  • Video showing the rider controls for the 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT handlebars and dash. This bike is the DCT model with airbag. Showing what the rider has available at his fingertips. Other Gold Wings from 2018, 19, and 20 will be very similar.

    Great video! On the video at about 5:25 into it you show the dash lights on the right hand side. Can you tell me what the picture of the motorcycle going uphill means? Also, where it says N Tour, what does it mean when that goes away and is replaced by four boxes. Thank you!

      The uphill bike light indicates Hill Start Assist. When you are riding and come to a stop, the bike will hold on a hill for three seconds after you release the brake so you do not coast back before you get a chance to give the bike throttle. As for the four blocks in place of the Neutral indicator, I will have to check that and see the next time I get on the bike. At what time in video do you see this?

      @@neemafastcat My husband does Honda and HD MotorTrike conversions in Oregon. He's primarily an HD mechanic but will service a Honda trike for a customer if asked. We have one in our shop now that is giving him an error message in the area where the drive mode is usually displayed. It will display four boxes in the screen. I haven't been able to find out what the boxes mean. We know it's an error message of some sort. Thank you for responding to my message. I appreciate your time!

      @@debbiehodgson672 I think you only need to run the DCT Initialization based on what you say. See video here: czcams.com/video/mRkTBTdAAAg/video.html

    Hi John. Because my feet do not work as well as they should the Honda GL1800DA, having DCT, was an obvious option for me for a touring motorcycle. When I saw the master cylinder on the left handle bar of your Gold Wing in your video it immediately drew my attention. I have had to remove my Gold Wing's rear brake foot lever because my right foot would press on the brake lever without my realizing it. I am now looking to fit a left hand rear brake lever just as you have on your Gold Wing. Please fill me in on all the components you used to get that done and how and where you integrated that braking system into your Gold Wing and tell me if you find the result to your satisfaction. Even without the foot brake my Gold Wing's braking, thanks to combined braking, is still pretty phenomenal but it can be better.

      I too removed the rear brake pedal so that I did not rest my foot on it. I am a paraplegic and that is why I have the handbrake added. The hand lever that was added is really just the stock clutch lever and reservoir then tied into the foot pedal mechanism. You need to test this yourself but I think that when you use the front hand brake, there is no "combined braking". Only the foot pedal would give you that. For a real test, lift the rear of the bike up and spin the rear tire then apply the handbrake. When I did that, my rear tires (trike) kept spinning, thus proving that the right hand lever only applied brake to the front wheel. You will find this other video interesting as I show more of the brake mod. czcams.com/video/JaaDfWBF3Z4/video.html

    What is the black plastic thing on top of the dash that can pop up with two slots in it used for?

    • @neemafastcat

      It seems to be a pop-up vent. If you have that up, then there is some air that comes in under the windshield and that air gets vented to the rider.

    Question. Where did you purchase the rear left brake?
    Cost?

    • @neemafastcat
      @neemafastcat  Před 2 lety

      The left brake is really just a clutch lever and reservoir from the non-DCT model then piped into the rear brake system to allow for a hand brake that works the same as the foot brake. Search on Traxxion Dynamics for the video on the install. Cost about $2500 for parts and installation.

    It's the worst bike control. Honda committed a disaster in control, not in the fork.
