I'm 77 and have sewn like this for YEARS... I sew every day in retirement and wish that more people would find the joy and peace that can come with crafting and quilting... TY for bring this to the foreground... I hope more young people find this and realize that "perfect" does not exist! Just have fun and grown with it!
Hi, just found your channel and enjoyed you so much! Love your bag, I’m on a bag kick😂 right now. So I’m going to DH to buy some dish drying mats and get started! Thanks
I found this video and Love the tutorial! Thanks for your comment 🌷💕
Thank you Barbara, I have wanted to sew for years but had no time as was working 5-6 days. Took a year off work and starting to sew but fond it intimidating. But will keep doing baby steps😊
Thank you for your practical helpful and informative clip. So 👍 good😊
For the last nearly 10 years I've been severely disabled can barely walk or do anything anymore I'm just turned 43 I think if I hadn't had crafting and my kids I wud have give so ages ago I crochet do card crafting jewellery and started sewing aug 2023
I go to a cancer appt each month and I notice most chemo patients carry a bag of stuff as they will be there for awhile. This would fit the bill to take socks, fleece lap cover, sweater, tablet, earbuds, water bottle etc. Sometimes backpacks put pressure on the wrong spot or are too hard to manipulate...a bag like this in a beautiful color or design...perfect. Make one, donate one. What a lovely gift! Thank you...glad I found your channel.
@sissuesace thank you for this wonderful idea!
Beautiful idea as I am omw to Dollar Tree🤭
That's a terrific idea! Also, I send prayers for your health.
Oh my gosh I made one with a baby machine with no backstitch! You are so much fun!
You could sew velcro to be able to close it if needed. Or a button with a scrap material rolled or a tiny strap to hook around the button. I think it would be a great bag for a baby bottle diaper wipes for a quick trip to the store. What about a bag for a change of clothes for the park or toddler or child activity.
I can't believe you have less than 10k subscribers on here. You are a natural teacher and do such fun projects.
Thank you! 😊
I agree!
I agree too I have learned so much from your videos
I added!
💯 % AGREE 😊
I’ve never commented on a video before but I just wanted to tell you that you are a natural teacher. I usually fast forward through videos and this time I watched the entire video. Great job!
Wow, thank you! I appreciate your kind words!
Me too!
I am new to your channel and happy to have found it. I have sewn for almost 50 years. I love your commentary as you sew. The information about needles and stitch length is seldom mentioned but can make such a difference in the end product. Another economical fabric source is old sheets or pillow cases for lining. Thanks for your time and willingness to share. If you are new to sewing or have been sewing for years, you can always learn new techniques and tips.😊
34:19 same here!! I don’t usually watch all the video but after spending the last little bit learning how to make the bag, I feel like I’ve had an afternoon visit with a good friend!!
You’re a natural teacher! So pleasant! Perfect remarks!
Thank you-also, I stated keeping bees a few years ago (which I love!), so as it happens, the bag you made caught my attention!
I love how you go slow and explain everything.
This turned out so cute. Thanks for sharing. You have a great cadence for teaching and explaining how to sew in an encouraging way that I really like. ❤
Thank you so much!
You are awesome and the bag is so darning. I’m a 68 disabled woman that has not sewed in a long time, and you just gave me Christmas gift ideas for my4 daughter and 7 granddaughter. THANK YOU 🙏🏻❤️
A half hour well spent. Thank you.
Enjoyed this video and will be looking forward to seeing more of your projects.
I like this young lady with the “Betty Rubble” laugh. Good teacher. Thank you for a great idea.
😂😂😂😂
So funny. My mom says I have a Betty Ruble laugh, too! 🤣
Glad I found you Chelsea you are an awesome teacher and love love love your positive attitude!! We need more Chelsea in the world ❤God bless you !!
Please more easy sew along, real time with talking about exactly what you are doing!!! This is so helpful and not many people make these!!! I’ll tell everyone to watch!!!
