We can finally freehand draw our masks in PI! My new script allows you to freehand draw, draw ellipses, squares, along with moving the shapes, resize them, and rotate them. There are various mask types to use, a binary, lightness, and chrominance mask types too!
I think this has been a feature sorely missing from PI. I hope this is a big help for everyone!!!

Comments and Suggestions appreciated!
V1.1 has a Color Mask Type now too! You can select Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, or Magenta
Thank you so much. You have become the Thomas Edison of astrophotography processing software. And you are right, this is a function Pixinsight has really needed. As with all your scripts, this one helps simplify the entire process, a virtue always welcome in our hobby. You and your work (i.e., your scripts) have been the most significant development in astrophotography this year in either software or hardware.
Omg! Thank you so much! Not sure about "most significant" but I am glad they are helping out the community!!
Thanks, Frank. Ur scripts are simplifying using PI and allowing me more time to image, less time processing. Keep them coming!!😊
Thank you so much!!!
Awesome Frank you are delivering big time for the AP community with your scripts. It’s only a matter of time before others find your channel 🙌
You are just killing it with these scripts! A nice addition to the free hand mask script would be a brush option. I use this in Affinity Photo to paint selections in precise areas for adjustments .
Maybe in a version 2! Coding in PI is super limited, but maybe I can find a way!
Love your work, intuitive and practical scripts. I had a dew heater fail the result was a large elliptical distortion around the centre of the image. It would be handy if you draw a shape inside another that it takes away from the mask ie. a hole. If an eclipse drawn inside an eclipse would leave a donut.
Make two masks and use my MaskMerge script set to subtract. That is the easiest way to make a donut right now
Great! You should be in PI Hall of FAME if there is such a thing.
Your scripts are amazing! A great addition would be a maximize button on top right for all of them! Loving your work!
You mean to make the dialog the size of the screen?
@@setiv2 Yes! Any that have a preview (like FAME or Statistical Stretch) .. Would see image much easier I think!
@@user-bn9jn4ty9q i can look into it. Javascript in PI is weird. I probably need to have PI ping what resolution your monitor is and stuff. Worth looking into for sure!
My man. You're on fucking fire. This is amazing. Many of your scripts have replaced my previous workflow.
Thanks! I can’t tell you how many times I wish I had this tool when working on an image. Bravo!
Thank you for making this. Looking forward to using this with the other great scripts
Ah jeez. Now I have to go back over all my projects again. Thanks
Looks slick; thanks Frank!
Wow Franklin! Your suite of scripts became a real game changer for PI. I already see great opportunities for the combination of FAME and the mask combination script.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow! I am totally gobsmacked! I suggested it yesterday and today you delivered in spades. Do you ever sleep?
Sleep?? Didnt you hear? Astrophotgraphers do it in the dark :)
Wow, great stuff. You are on a roll. Thank you!
Wow - this is so much better. Thankyou!
Now this is what I call evolution! 🎉
Many many thanks for all the great free stuff that you give. It is full of hard work and you are making the Astro community admire you!
Another amazing script! You are putting these out faster than I can test them.
What I need is clear nights so I can spend it telescoping instead of scripting hahaha
@@setiv2 Your pain is our gain!
I just came back from 4 nights away at a dark(ish) site in Vermont. And I only had about 2 hours of clear skies 😅
@@Naztronomy thats sucky!! I got rain from hurricane beryl tonight
Your latest mask tools are terrific and very much needed. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Thanks again. You’re building great tools for Pi! I’m new user and not real technical, so tools like this make Pi, that much simpler to use.
👍
If i see the comments on your new script it is difficult to add better reactions, simply amazing work Frank, maybe a Nobel prize? 💪
Haha I appreciate it Rigo!
you are relentless with these scripts......keep it up!!!!!!
Great script. No more range or GAME masks. This is what I was waiting for. Keep on rolling😊
This may be the end of the GAME script for me :)
Wow--you may just have solved my biggest PixInsight complaint. Thank you!
This could be game changer thank you
This Is awesome. Yóve done it, again. Your work is so clever that is making proccesing much easier. Congrats again.
This FAME Script is really God sent. It's my got to script for all my masking needs. Thank You for sharing this with us. What would be awsome is if you could up the zoom level more so we can do more precise masking. Thanks !
There are multiple zoom levels in the dropdown. You can go in all the way to 1:1.
@@setiv2 > Yes, I know that but I find 1:1 is still not enough........apologies.
@@alfredterrence6112 oh ok! I am working to make zooming in with the mousewheel functional. That is my next goal with this script
FAME v1.3 just pushed out. You can zoom in and out with the mousewheel now.
@@setiv2 > Oh my, exactly what I needed. Thank You very much. I totally use most of your script for my workflow now thanks to your complete workflow video and I must say you take processing to a whole new level. How can I donate to you for your time & hard work work in producing these scripts. Please let me know.
Frank, I find your script very nice additions to PI! Another variant to this mask script would to be analogous to Ps paint-brush, with the cursor (best w/ Wacom type tablet) making a varying widths, opacities, and softness. This will give greater control.
That amount of coding may be beyond my skillset. Something that would be amazing for sure if I can figure it out.
Amazing!! I appreciate for your beautiful works that help us a lot. Keep up your excellent works. Thumbs up.
Just fantastic!!!!! Sorely needed as you said.
Yet another amazing and useful script. THANKS 🙏
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!!
We don’t deserve you! …thank you…This script gives us a lot of freedom.
Now if only there was a way to use layers and a masking brush to combine specific regions from differently processed images of same target as one can do in PS, Gimp, Afinity Photo.
Pixelmath with masks can do that but it is clunky, you have to know what you are doing.
Most Excellent.................
Hi Franklin, I need to post another comment. I like your two recent scripts but I have an issue with them. I am running PI 1.8.9.3 Build 11 and I have your github URL in my repositories. Unfortunately Mask Merge and FAME are not listed in Scripts -> Seti Astro. The Mask Merge and FAME I need to execute via Execute Script and select it from the file browser then. Maybe you need to have a look at the scripts once more that they are added to the scripts list. Thanks a lot!
Go to Scripts->Feature Scripts-> Add then navigate to the folder c://program files/pixinsight/src/scripts. Click Select Folder button. PI will re look through the scripts folder and add any scripts it missed.
FINALLY!!! Why has it taken all this time to get a freehand mask tool in PI?? Thank you Frank!
I know right?!?!?! I feel like why the heck am I the one that had to make this lol
Windows Defender flags the FAME scripts as containing a trojan and removes the download. Any ideas why that is happening?
@@elbass0 first I have heard of that. Are you downloading the zip file? Any reason you arent using the repository?
@@setiv2 i didn't notice the link to the repo. That works without issue.
i cant add the repository link 😭😭
What error are you getting? To use the repository you need at least build 1605
When execute i get : ** Warning [162]: C:/Program Files/PixInsight/src/scripts/FAME.js, line 474: reference to undefined property this.parent.shapeTypes[index]
Thanks. Can you email me a screen shot kf the console? What PI build are you using? What version of FAME is it? frank@setiastro.com
Thanks!
Thank you!!🎉
