this channel fills that void as a musician that has no musician friends to nerd out with
Yesss soooo muchhhh
I’m not as smart as they are but I definitely agree!
you’re speaking way too fucking loud rn I need you to shhh
Check Rick Beato.
me!
It’s NOT A CGI snake. Billie doesn’t use CGI and all her videos are somewhat dangerous. It’s her thing.
She has used CGI, but not when its unnecessary. She tries to do as much as humanly possible with real things like a real snake, real locations and practical effects
This snake is 100% CGI when it's wrapped around her tho. When you know where to look, it's pretty clear : the shadows give it away, as well as the movements of the snake in comparison with her own movements. But when the snake is just laying on her knees, it looks real.
@@vinzdorier No, not CGI 100%, you can check out pictures of her holding the snake
@@lil4817 CGI 100% in some shots, especially the one when it's around her neck. And yes the snake is real in other shots, like at the beginning. I expect that they used footage of the real snake to create the CGI shots and make it look more real, but the shadows don't lie.
@@vinzdorierand you think that THEY would’ve overlooked that. Nothing is CGI dude. It’s called choice. There’s proof. Google is free
Not a musician but I fucking love watching people talking about their passion!!!! And you guys are helping me hear things I didn't hear before lol. Awesome series, can't wait for more!
Hah that's exactly my thought too
Easily my favorite reactions/analysis. Listening to you guys helps me understand Billie and Finneas's success at the grammies when music pros are really impressed by the intricacies and subtleties these super sibs put into their productions. I love what they do, and I love better understanding why.
One thing I really really appreciate here is that we can hear the songs with high-quality audio too! Panning and stuff is just never commented on because reactors hardly ever prioritise it when they're uploading their videos.
I'm glad you appreciate the audio mix, we spend a lot of time making the episode sound good.
Aurora next? She was inspiration for Eilish to start her music career after all. This Norwegian prodigy is just magical creature in every way possible.
Aurora next I can only support!
Agree and agree again.
Strong recommend. She's a fantastic artist and person.
Aurora's soundscapes are just incredible, that or Lorde's Melodrama!!
OMG YESS please do A Different Kind of Human by Aurora!!!
Great reaction, and the 1st I've seen, that illuminates why Billie and Finneas are so highly regarded in the industry. The subtle brilliance of Finneas' production combined with the utter beauty of Billie's voice, dear God, her voice... I have 6 decades on this planet and they are the greatest talents I've ever encountered.
Im 40 and I LOVE her voice and her charisma and attitude in her voice and her personality… It’s like she is a modern Marylin Monroe character.. i don’t even know how explain it. She is amazing and her brother too!!
For me the youngest and most complete talented artists of this century. Hands down, they do interesting music. I can’t wait to see their works in the future.. if they are so creative and great at this age.
great video, great reactions !
Would a full album listen to Happier Than Ever be too much? I'm totally digging the new Billie/Finneas vibe and I love learning about the process and skills from you all!
I want this as well! I want to know ALL OF THE NERDY MUSIC DETAILS!! I don’t just want it, after having seen this video I need it. I want to understand how and why Billie’s music does to us what it does. I understand lyrically because that’s my forte but musically I need more information. I need it
This
Yes! I wanted this video to be 10 times as long. There's so many other great songs on the album for them to talk about.
Check out the 2-part interview with Finneas at Pensado's Place. There's also one with Rob Kinelski, the guy on the stage with them at the Grammys, who did the final mix.
I need a review of the single Happier Than Ever, Bury a Friend, and maybe some of the older stuff (All the good girls go to hell, Everything I wanted, Watch, Copy cat).
Your power is the most underrated song of the year. Great analysis!
the QUALITYYYYY of these videos. WOWZA.
Thank you for the Finneas recognition in his production! You guys should definitely react to "Happier than ever" the one track. It's definitely one I'm DYING for you guys to react to!! Keep up the great work !
Watching Professionals talk professionally, like deep in the weeds of the stuff they are passionate about, aces. Always Aces.
A weird idea to look into, and often doesn't escape it's own little world, is the world of video game music. Especially in modern gameplay where videogame music has evolved FAR beyond just midi sounds.
Personal recommendation, the work of Masayoshi Soken on Final Fantasy XIV.
I love how you've all got very specific expertise to make unique comments, but enough of a shared experience to understand each other. So good
Oh my. Instant subscribe. Cool to see this new show I didn’t know I was waiting for. Jack I’ve been a fan since 2007 and surely will be for the next 14 years 😎
Great to see you here Pvnova! I agree this is an instant subscribe!
Oh that's so cool to see you there, I am loving your work PV as I am loving Jack's. Thank you to both of you for helping me to better understand and then loving even more music.