My son's fiancee wants to learn to sew. I got her sewing machine all tuned up & now getting things ready for her to learn the basics before she ventures out on her own. Also glad she wants to do this as it will get me back sewing again, as well as my cousin too.
Thank u sooooo much for this idea, it is great!!
♥️ 🇨🇦
Love this! And also I don’t see a problem with singing! What do you always say to us- it’s your world I’m just living in it!!!! Sing your heart out girlfriend!
😂😂😂 I guess it does go both ways!
You won me over when you said, "I iron, I don't press". I do the same. When you iron, you can block at the same time, and even out small variances. Yes I am a quilter, but I iron. Thanks for the tutorial.
I iron my fabric also and my projects come out just fine. The only time I will press is if my quilt blocks have bias seams, gotta be careful with those bias seams. Everyone should just do what works for them, after all it’s supposed to be fun, and we shouldn’t worry about what others say about our desire to iron vs pressing. 😂
I really appreciate you took into account that not everybody has sewing skills, but there are people like me who really want to learn! Thank you! :) Love the bag!!!
You are so welcome!
I don’t sew. At all. BUT! This video was in my feed and I watched it and I enjoyed it! I actually have my Grandmother’s Singer sewing machine from the 40’s. You have given me the confidence that I might just try one of these! Thanks for the tutorial and inspiration. You’re easy to learn from, have a lovely voice, bubbly personality and remind me of my beautiful best friend when I was a kid.
Please share your finished product. Don’t forget, “perfect” does not exist! Best of luck to you!🙂
Wow!! I hope you do try it one day
Treasure that machine. It’s a high value item
Great tutorial, Chelsea! Your Home Ec teacher really must have been a good influence on you. I've been sewing for years and still learning more from you. Can't believe yet that I made a duffle bag and a market bag out of a dish drain mat. Who'd a thought huh? Great ideas! Keep the real-time videos coming...love them all! You're a real treasure to all and a beautiful girl, inside and out! ❤❤
I love both types of videos. The quick ones and the longer tutorials. Thank you for doing them❤
Glad you like them!
I just finished my bag!!! I am so freaking proud of myself. I've only ever made pillows and blankets. Super simple rectangle or square projects. So this was completely out of my comfort zone!!! Thank you for your tutorial!!
I love your sewing tutorials. I also learned to sew in home ec in school. It’s missing in today’s schools. I have made two duffel bags. Working on a smaller one and a makeup bag. You are a natural teacher. Keep up the good work.
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
I absolutely love this slower that way I don't have to keep going back thank you so much
Glad you enjoy it!
You are such a positive person, and your teaching is perfect. You definitely make it so simple to sew. Thank you so much for being a great teacher!
Thank you so much!
U are a born teacher. Just completed this bag using same dry mats . My grand kids school symbol is the bee. I’m a fairly new quilter and love to dabble in easy sewing projects to make gifts when I can. Only thing I changed was stitch length to 3.5 to get through the double layers of foam. U are amazing straight foward and building confidence. This also was a very forgiving project. Teachers are always lugging around tons of stuff. Will try to figure out how to send picture. Thank u C
You can use whatever color you like because it is your life!! 🙌 so refreshing ❤
Thank you ssoooo much for doing this. I have $5.00, so I can make me a handbag. Or tote bag or whatever I choose to use it for. I really appreciate your help and tutorial. Amazing. ❤
You are so welcome!
So cute! I would love to see more of these types of videos! You explain things very well as you go, and they are short enough for me to watch while I’m eating breakfast and plan my day.
Can't wait to try these! I love using reusable bags instead of paper gift bags for gift giving
Such a great idea. Multi purpose.
Thank you, you go slow enough to understand everything. ❤
Happy to help!
I have made 3 of these bags this weekend. My friends are loving them. Each one I added something different to it… this has brought me sew much joy. My husband said I have not seen you sew this much. I showed him your CZcams page and said That’s my Girl! She got me started sewing again! Thank you Chelsea!
