  • The Magicshine Allty 2000 headlight illustrates just how far we’ve come in terms of advancement. Not only does the Allty 2000 incorporate two Cree XM-L2 V60 LEDs, but there is an additional low-output LED designed to be used as a day-time-running-light (DRL). With a retail price of $149.99, the Allty 2000 is aimed at cyclists or commuters who want a high-powered all-in-one headlight.
    The modern exterior design is complemented by the three light element design and a built-in Garmin style quarter turn mount. This makes the Allty 2000 a top choice for those running out-in-front style Garmin mounts, as you don’t need an additional adapter to mount the light. The light is also rated at IPX5 and is powered by two 18650 Li-ion batteries with a micro USB charging port. The Li-ion batteries uses a cartridge style encasing for 3500 mAh of power and runtimes that range from 14.5 hours for DRL only down to 1 hour for the full 2000 lumen output.
    With the added DRL, the Magicshine Allty 2000 has a total of 5 unique output modes. The modes are: DRL only, DRL + left LED, DRL + right LED, DRL + both LEDs and finally the DRL + both LEDs flashing. On top of this, everything but the DRL-only-mode have 4 different power settings (25% - 100%). Together, this means the Allty 2000 boasts an impressive (or impractical depending on how you look at it) 17 different mode options. The OLED display screen does show the output mode with a simple circle display, but does not indicate the power output setting aside from the runtime display decreasing on higher modes. On the road, it’s often difficult to tell the left/right LEDs modes apart, and you can easily get lost in the different power settings.
    Overall, the Magicshine Allty 2000 is an impressive commuter light. Magicshine has addressed a lot of the weak points of the Monteer 1400 resulting in a feature packed and modern commuter light. With the dual LED and DRL design, the Allty 2000 is great for both daytime and nighttime riding. Also, the integrated Garmin mount and OLED screen are both highly desirable features at this price point. While we wish the Allty 2000 had replaceable battery cells and simplified output modes, it’s a great improvement over their previous commuter lights and one of the best all-in-one lights we’ve tested yet.

    Nice review! Have you tested the Fenix FBC30R or Nightcore BR35? Seems to be in the same class. Can't make up my mind on which to get.

      @TheSweetCyclists  Před 4 lety +1

      We haven't reviewed the BC30R or other BC variations from Fenix, but we do have a video on the BC21R v2.0. The BC lights are due for an update, as they've been out for awhile now. The Allty 1000 and 2000 are hard to beat with their integrated DRLs and Garmin mounts though.

    • @MightyCalves
      @MightyCalves Před 4 lety +2

      @@TheSweetCyclists I agree. Only big advantage I see on the BC family is that they don't blind oncoming traffic, with a more ground directed beam. I find that quite important

    What about connecting the power bank while the light is ON. Can you charge/maintain the power from external power bank while using the light ?

    • @TheSweetCyclists
      @TheSweetCyclists  Před 4 lety +1

      Great question. Just tried it out and it does work, it appears to be charging and running at full power. The Allty 1000 doesn't have the feature, and shuts off when plugged in.
      I'd also recommend checking out the new Magicshine RN 1200, it has USB Type-C charging and discharging which is the first we've seen. We'll be releasing that review in two weeks.

    • @TheSweetCyclists
      @TheSweetCyclists  Před 3 lety

      You should be able to charge it directly through the USB port. There is a little light next to it that should illuminate when it is being charged (red while charging, green when done). Depending on what type of outlet you use, it may take a few hours to fully charge.
      If that doesn't work, you can reach out to Magicshine customer support - they've been pretty quick to reply when I've had issues in the past.

    Do you have real-world battery durations for the Allty 2000?

    • @TheSweetCyclists
      @TheSweetCyclists  Před 4 lety +3

      Great question. I haven't done any timed tests, but I've found the runtimes to be consistent with the published values. The OLED screen with time remaining has been pretty accurate as well, aside from some noise (it will fluctuate up/down a bit during a ride). It's far better than normal lights with one or two color battery status indicators.

    @JitinMisra Před 5 měsíci +1

    Do you think Rn1500 is enough for road/ neighboorhood riding with no street lights, if you are going 17-18 mph, or is higher lumen preferable ?

    • @TheSweetCyclists
      @TheSweetCyclists  Před 5 měsíci

      Anything over ~1000 lumen should be enough for dark trails even at higher speeds. The beam shape is also important to consider and not just lumen count. Something like the Magishine EVO 1700 feels brighter because of the lens design that focuses the light on the ground.

    Olight and Magicshine Allty 2000

    • @TheSweetCyclists
      @TheSweetCyclists  Před 3 lety

      Olight has a number of re-branded Magicshine lights. Most of them have the same features, but some of the Olight models (like the Olight 120) have slightly less features for a lower price.

    • @TheSweetCyclists

      No I don't believe it is. It's also a micro-USB charging port. The newer RN3000 and other lights are USB-C with power bank functionality.

      That's a pretty nice deal especially for the OLED display that the Allty offers. Magicshine does have some bright lights now with the Ray 2600 and RN series, but the Allty 2000 is still the only light to offer DRL + Replaceable Cartridge Battery + OLED display.

  • @mekstro6290

      @@TheSweetCyclists correct the first would lose all charge under 10 days of no use even out of the housing. Current one is better but still drains a bit slower, offered a refund by Olight but its such a great light i decided to keep it and just use it till its no good anymore. Gets a little to hot as well on the body even on level 2 on level 4 sure make sure your moving or things will get too hot. I have a load of Lithium Ion flashlights so I am well versed in how things work, not 1 light i have drains like this Allty even the ones with aux. flashing LED.
