Assuming that the calculations are correct, which you can debate if you like, there is actually so much space that nothing will collide. Which is astounding to me, but just goes to show how insanely big space is. Another way of visualising how ridiculously massive space is, is that you could fit all the planets of our solar system next to each other between the earth and the moon. Insane!
Even if nothing gets directly hit, the gravity of a whole galaxy passing through will pull everything out of wack.
I guess it depends on how you define nonviolent. There may not be a lot of stuff colliding but it's going to reshape the entire galaxy.