Nice to see you here PV, I've been following your channel since your first videos :)
Mario & Jack thank you for including and answering my question, I’m super excited that pop music is taking this little turn for a bit :)
Rick thanks so much for taking the time to record a question. Also, your studio setup is 🔥
"I'd like to take my python into your canyon" sounds like a tinder pick-up line
The 2nd song, the melancholy, the guitars, the sweeping vocals, reminds me quite of an old Smiths song, "I won't share you." They're both similarly haunting, to me.
Dannielle NAILS that comparison to "Luka"!
I would never have made the connected, but it's really true - I stumbled over Vega's acapella of Tom's diner czcams.com/video/DkYPge6ZKSQ/video.html a few days ago and going back to relisten it becomes even clearer.
Also I heard entire new album is Incredible it’s so amazing and when she was asked what her influences were to writing it she said it was so easy it basically wrote it self they were really just feeling the vibe it was very 1920s lounge singer type era with Her unique twist to it and a little bit of stuff you’ve never heard her day before which is 100% accurate
Well, I know that the load of spiders on her MV "you should see me in a crown" were not CGI. In particular, the one coming out of her mouth was her pet tarantula. That was real too.
Billie doesn't much like CGI, and now she directs the music videos herself, so it's most likely the snake was just an unoffensive species, but unashamedly real.
I loved this!! I could listen to you talk about EVERY one of Billie's songs - they are that interesting and good.
I got to 12 minutes and then couldn't believe my luck that there were still 10 minutes left to watch
guys this series is fuckn AWESOME! as an amateur producer, these little things you guys talk about are really inspiring.
I absolutely love this series, Jack. I’m not a musician myself, but I’ve always loved learning about how and why music *works*. Like, what makes something good? It’s part of the reason I was so drawn to Pandora-it helped me understand more about my taste and music preferences. Also, there’s just something so cool about seeing you folks in your element!
Now that the album is out I'm SO intrigued about your reactions to Happier Than Ever (song).
For me it was an intense and emotional experience... like when I listened Bohemian Rhapsody or Welcome to the Black Parade for the first time :B It's like my body can not handle it so I cry-sob-shiver xD
It's the sign of good music when you really feel it.
This needs to be a weekly podcast, and at least three times as long as it is now.
Umm this is so fun and where have I been my entire life that i didn't know THIS was a THING?!!!!
I remember Luka! Wow. Crazy how there’s so many songs we forget, but a couple of notes and it comes right back.
I am an electrical/computer engineer by trade and I love being able to nerd out with you on the design and implementation of music... If I could have a second life, I would want to be Finneas... He has such an amazing mind!!!
Regarding the kick drum on Lost Cause: Each kick seems to start in the right ear and pan to the left, as if they're blowing straight thru your head. It's an awesome effect. Thanks posting some great reactions.
New favorite series on CZcams, hands down. Such amazing insight that a normal reaction doesn't provide.
I was so disappointed to find out this is you guys' only second video. I want more!!
When I first heard Billie Eilish, I thought "whatever, another pop star" but after seeing/hearing her on NPR's Tiny Desk with her bro, other behind the scenes things, and their production stuff, finding out it's layers of vocals instead of FX, and really concentrating on her mastery of her voice and how much control it takes to sing that softly with accuracy and mood...I'm a fan. She special special. (yes, special squared, a.k.a. special, raised to the power of special)
if billy ever did a cover of portishead, I would be down with that. in my mind, that would work out
I believe she should team up with her obvious influence Sara Lov and the band she was in called Devics. Billie just needs a bowl cut to complete the transformation.
I'm selfish... just want to hear that.
Please PLEASE do a whole album reaction. I promise you it's incredibly well done and worth your time! (Long time Pomplamoose fan and musician/private teacher.) I value these opinions! Thanks for this awesome channel!
This is great! I just love professionals geeking out about their passion, and such a lovely bunch of geeks too!!!
This is the show we all need to keep faith in music !!! This is exactly how you can understand how great music is done !!!
Keep going guys ! I'll promote your work in France !
Man the guitar production on this is really interesting too. Sounds like 2 different acoustic tracks panned opposite of each other, with some harmony stuff going on. But I’d swear that when the percussion kicks in, part of it is the sound of palm muted chords on an acoustic as a kind of kick drum sound. Wild shit.
They're also very out of time with each other. But purposefully so. I'm guessing he doubled it fairly tightly but then added a delay to one of the guitars. They don't sound accidentally out of time in the way they would if you just played it sloppily.
That’s the best description I’ve heard of her - she’s an ASMR singer.
