The trophy presentation is naff too. Just about every team sport properly has the captain and/or coach receiving and lifting the trophy. But the Superbowl has the billionaire club owner receiving the trophy and lifting it. Ego galore.

    • @user-rx9tf1yd3x
      @user-rx9tf1yd3x Před 3 měsíci

That is an American sports thing. NBA and MLB follow the same as NFL where the owner lifts the trophy. The American tradition of handing trophies to club owners dates to the 1800s.
Only NHL is different because owners don't want to be on the ice I guess.

How about this scenario. Your team has had a cracking first half and is 2-0 up. All the momentum is with them. They then have to wait around for an hour while some puffed up prima donna plays a concert. The players go off the boil and come back out and lose 3-2 and your star player suffers a hamstring injury because of the delay and is unavailable for a crucial game the following week. It is stupid.

    • @QuanDanOfficial

The mentality of the two games is very different; the mindset of the two nations is very different.
All the NFL games take about 4 hours to complete!
How Long Is a Football Game?
While reports on this vary depending on the sample size, the average NFL game reportedly takes 3 hours and 12 minutes to complete. In contrast, the average time for a college football game is 3 hours and 24 minutes.
One important note - the average Super Bowl broadcast over the past 20 years has been about three-and-a-half hours. This includes the halftime show, significantly longer than a regular season or playoff game.
How Long, on Average, Is the Halftime of a Football Game?
The length of halftime also varies between the professional and college game. The average halftime in the NFL lasts 12 minutes, while that extends to 20 minutes in college football. That extra time at the half accounts for a significant portion of why a college game lasts 12 minutes longer than an NFL game.
The exception for halftime is the Super Bowl, where the halftime is significantly longer at around 20-30 minutes.
How Much Live Action Is There Throughout an NFL Game?
The numbers on how much live action takes place during an NFL game varies, but it is generally between 15 and 20 minutes, with 18 viewed as the average. Those 18 minutes are reasonably loaded with action, seeing well over 100 plays. This average has increased, with the Wall Street Journal reporting an average time of just 11 minutes in 2010.
Of the major sports, football has the least active time. Baseball is the closest at just over 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the NBA, NHL, and English Premier League have over 45 minutes of average game time.
On average, around 25% of the NFL broadcast is commercials. In three hours, that adds up to many commercials in a 50-ish-minute period. Around 15-25 commercials per quarter add up to as many as 100+ commercials in total during a football game!
If Carlsberg did adverts, they would do the helmet and shoulder pad egg chasers!

I hate in US this thing they have around celebrities.
We hear more about who was there and the half time show.
Same with the NBA. It's another place for them to show themselfs.
Here we get a 5 seconds shot on someone, an ex player or something, we cheer and that's it, back to the game.
I couldn't care less that Lebron James, Taylor Swift, Timothee Chalamet or Ice Spice are here.
Beside, we got Kim Kardashian and we lost so nope

The problem of the once-a-year brigade is that they claim to love it but I guarantee if you scratch the surface you'll quickly realise that they don't love the sport they love the occasion. Much like someone only watching the Champions League final. Cringy.

    I'm with Darren on this.
I love NFL, I understand the dislike of the stop/start but it's a spectacle.
But I have to say, I don't think it will ever become a global sport.

    It's a nonsenses.

Tbf the size of the event does make the game a 2nd thought but it does bring in every casual follower & give them a reason to be involved, families have events at home with traditions to watch the game whether fans or people wanting to see the half time show / see the celebs ! Somewhat does feel like selling your soul but unfortunately brings lots of money so team owners are happy - could be something to learn for PL in finding a way to include more casuals rather than just die hard supporters (if money is the aim)

We don't need the pomp, because the _sport_ _itself_ is good enough.
