For an absolute no thrills stripped down car. The interior albeit basic is nicer than many of the later variations & spec levels. For starters the upholstery fabric looks so much nicer than the black vinyl seats of 70's era Beetles. Interesting that the final Beetles made in Mexico reverted back to being almost free of chrome trim just like these early models.
I think in 1949 and 50, the Standard is all that was available. Not sure about 51.
Schön!👍
Perfect wish I had one!!
Is the rubber trim between the body and fenders black or body colored. Very few have the body colored which is correct. it looked like this had that.
I purchased a 1954 VW Karmin cabriolet in 1967. It had only 13,000 miles on it. He had a 30 hp engine that was put in when it was brand new. Drove it every day and then No trouble finding parts. I would love to have that wonderful little car back again.
I love it. It's kind of a Doo Dooey color tho. You didn't say anything about the engine. I'm guessing it has the all mighty 25hp. Grandpa's would go about maybe 60mph. His bug was a 53. The dash was different. Seeing this brings back fun memories.
Sorry, but the license pllates are Not time Period correct. They we're presented in March 1956. The City ( Here BN för Bonn) plus four Numbers were only given Out for official Cars owned by the City or Others official institutions and never for civilians!
The paint of the wheels bumpers and the red stripes may be quit originality to the car.🤦♂️🤷♂️
NO engine display?
1966 battle witn sunroof sll original
It is beautiful, I’m working slowly towards getting a bug, however having such and old like worth money beetle would be nice I actually just want a reliable one in really good shape, I’m looking to maintain not rebuild, restore or what have you, but just I fan pretty reliable vw beetle classic
Der Benzinhahn zeigt nach rechts, das ist die Stellung Reserve. Es ist Zeit zu tanken.
Excelente video!
This Bug is such a nice piece of german automotive history. Thank's for the film🙏👍
Standard heißt, unsynchronisiertes Getriebe, Seilzugbremsen und kein Original Radio. Wer beraucht das?
No, the Bonn license plates are not period correct. In 1952 Germany still had occupation plates which had white letters on black plates.
That's right! And the "BN - 5090" plate is not an ordinary one, it shows that the car is run by a public authority, like for instance the administration of the city Bonn. Regular plates carry one or two letters in front of the numerics like "BN - JK 5090".
Great video! This is cool too: blog.heritagepartscentre.com/blog/2018/02/16/hebmuller-celebrates-its-official-retirement/
I would pay 100k dolars for this car
Why don't you show the engine? Is it an original? I'm sure people would be very interested.
Tube radio no doubt sounds gorgeous.
Beautiful Bug but the color is terrible. The letters "Ka" are missing on the flower vase. It is called "Kaiserslautern".
Perfection.
Withn the exception of the license plates. Wet Germany had difference license plates in the year the car was built. Those on the car were introduced in 1956 and show a car registered to the city of Bonn for official use only. Private cars had one or two letters following the BN (for Bonn).
11 year restoration paid off. What a gem! Split windows are my favorite
Actuleebe! Derfreben VW isur very dac coolae

You know your Beetle history well. Thank you for sharing, well done! 👍✌
Absolute great Car! I had many years ago a '53, droved it for long time. A practical Tip from me: Don't use Bosch Plugs, this engine runs only very good with CHAMPION L88A Sparkplugs and 11mm Pre-ignition from the middle-Mark.
The flowers are distracting.
Gratulation zum schönen Standard ! Sind auch bei uns in Europa sehr sehr selten .