Awww I love this!! Thanks for sharing!!!
I ran across your video today while not feeling well and you made me smile with your Dollar Tree bee bag. Your voice is soothing & comforting. Thank you.🎉
You are so welcome - feel better!!
I cannot sew. Maybe a button, or fix a hole. So just watching you is very calming. I probably will never sew but your tutorials are so fantastic that I may start when I retire and have time. Thank u. Keep it up. You are wondetful.
Oh thank you!
Girl I think I've met my twin crafting sister. You are awesome and so normal. I love that.
Very interesting projects for market day , it is cheap and easy to sell . Thank you so much for sharing your creativity , it is so much appreciated
yes!! love the slowed down version...I need one for your wet bag!!!
Coming soon!
❤ Awesome tutorial Chelsea. Natural teacher. 🐝🐝🐝
Glad you liked it!!
I love your laugh, along with your awesome tutorials. I have been crafting for about a year now, but haven’t worked up the courage to make a video yet. You make it look as easy as pie. Thanks for being you!🎉
I’ve sewed for 65 years and have still learned from you. You are such a wonderful teacher!!! Every one needs someone like you for teaching them!!!❤❤❤
Wow, thank you!
I loved your video, I’ll be watching more after I leave this message. Don’t stop the humming, singing and laughing, like you said there are no quilt/sewing police. Thank you for such and easy bag tutorial!! Keep up the great work there are so many of us who appreciate what you do!!
love your market bag. Our Dollar Tree here in NH has ugly fat quarters and I have only found the mats once or twice. Thanks for the tutorial.
I am in NH and i agree.
Love the full tutorial!! Please do more of these 😊
Thank you! Will do!
Just found this video. I’m hooked! You are such a great teacher. Heading to the dollar tree. Love the bee s
Welcome!!
I definitely enjoyed this video format! I would love to see any baby clothes or toys tutorials if they’re possible, even with dollar tree items!
Bible 'n' snack bag. Tablet/iPad bag. Produce bag....
Love! I did see the travel roll up. It's totally my jam. I'd love to see you do a full tutorial on that, if you have the time and desire. I'd super appreciate it 😊
You got it!
Your teacher should be so proud of ! You did a wonderful job. Thanks
Thank you so much!
You've included a lot of useful tips in this video. I appreciate it!
I shop at Dollar Tree all the time and NEVER thought to use these instead of fabric n batting for bags. So smart!
I am making one but going to turn it an sew on the short side and sew it in half to make a wine bag for the hostess gift. You should sew one too and show all your peeps m. ❤
I used to volunteer in my son's elementary school. Every year I would go to the 1st grade classes and teach them to sew pillows. We would use felt because it doesn't fray. I used blunt embroidery needles so no one gets hurt. The kids loved the project and began to be one of the most exciting days of the year. My own son was sewing with the machine by himself by the time he was 6. Sewing with kids is a life skill that is still taught in schools around the world sadly not in the USA. I highly recommend!
You are wonderful, I so enjoyed this project, and one of the comments actually gave me an idea about making these for Chemo and kidney facilities to donate. Our DAR sisters are busy sewing these for our health project in Cape Coral. You go girl, and what a wonderful instructor you are.
Maryola, Lawrence Kearny DAR Regent
Oh my goodness!!! What wonderful giving hearts you all have! I love this!!!!!!
@@shesewsseams I also used left over quilted fabric to make a couple of the bags, they turned out very nice, I used bias tape to cover the raw edges, then followed the same instructions. I really enjoy your energy. Keep going with these videos you're terrific.
Maryola
Yes I like the longer, no rushed videos. So happy I stumbled across your site.
Yay! Thank you!
I'm perfectly content with the abbreviated tutorials, but I'm watching to provide support! I found you on tiktok and i love this series! So fun and accessible!
Edit: also, pressing is for seams. Gentle ironing is for getting wrinkles out.
Love it and I love how you take it slow and explain and on a side note you have the most beautiful blue eyes
Thank you so much!!
