That was an amazing area before they forced all the old shacks to be removed. Sadly I wasn't that much into photography back then and hardly got any photos of the shacks. Some were amazing creations and we even saw some that were double storey. Still a lovely spot when the crowds all go home :)
It really was busy when you were there, we must have picked a good window. We had a grandfather and his grand children visit to say that he had a shack right where we camped, then explained that the council realised they could make money from campers from the area and pulled the shack down. The gentleman thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about the good old days.
Brilliant vid matt and unfortunately people are starting to not care about history anymore the attitude needs to change and start preserving our history like you said once it’s gone your not getting it back
On the 3rd of May we camped near the bunkers and the wife and I managed to clean up all the bottles and can in that bunkers that had the most mess. You forgot to film the old toilet down below. I think its original
This vid gave me some ideas/inspiration on short trip to Kalbarri. We stayed here and it was bloody busy. The bunkers were good to visit as well but they certainly are trashed. Sunsets aren’t too shabby either 🍻
Trashed is an understatement, people would drive up and camp out of them and unfortunately do the wrong thing and leave glass an rubbish everywhere like you've shown 🤬 its a real shame. They could be so beautiful
Great video Matt, I agree about the sunrise, always been an early riser, been trying for 35 year's to get my misso to do the same but to no avail, if I miss a sunrise I feel like I've wasted part of the day, keep up the great work 😀
You sound just like myself with Kelly mate 🤣 she reckons she’s gonna get up to see it rise this weekend with me - we will see about that 😂 thanks for the comment, appreciate it!
What a stunning sunrise mate. Shame to see those bunkers trashed like that, we have some near me too (Bunkers To The Coast video) and while they are covered in graffiti they haven't been trashed that badly. It sure would be nice to see smething done to preserve the history without locking them up.
@WESTRALIAN OFFROAD sadly wouldn't be at all surprised mate. I'm shocked the ones here are still open but you are not meant to be driving anywhere near them yet people do
I agree that its disgraceful that they allow these locations to be trashed.. why cant they be maintained.. all these sites should be looked after, so sad that people just dont care
Haha...4hrs...yeah same here, NOR, but thats coz my 42 is a short gear tractor...lol...yeah the closure of those tracks out the radar area was late and it seems the glass has moved from the open area at the beach to the huts. Shame it was never really looked after. Some cool paint on the skins though. Soak it up...Safe travels.
Yep those feels 😂 yeah I did notice that too mate! It’s just moved the problem campers elsewhere. Still great to see and soak up though! Thanks for the comment mate!
Was a great place to grow up before they bulldozed the shacks and built a road in so that city slickers could pay to camp there. The wonders of tourism
We do most of our trips together without cameras. I pick trips to do solo in spots she doesn’t mind not coming to or where we’ve already been mostly. I may get the camera out on the next one we have coming up however 🤓
Such a shame people have no respect anymore and that they actually drive in there to do this damage. They put up signs to stop you driving in there yet do nothing to stop the vandalism of our history. I live in Victoria and I just don’t understand peoples thought process anymore. More to the point why do this damage.

It would’ve been a sight to see two story shacks out there! It is a great spot nonetheless.

