    11 year restoration paid off. What a gem! Split windows are my favorite

    For an absolute no thrills stripped down car. The interior albeit basic is nicer than many of the later variations & spec levels. For starters the upholstery fabric looks so much nicer than the black vinyl seats of 70's era Beetles. Interesting that the final Beetles made in Mexico reverted back to being almost free of chrome trim just like these early models.

    There are two additional changes during the 1953 VW Beetle model year. They are: 1). Locking buttons are added to glass vent windows, and 2). One piece oval piece rear window replaced two piece split windows.

    It is beautiful, I’m working slowly towards getting a bug, however having such and old like worth money beetle would be nice I actually just want a reliable one in really good shape, I’m looking to maintain not rebuild, restore or what have you, but just I fan pretty reliable vw beetle classic

    I love it. It's kind of a Doo Dooey color tho. You didn't say anything about the engine. I'm guessing it has the all mighty 25hp. Grandpa's would go about maybe 60mph. His bug was a 53. The dash was different. Seeing this brings back fun memories.

      Withn the exception of the license plates. Wet Germany had difference license plates in the year the car was built. Those on the car were introduced in 1956 and show a car registered to the city of Bonn for official use only. Private cars had one or two letters following the BN (for Bonn).

    I think in 1949 and 50, the Standard is all that was available. Not sure about 51.

    Why don't you show the engine? Is it an original? I'm sure people would be very interested.

    No, the Bonn license plates are not period correct. In 1952 Germany still had occupation plates which had white letters on black plates.

    • @thomasfedderke1617
      @thomasfedderke1617 Před 3 lety

      That's right! And the "BN - 5090" plate is not an ordinary one, it shows that the car is run by a public authority, like for instance the administration of the city Bonn. Regular plates carry one or two letters in front of the numerics like "BN - JK 5090".

    Standard heißt, unsynchronisiertes Getriebe, Seilzugbremsen und kein Original Radio. Wer beraucht das?