Nice medium beach bag. Towel, book, lotion, glasses, snack. You can use it for whatever you want! Great teacher
Thank you!
You have an awesome personality and I enjoyed the tutorial . Thanks for no music, as nice to hear your instructions
I love that you don't have to use interfacing and the bag has a nice fluffiness!
Me too!!
I just watched this video again. I enjoy hearing you talk! You have such a kind and soothing voice! I watched your most recent video today that was shy of 10 minutes. I wasn’t ready for that video to end!! ❤
Oh thank you!
This just popped into my feed. I watched till the end even tho i have lots of chores to finish this morning. You're a great educator. Esp loved "pretty sides touching" instead of "right sides together " which is so more explanatory to novice sewers. It seems your home ec teacher was as much an influence in your life that Mrs Finken was in mine. I'm off to finish laundry then making a Dollar tree run!
Yay! Thank you!
I just found you today. I’m a 68 year old Nana and haven’t sewn (if that’s what you call sewing) since my Freshman year in high school 69/70? Anyway I ordered a lil Singer machine 2 days ago. So I know nothing. But I’m gonna follow you. I enjoyed your tutorial. So here’s to our sewing projects❣️
Welcome!!
I’ve been sewing for years but there is always more to learn! I adore you and love your Dollar Store series! Thank you for sharing your talent and skills! 🥰
You are so welcome!
Adorable! You’re a lot of fun to watch.
Oh thank you!
Dollar Tree here I come , gonna look at more of your videos! 😊😊😊😊😊
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL… found you on instagram and didn’t realize you had a CZcams channel. I love the pace, I also love the idea of finding things to sew on a budget… I am super excited!!! I will tell EVERYONE about your channel
Thank you so much!!
This is an awesome and simple project. I'm going to ask my 11 yr old granddaughter if she would like to sew this for her mother's birthday gift. I want to make one for me too!
Omg! I’m so glad to have watched this! I have no sewing experience and you are so awesome, that I can’t wait to try and make one of these! Thank you for making tutorials for complete beginners and being so supportive in your teaching! I also love how you explain everything. I can’t wait to watch more! I think with a little shorter handles this bag will be a great work tote for me! Thank you Thank you Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Loved this!!! Can’t wait to go shopping at Dollar Tree!!
Have fun!
OMGosh!! That bag is adorable. I have been sewing since I was 8 years old and I am now 68! This is one of the cutest projects I have seen in a long time!! You are so good at explaining what you are doing and a great encouraging force for women who are just starting to sew! I have always said that if you can sew you can do anything and bring out your own personality and style! I love this! Great job!
Thank you so much!
I have been sewing for 41 years never made a cute bag like that. Thank you for the tips was so easy. You are a great teacher! Glad I started watching CZcams sewing tutorials. Lots of cute things made on here. Can't wait to see what is next.
You are so welcome!
That would actually be super cute to do the yellow thread for the bee 🐝 bag!!! Like a really wimsy accent color ❤
I just made the bag and can’t wait until tomorrow to make another. Theresa.
I like the long format.
I've been sewing for years but always interested in a quick gift for a friend. Pockets on the outside is something I would add.
Love the Bag it’s so pretty 👍🏻👍🏻🪡🧵😊
Thank you! 🤗
I love how cheerful you are!
5$. Man, thats a money maker. I just subscrib3d. My sewing machine is in storage3 right now. but when i get more room, in my rental room, ill binge watch you.
THIS IS GREAT FOR GROCERY SHOPPING and will do well with the extra padding for cold goods.
You have been an inspiration to me! THANK YOU . Ive sewn on & off for 50 years + but have had a hard time lately returning to the craft that I love, Thank you for inspiring me with simple, beautiful pieces that I am proud of sharing, using & giving. You are a joy to watch & listen to also. Keep up the amazing work :)
Thank you for the kind words!