Yeah it’s becoming less and less appreciated I think mate. It’s a shame.
Awesome mate, another great video
Thanks Shad, hope you’re well mate!
@@westralianoffroad cheers mate 👍🤠
oh the pinnacles! I love that location.. was there a few years back myself
Awesome sight to see!
Was only thinking about u today 😂and there u are good one mate enjoyed your vids sad about our history going to sht
Brilliant 😁
Yeah it’s a proper shame mate.
Nice little getaway mate.
Isn’t good to see the radar station destroyed like that hey. That shits me ( Brad ) so much hey.
Thanks for sharing mate 🤙
There’s no getting them back once they’re gone. It’ll be a real shame!
I still look forward to the time where i see Gus and yourself out and about.. even locally :)
You will do in a few weeks time 😅
Awesome Material Bro ! Respect for you 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Appreciate it mate! Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Was just saying to the missus that your logo after the intro would be a great label on a wine bottle
Great vid matty. Laid back and easy going. Just what i expected and did not disappoint. Well done
Thanks Pete that really means a lot. I appreciate it. Thanks so much for stopping by and watching!
On the 3rd of May we camped near the bunkers and the wife and I managed to clean up all the bottles and can in that bunkers that had the most mess. You forgot to film the old toilet down below. I think its original
Onya mate that’s great! That would’ve been an absolute mission!
Unfortunately there is still rubbish in that bunker, on my next trip i will clear it out as much as i can
Used to be our go to camp spot 2016-2019, covids done it imo, everyone camped on top of eachother. Havent been back in a couple years now. 😮
Yeah Covid has done a number on it without doubt!
Just found your channel, am impressed by your videogralhy and the way you tell it like it is.
Thank you mate. Appreciate it.
Great spot, but just got so busy up there in the past few years...
100% agree mate!
Nice work mate
Thanks mate!
Love this episode Matt! Thanks :)
Legend!
The best thing camping on the cold weather is fire 😊
Try to avoid weekend camping if you want peace and quiet. Thanks for sharing, Matt 😊
I agree Nora! 😁
Great vid glad I discovered this channel . Guy seems to genuinely talk to you in a human way lol and not like one big advertisement 👍
This vid gave me some ideas/inspiration on short trip to Kalbarri. We stayed here and it was bloody busy. The bunkers were good to visit as well but they certainly are trashed. Sunsets aren’t too shabby either 🍻
Another brilliant video Matt!
I needed this on my last night shift at work!
Really sad to see the bunkers in that state!
Thanks for watching mate!
Sad to see the war bunkers un that condition, first of your vids ive seen, thanks
Thanks for watching and for the comment mate. I appreciate it.
Another informative video. Just wanted to ask if the jenga style firewood stack was practiced, it looked amazing 👍
I stack it like that every time 🤠
Trashed is an understatement, people would drive up and camp out of them and unfortunately do the wrong thing and leave glass an rubbish everywhere like you've shown 🤬 its a real shame. They could be so beautiful
Yeah mate it was one of those areas that attracted the sort that want to blow of steam and get a bit loose due to its location unfortunately.
Brilliant episode brother!!!!
Thanks mate appreciate it! Hope you’re well!
Love how you can find a sense of solitude while surrounded by other campers 👍
Nice video, there’s a couple of radar bunkers in yanchep national park they did a mural on for defence personnel
I will have to check them out - thanks mate!
As always mate informative 👍👍👍👍from the west 🇦🇺
Thanks for watching mate!
Appreciate your genuineness.
Well done.🙏👍
Great video mate 🙂🍻
Thanks mate!
Bugga I’ll be there in weekend just missed a beer 🍻 😂
Sandy Cape.. the only camp site in WA.. apparently :P
🤣
Great video thanks again ,
I know every man and his dog 8d there but I still love it.
Shame people don't look after the bunkers
Love it mate! Also grabbed ya idea of tying the guy ropes off on the awning. Genius, I’ve been packing those up like a lunatic for years
Too right mate! Beats tying/un-tying the bloody things every time 🤣
Awesome video mate👍
oh you bastard! haha showing me that damn good bacon and egg roll.. Im hungry now!
I do it to myself every time!
@@westralianoffroad Nothing beats the own made one thats for sure!
Fantastic video as allways full of good history can I as what brand of drop down table you have on the rear door and we’re to get one from thanks 👍🤙
Thank you mate, a appreciate that very much.
The table is from Patrol Australia. You can find them on Instagram and online.

Great video and thank you for the history lesson. Safe travels mate 👍🏼
Such a shame to see the bunkers in that state. It looks like an amazing spot that’s for sure… and the pinnacles. 👌

I’d say they will be assessed at some point, deemed dangerous and just fenced at some point in the future mate.
@WESTRALIAN OFFROAD sadly wouldn't be at all surprised mate. I'm shocked the ones here are still open but you are not meant to be driving anywhere near them yet people do
Awsome
Thanks for watching mate.
best bit was watching you look around like u there by uself being all photogenic. needs more dragons
I almost did have it to myself the first night haha.
Awesome stuff. I was wondering where you got your fire pit / cooking stove?
That’s from Go Camping in Balcatta mate, here in Perth.
I agree that its disgraceful that they allow these locations to be trashed.. why cant they be maintained.. all these sites should be looked after, so sad that people just dont care
The appreciation for our history, be it the good and the bad, is eroding away mate!
Haha...4hrs...yeah same here, NOR, but thats coz my 42 is a short gear tractor...lol...yeah the closure of those tracks out the radar area was late and it seems the glass has moved from the open area at the beach to the huts. lol! 17:45 Keen to go to this point of interest.. Rubbish bin! had to have a giggle
Was a great place to grow up before they bulldozed the shacks and built a road in so that city slickers could pay to camp there. The wonders of tourism
I totally understand your sentiment mate.
This is why i have no great interest in going to Sandy cape.. far too busy for my liking.. no peace and quiet
There's another couple at Yanchep
I’ve heard mate! I’ll have to check them out.
Does Kelly join you on any of these trips?
We do most of our trips together without cameras. I pick trips to do solo in spots she doesn’t mind not coming to or where we’ve already been mostly. I may get the camera out on the next one we have coming up however 🤓

I wonder what these vandals would do if you followed them home and trashed their place.
Too right mate. It’s a great question.
Worst thing is. Ya try and capture the beauty of em and the surroundings and all ya can see is the dog shit graffiti on em.
Very true mate - I’d loved to have seen them clean and untouched.
It's a shame about the graffiti, ay😢
wow! cool! very njce o congrats on your trip! go the Patrol! 🏞️🛻🤙📹😎
