From Mark. There is a “Curly Cue” on the right side of the handlebar specifically for the pull rope that saves from having to pull the rope from the top of the engine.
As for me, I’m going into my second mowing season with my ST100. TSC has the .155 Shakespeare Ballistic Cord Spool in which I usually cut in 18,7/8 inch sections according to what the measurement of the orange CC strings were that was provided with your trimmer. A Word Of Advice; It’s not a bad idea to wear safety glasses because of all the flying debris that this machine throws out. The only thing that I would like to see is a self propelled version of the ST100 for folks like me that have leg problems. Best of luck with your mower and My Very Best Regards From Ky.

@@markcollins5026 There are other videos of the ST-100 wheeled string trimmers that people do not secure the pull rope within the “Eyelet or Curly Cue” as I originally referred to it.

Purchased this walk behind trimmer at a reputable big box store. After putting in fresh, treated 91 non-eth gas..and checking for right amount of oil, would not start. Would NOT start. Had several bird strikes on it so figured it sat outside somewhere for a good portion of it’s life…ascertained it is 2021 model. Tore down and removed carb. The main jet was plugged. (from old gas when started at factory ????). After small eye dropper prime, started right up, but, didn’t run very long. After repeating this 6 times finally continued to run.

The Cub ST-100 was a good trimmer until my Spindle (the item at the front the sting mounts to) sealed bearings froze up on the shaft after 14 months of light use. Cub refused to warrant the part saying it was a "wear-item", even though the trimmer has a 3-year warranty and a 2-pull start guarantee. When I asked the dealer mechanic how much I was quoted $283 dollar for parts/labor to replace the spindle/bearing unit. The trimmer only cost $319 to begin with. Needless to say, always ask what is warranted and what is not before buying. I got burned so I hope you don't.

I have a vacation home in WV and I have several wet areas that I have to mow. I can’t use the rider because it will just sink and get stuck. So I have to use a push mower in those areas instead. However, the grass/weeds are usually wet so a push mower always gets clogged and I spend more time cleaning it out than actually mowing. I just wanted to ask if you thought this machine would work well in a wet area.

How does this do on hills and slopes?
Btw, I wouldn't use a weed trimmer wearing shorts. But that's just me.

These trimmers have big wheels and are fairly light. The trimmer can be easily tilted back. So they are much easier to handle on hills than traditional four wheeled push mowers.
If a self propelled trimmer is needed you need to look at an Italian Grillo or BCS trimmer. These machines are much more expensive.

@@TheWaterman1000 That is right - go to your local store and buy an aluminum plate this site and see how much it cost you, then go find a 5" caster swivel wheel and see how much it cost you, don't forget a set of bolts, nuts, washers. now try to fabricate it like our as we use our CNC to cut it, it takes us almost 2 hours to cut the plate - $28.00 to ship it bu USPS. The people who bought it, they are loving it and they are so happy and they thanks us for making the plate.