Headbands for handles - brilliant idea!! I’ve been sewing for 10 years and never thought of that ❤🎉
Making these for the grandkids and embroidering their names on the side of the bags. Thank you Chelsea you’re wonderful!
You are so welcome!
I am going to make these for my trip to the grocery store every week. They are just beautiful and very versatile. You made this video very fun to watch. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
You are a joy to watch. I know how to make a bag like this but I still enjoy watching this. You make things easy to understand and give confidence to achieving this. Some ppl are hard to watch.
I am loving ❤your tutorials! Thank you for being so much fun! Sewing is supposed to a ‘space’ where we can just dive into what makes us happy😊
LOVE how well you articulated how and why.
Thanks!
I love this!!! Can you do more tutorials? Zippers are my enemy 😅.
Ugh, zippers. My enemy too.
This bag is ALMOST as adorable as you, Chelsea! First time watcher here, long time sewer, and I'll be watching many more of your videos. Thank you, keep singing!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. It was fun, easy to follow, and simple instructions. Thank you🌷
You are so welcome!
This is the first video of yours that I have seen. Love it!❤. I love the way you teach and your voice is so calm and supportive. I’m looking forward to watching your other videos.
Thank you so much!
I’m 73 and 3/4 😂 🪡🧵😊
I would use this bag for EVERYTHING! Groceries, beach bag, GIFTS! Like the bag is the gift and put a six pac k of Coca Cola in it, etc!
I added snaps to mine!! Love this tutorial thank you so much ❤😊
You hav a pleasant way talking about your project. I was so happy with the bottom and learning how to box the corners. Can’t wait to try it! Will be making and giving these for various celebrations! Thanks for such a clear and precise tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for showing this! I couldn’t be happier!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this tutorial. How cute and your instructions are simple and clear and so easy to follow whether you are new to sewing or not. Thank you!
I can't wait to go to Dollar Tree and hope they have these cute patterns!
You are so welcome!
You are amazing ! I have only just 'discovered ' you this morning. You are absolutely fantastic in personality and instruction. I love just listening to you and NOT some annoying music in the background.
I can not find ANY negativity in your demeanor or instructions.Thank you ... I am now a devoted subscriber.
PS: You are also stunningly beautiful !
Wow, thank you!
Loved every single minute of this video. I like the pace of this video much better than a quick reel, so thank you for doing it. I actually bought a couple of these bee drying mats because of your reel on Instagram. I’m off to make my very own market bag. 🥰
I would so use that as a purse with a snap for closer. Love it!
Chelsea, Ive made two of these bags. When I go to Dollar tree and see new mats it’s like an addiction gots make another. So much fun with you. I’m new to sewing so your video was very nice to follow. Not into zippers yet they scare me. I would love to have more sew easy video’s to follow without zippers. I’ve been following for a little while now. Thank you so much and bring on some more
You are so welcome!!
Thank you so much for being you. Thank you for helping step out of my comfort zone. Not sure how to show you my finishes bag. But I'm so proud of it! Thank you Thank you thankyou
Shesewsseams@gmail.com ❤️❤️
You are a breath of fresh air….
Oh ya someone who explained what "nesting" means, Thank you so much! Have you thought about doing quilt lines or even pockets on your dish drying mat tote? I bet it would look so cute. 🥰😍🤩
Great idea!
What a wonderful teacher you are! Great tutorial!
Thank you so much!
I am a first time watcher and I really enjoyed this video. I’m a medium level sewer, and have made bags before, but love this idea! I really enjoyed this style of video where you explain and show everything.
I watched this right after you posted it and finally got to the 💲store today....I will be sewing up some bags tomorrow! Great video, very clever! Thanks...btw my grandmom bought me a Kenmore in 1979....I was 11 y.o. and not fully appreciative of this Wonderful gift...it basically sat for 40 years moving with me from house to house until I was brave enough to learn. I wish my grandmom knew how much I love sewing now! I make all my own clothes and tons of other goodies thanks to youtubers like you!
