- Go for a ride in a vintage 1953 VW bug. Zwitter. The 25hp engine blew up last year. I will fix it. But for now I will run a 40hp 1200 . The car is fun to drive now.

GREEN with envy!!! I had a '68 beige Beetle...LOVED IT! ...miss it sometimes
That sound exquisite for a beetle of that age. Those exhaust pipes Rock. I absolutely LOVE the sound of this VW.
I had a 1949 beetle when young Wish i had it now 🤔😣
Everything about that old bug is just great sounds like new thank you very much I enjoyed the trip very much
Very cool. Thanks for the ride!
Nice Split.Good to see it running.
Wonderful bug. So nice. Congradulations.
Awesome car. Very nice. Not the original engine.
Wow best sounding bug 👍 Had many ovals and later bugs and buses. Pickup trucks too. But never a split or ghia . Thanks for the ride I really enjoyed it 🙏

That was fun! It sounds like the plug wires sort of messed with the camera audio.
My dream puff
Awesome. I'm trying to save up for a clean unit. I have some friends in Mexico and they say bugs are easy to find there. Trying to research how I can import one. Don't want it too new or too old. 60's is fine :) Your car is awesome btw and happy to meet another fellow Canadian :)
Nice ride..
Spectacular 😍
It could be a later 1952 VW Beetle painted in blue. It is the original color, but not the original paint. Several changes included: Glass vent windows are added, replacing the vent flaps on front quarter panels, two taillights are added on rear fenders, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears are synchronized, redesigned dashboard, and turn signal lever is moved to the left side of steering column. Also, license plate light on rear (engine) deck is no longer displayed a taillight.
I noticed that the reserve tap is turned over to the left instead of pointing straight up. That means it's off.
My last VW was a '57 sunroof, last year of the ovals.
This must be an early production 53 as after March they changed to the less attractive oval window.
Thanks!
Hermoso auto.
Are these third/ extra rear light mandatory in Canada ? I have never seen them in Europe. Looks a bit odd IMO. Besides that a very lovely Bug.
That drive belt is way loose.
If this is an early 53, then its a split. The ovals came later that year but they had the same dash.
I think the term "Zwitter bug" he used defines those cars built with the new dash normally found in oval window bugs but still using the split rear window. During this era VW wasn't so much into model years when they decided to make a production change as soon as the old parts ran out they switched. Farm equipment manufacturers did similar things as we had a John Deere Model "A" tractor that had both early and late features so we know it was made during a 6 week period when they made tractors with the new style transmission cover and shifter but still had the magneto ignition.
Awesome. What kind of exhaust is that? Very nice.
Lindo fusquinha.
Last split Windows beetle: 09.02.1953 (with new ovali dash!)First Oval beetle: 10.02.1953All correct!
What’s the brakes like are they dependable if you had to stop fast
¿El modelo del 53 no tenia la luneta oval..? Creo que ese modelo es anterior.
My dream is a 1965 Bug
My first car was a 65 bug. 40 hp
64 looks better with the smaller windows
Um clássico.
The same, the wippers? Is this original? Is your choise. Look at mine VW 60% in an oxide state
wipers are a little bit newer arms
how did those semiphores work, were they electric or mechanical?
electric
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe..

Erasmo Hainocz de São Mateus do Sul Pr.eu aprendi dirigir en um Fusca 1966 cor Verde Amazona.gosto muito de fusca
Sounds like 250 hp.
Es un zuinter
Beautiful bug but you tubers really need to keep your license plates out of these vids. Even if you are Canuck...tons of wackos on here just looking to find and lift cars.
😐 incorrect dash, popes nose bumpers steering wheel.. nice looking bug but it's no split that my friend is an oval bug just sayin
+Alberto Ramirez its a Zwitter split, 50% oval, last year of the split.
Actually, your statement isn't correct, it's called a Zwitter Beetle, these VW's were the dead last of the "Split-Windows" that were manufactured in late 1952. They featured the "Oval-Window's" dash and a majority of the interior bits you'd find on one, including the steering wheel (depending on which model trim you purchased at the time). But they still featured the "Split-Window's" 25 hp 1131cc air-cooled "boxer" 4-cylinder engine, although this car has a "heart transplant" of what is most likely a early to mid 60s VW 1200cc 40 hp engine and an aftermarket exhaust. Despite all this, this is a beautiful Zwitter Bug and even though it isn't fully correct, he just wanted a little bit of variety in his. Plus, a 25 hp VW engine could never get this car up to speed on the freeway, but an engine like this could much easier, though a 1641cc or 1776cc engine (aftermarket) could cruise this car comfortably down the road, maybe even passing other cars in the process ;)
they had the split in 53, but with the oval dash. just google it. or check out pictures, 53 volkswagen bug, you will see like half ovals half splits.
+Chandler Burns in order to be considered a split it just has to have the factory bar down the center of the rear window. It was made this way so the glass used could be flat, (cheaper) Regardless of the details from year to year, it is still called a split window. so in 53 you will see ovals, and splits, the last year, that is seen here as parts you would see on a oval.
+Alberto Ramirez You are very wrong. Man just go into thesamba and check ZWITTER bugs.
That exhaust sounds truly awful. Why the American obsession with "modifying" everything? It's no longer an original sounding 1953 Beetle any more. Real shame. Otherwise, nice classic car.
