That was an amazing video. I've been doing quilting but I wanted to start doing bags And pouches And I found your channel and I am so lucky You explained everything so beautifully. Thank you
One of your bag dudes here. As you can imagine, I make bags that are utilitarian in nature. Bags and cases to carry important electronic equipment, or safeguard something fragile and irreplaceable. I've been looking for a perfect pattern to make a travel case for my JBL Charge3 bluetooth speaker. This will fit the bill, although the dimensions are almost too tight. And I'll have to make it with a nice durable zipper. I"m a guy. We sometimes like overkill. When I told my ailing mother last year that I wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine, she suggested quilting, and bag making. I figured bags are utilitarian in nature. Sometimes, guys hate to admit it, but we do carry some form of purse. We call it a messenger bag, back pack, man bag, man purse or Murse. It doesn't matter to me. I've carried some kind of bag with my stuff in it since I was in the military. Old habits are hard to break. I've learned so much from watching and following along with your patterns. Thanks for all of your great tutorials.

You can even make a quilted/ foam backed draw string pouch if you find zippers a pain.
Thank you so much. The corners are a bit confusing but will replay & sew one soon.
I couldn’t sleep, so this was a great thing to watch at 4am. Thank you! I love your attention to detail. It’s very much appreciated.
Lol

I noticed you also remind the person watching to re-set the stitch size. Keep up the great work. From the video of your hands and your voice, you are young, but with lots of knowledge about sewing. A great video for beginners and those of us with gray hair.

Love your demonstrations by far the best on you tube also great you let us have patterns I have always made separate linings for box pouches so an inavative way of attaching linings thanks again
A great tutorial. Thanks for your presentation. I made one with raw seams inside but wasn’t happy with it. Looks like I will be happy with my next one.

Hey,thanks for sharing.I have learnt a lot of tips from you.all the best.
Such attention to detail!
Hi there thank you so much, your voice was so clear to understand how to follow, and i just love your free pattern thank you again
Hi Sara - Awesome tutorial. I actually have those zippers and have used them in simple projects. Thanks for explaining how to sew them into a complex bag. I made a box pouch a few years ago and wish I had your tutorial back then. It would have been so much easier. Now that I have watched you make it, next one will be a lot better. I am going to use the soft and stable foam to my next one as well. It gives the bag a great shape looking at your bag. Great job.
PS - I am a proud bag lady! 😊🧵
Love the fabric
Hey there from a bag dude just learning how to make a bag. Thanks for your videos they are helping me a lot. Your a good teacher in your tutorials. You make me want to learn more. Keep up the great work.
Hello, thank you for your great tutorials
A little extra fussing but the finished inside seams are worth the time. Made many pouches with only served inside seams. This looks much nicer. Thanx
Really cool pouch!
So good to see you!!
SO CUTE THANK YOU!!
Thank you for the video and free pattern. I hope I can figure out how to put in a regular zipper for masculine bags.
Thank you, Sara!!! xox
Excellent tutorial! Well done.
Very beautiful 😊thank you
I so need to make one , but may need it longer in length :) My sister needs a knitting needle bag . I love this design and the ease of the sew out. Now to go on a zipper search. I have the cutest pink kitty and yarn ball fabric. Hope my pink zippers are long enough!
Love this pattern and I can't wait to make it. I was unable to download the PDF. Thanks for sharing with us, Sara.
Thanks Sara! I’ve been wanting to use one of those zippers! Hope you are doing well
At about 19:37 in the video, and in the pattern step 8 second paragraph -- I think I will sew the ends of the lining fabric together first and then sew the lining and exterior fabric all the way across. It should have the same result but be a bit easier to handle.
Super chouette ! thanks
Very very nice 🌹thank you 🌺
Thank you for including in your download that all measurements are width X height. Almost no one does that and it is incredibly helpful to me. This is such a great project! I loved the video tutorial as well.
Can’t find the free download to print. Please advise. Do wish to make.

So nice to hear your voice and see you back!!! Hello from 104 degree Orangevale, CA.
These box pouch make nice pill bag for people ,that take their pills to doctors appointment
Thank you
I am SEW happy I found your video Sara! I was wondering what unique hand made gift I could give my sewing/quilting friends and this bag is just PERFECT! I also have an embroidery machine, so I am going to experiment with adding machine embroidered designs to the side of the bag! Happy Thanksgiving!
So EXCITED to do this project!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thanks.
I struggled with boxing the corners and sewing over the handle. Finally had to hand sew bits of it by hand because I kept breaking needles. But the project turned out well in the end.
Genius! I have made box pouches before, but your method is WAY easier and I think will be a better finished product than those I have previously made. And for all of the bag dudes, wouldn't this be great in a manly fabric like camo or denim to be used for a shaving kit? Thinking about getting a head start on Christmas gifts for family members with toiletries included. Thank you Sara, for another great pattern.
Charlene Jutras Great idea, Charlie!
yes i agree
A great pattern and tutorial. I can't print the pattern so I would like to know the measurements so I can cut without the paper pattern.
It’s great to see you back and thank you for this beautiful pattern. Can’t wait to try it! Where do you get the lace zipper from?
You can order them from Amazon
I love it!!! But u must tell me where u got the scissors
Fantastic tutorial! I love how detailed you are. I have a question. What is the purpose of leaving that half inch unsewn?
On step 8 you sew the exterior and lining separately so leaving a gap enables them to be split for sewing
I think this will make the perfect pouch for a bee sting kit since my daughter is allergic. I'll have everything she need in one place
hi Sarah, just a little message to say a massive thank you for all of your tutorials, they are so easy to follow and you have so much patience... quick question, can you tell me what you are using as your ironing/pressing mat? it looks great quality and easy to use. thank you again, from sunny England ;-]
She is using a wool mat. Very nice to use & makes fabrics very flat especially when quilting.
Wonderful project. Looks amazing when finished. Where do you get your lace zipper from?
What kind of machine do you have? It looks so easy to work with. Great video!
Could you sew all the way across the lining at the boxed end before sewing to the outer and then do the shorter seam when attaching them instead of those very short seams on the lining?
I wonder if it would be easier ti sew that 1/2 inch of lining first then sewing the rest of the way on the foam.
HI. I'm a new subscriber and I'm new to sewing. I want to make bags, and find your tutorials very helpful. My sewing machine struggles with heavier fabrics and seams. What kind/model machine do you use?
Love this pattern. Does the pattern size need to be changed at all if I don't want to sew the lacy zipper on the bag? I have tons of regular vinyl zippers and would prefer to sew them in a more traditional way. Would I need to add or subtract anything from the top edge of the pattern to allow for a different zipper installation?
You can add a binding to a regular zipper and use it as she does. You can also add ribbon to the edges of a regular zipper? Make it the way you want it to look. Even just leave it as is! Cool utilitarian look!
