  • In this video I will go through top 5 features, that might surprise you by not being part of Revit LT. The are included only in full Revit version. These features are linking or importing PDF files. View Filters which enable you to filter and change objects visibility or graphics overrides in views and apply these filters to different views. Decals is a tool which enables you to place pictures as a texture which is not repeating like when it is used as material texture. It is usually used for signs, logos, paintings and so on. Assemblies enable user to join several entities into one unit, which than behaves as one object. It works in different way than groups. Groups are included in Revit LT whilst assemblies are not. Shape Editing for Floors and Roofs enables users to adjust the shape of floors and roofs with shape handles. This is especially useful for creating slope on flat roofs. It can also be used when you need to adjust curbs or driveways.

Linking and inserting PDF files has been added as a new feature in Revit LT 2024 in April 2023. Hooray! Good job by Autodesk.

I think Autodesk leaving out some of these features is deliberate. It is like how they did away with FBX file extension in Autocad. Just ridiculous.

Thanks for your videos. Is there a work around with creating a walkthrough video and sending to a client. I have tried to do it… it saves as an Avi file and the quality it very very bad! I have converted the avi file to an mp4 and the quality is still bad. Do I need to upload to a different program?

Frankly, Revit is not ideal tool to create animations. Try exteneding your camera size so that the result is at least 1080x1080px. Other than that, you are relying only on Revit's viewport graphics, which is not that great. If you work with 3D visals a lot, I would recommend purchasing Twinmotion license (you can test it for free). FBX export from Revit LT works well with Twinmotion.

@@nikkylou It takes some tome to learn to work with Twinmotion, but in my opinion it is worth it.

No twin motion for us. bummer!

You can still use Twinmotion with Revit LT even though there is no direct link. Simply export the 3D model as fbx file and you can import this file to Twinmotion. You can work on this file in Twinmotion, add assets, change materials, etc. When you change the Revit model, you export fbx file again and update with the new file (re-upload) in Twimotion. All the assets and material changes in Twinmotion remain, only your model changes. It is not as seamless as with direct link from full Revit, but it works great in my opinion. I never used this workflow in production, but my testing looks promising.
One more note: is you use Twinmotion commercially, you have to pat for the license. But it is priced quite reasonably in my opinion.
