200 lol
Yeah changing the dropper post lever is a winner. I upgrade the lever on my setup to integrate with the SRAM brake lever mount. Made a huge difference. But my dropper post is in dire need of replacement. I have refurbished it my self but it is starting to slip again. Have loads of fun at the trails in Tokai, Cape Town
Ur actually such a legend :)
Ur vids are amazing!
I would love to have the dropper for my first full sus that I’m building up but unfortunately it doesn’t have internal cable routing capability so good luck to everyone else. I think you should try out the box line out maybe the box one or two could match hardtail?
Flims Bikeprak in Switzerland u have a hotel and sick trails there
We went to antur stiniog North Wales a couple of weeks ago,4 days of riding we where really impressed with the place and still open 👍
Absolutely awesome 😎
Everyone is probably going to say sram axs but any cable operated drivetrain would be more reliable, box has matching colors, love your Marin video I’m from there haha
Same my guy bay area bois
@@hashbrown5506 yo bay area for the win man, mountain biking literally started on mt tam in marin!
Sram axs is not unreliable
It has never broken down for 18 months
@@eamonlee159 well I guess if you say so but it’s the fact that you have to charge it and if you forget or run out you are I trouble you just don’t get that with a normal shifter
Matt: casually single hand wheelying while whistling
Me: trying my best to lift the front end of my bike 2 inches
Mart is coming so close to 1/2 million 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
“Room temperature margarine on refrigerated butter”. Best analogy ever. Love it.
Ride mt stromlo forest park act Australia it’s one of the best bike parks in the world, you might not be able to get to it during covid but after try to get there it’s my local and it’s sick, ps love ur vids keep up the great work👌🏻👌🏻😎🔥
Best wood Jumps or Sherwood Pines, both in Nottingham, used to ride them a lot not sure what they’re like now tbh
Been told Sherwood pines is crap now
The GAP Ireland is so good
dropper post is my next upgrade wish list item on my hardtail kona which is very close to the colour of your bike. loving the build lapses.
SRAM XO1 drivetrain with a gold XX1 chain to match the ohlins logo. I’m in SERIOUS need of a drivetrain so when you give away the old one, I would be very grateful to win
I would die for those rock shocks he probably won’t see this 😂
Your not alone my man.
Yep
same
Will never happen tho bc I need a bike not parts bc I’m broke
@@joshuabarnes1591 Go get a cheap Kona Dirtjump Hardtail like the Shred or stuff and go up in frame size, that makes for a really usable trail hardtail!
I bought one for 140€ a few months ago, cleaned it up, made some small changes and now it’s an amazing bike to ride!
Since it’s 26“ you can get amazing high quality parts for very cheap, since everybody is throwing out 26“ parts.
I went for a super cheap rock shox Pike from 2006 and some amazing dt Swiss wheels which also where very cheap.
The bike is just amazing now and was super affordable!
Such a beautiful bike and product. I own the 2019 San Quentin 3. I still like the 2019 paint job better. Best of luck Mr. Jones and stay safe!!
Love all the vids mate! All the way fr. phillipines
Sadly croft in swindon😂 however, the dirt jumps are now pretty decent and not brick walls😂
woody as a mountain biker: there’s a snake in my woods. oh nvm it’s just matt jones with halos
I really like the sound of those wheels