This was so awesome! I'm also sure Finneas would really enjoy you guys being an amazed Sherlock Holmes Team. You guys rock and I love this new format! Much love 🤗
Billie Eilish is a Super human she is in our hearts and literally no one can compete her in personality savageness and voice vocals
Osim! This was so much fun. Thank you all. :)
For me, whose only involvement in music has been listening to and loving it... the vid was also extremely beneficial in that it will probably enable a deeper/higher level of enjoyment. This channel is a brilliant idea.
Please consider reviewing Adore by Prince, which is one of my all time favourite songs, and probably my favourite ever vocal performance... so would so love to appreciate the PMR analysis?
I love your responses and breakdown of these songs. I started listening to Billie and then ventured off into Finneas’ solo productions. OMG! He is a master of sound and I love his dance numbers in his videos. So good! He does a duet with a singer named Ashe, so I ventured into her songs, too. She’s got some crazy good stuff, as well. You all probably know about them already, but thought I’d mention them just in case you don’t.
You guys are rad.. your content is rad, keep being rad and doing rad things!
I'm loving these videos, even though I was hopping you would react to the song Happier Than Ever. It blew my mind!
I really like your work with Scary Pockets but, when I came to check this channel, my first reaction was... "ugh, 20+ minutes? That's a bit too much for me to sub" - 1 hour later I already binged the 2 first episodes and have the notification bell on for whenever the 3rd one lands. Great job dissecting a lot of the nuances (and 101's) of their musical production! Love it!
Finneas is great at prioritising the headphone listening experience and the sensory experience you can give when you dont TRY to recreate a wider soundscape and use the closeness you get from the vast majority of consumer headphones to your advantage.
agreed. billie's songs don't come through very well on the radio in my opinion, but god damn, they sound AMAZING in some good cans
What a fantastic breakdown from really observant & knowledgeable people. loved this!!!!!
I love it you’re talking about the spatial audio so they teamed up with special audio because of the way they do their production and Finneas did a whole interview about it that when you were talking about the cat being off-center he does that on purpose it’s two cakes and then they specifically do it so that it bounces back-and-forth so you’re surrounded in nothing but sounds and it has you just constantly wanting to look around and really submerge yourself in this song I love the way he described it as an internal invisible roller coaster that you never know where it’s going to take you
Loving how your mixing up the guests on the videos. The stuff about sidechaining was really interesting, not having any background in music I have found your videos super accesible and adding to my appreciation of songs that i haven't thought about that much before, particularly on the production and mixing side of things. Would love to hear your thoughts on the band twenty one pilots
Thank you for this amazing series. I really appreciate it. It's incredible to see or more hear what you guys are recognising in the tracks!!! I just love those small details
Love this new channel and these insights. Thank you.
This is so well done and covered I had to watch it twice, love hearing your thoughts guys, thanks for sharing!
love how you talk about the mixing and vocal production etc. you guys pay so much attention to detail, sooo cool
Waited for something like this for ages! Thank you so much for making it real! Love it!
This new channel is fantastic. I need more of this in my life.
love this new concept so much, geeking out on musicians stuff, amazing for musicians but also for music lovers in general
This is awesome! Great perspective. Love the edits to further explain techniques used in the production. Keep it up
i hope this channel blows up! as someone whose pretty amateur at production i feel like i learn so much from hearing you all dissect these tracks.
omg this is gold. Love the technical stuff, learning a lot!
Than you SP peeps! Much love and more power and looking forward to more eps.
So well done. I love the expertise relative to other react videos, and putting the clarifying examples into the video.
Great episode. Thanks Jack for creating this channel. I'm enjoying it very much.
The little explainers that go deep into the ideas that may not be normally accessible to average viewer are absolutely golden. These videos are such a delightful execution of the concept.
Bang-up awesome show, guys! You took 2 new greats and made them greater to my ears. Flutey fucking ducking sounds forever. Your teamed insights as singers/artists/producers/practiced listeners enhances everything worth knowing in these songs. Thank you for the illuminations!
Love this! So many inspiring ideas and comments. Thanks! 😀
I love this series. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing video! This is different, but absolutely amazing!
I love how you all nerd on music! I'm learning a lot. Keep it up!
tremendous as always. thank you

I want more of this please. Thank you.
Wow. This is amazing. So many eyeopening moments.
Holy shit. I love this channel. I did not know I needed videos like these but from a fellow musician, keep this shit going. Y’all deserve more followers.

oh man i need more of this... way more of THIS
Oh, I'm so down for this. More more more!
Love this channel, subbed watched all videos to date! Always loved music, learning new stuff and really helps me listen to things you normally miss and appreciate the song more!
That's great David! I'm glad you like it.
I... I need more of this.
Love that nerd out talk! :D Keep it commin!
This is so awesome. Thanks for starting this project :-)
Love, love, love this. I'll be here for all of it.
I wish there were more of these on the channel, it's so interesting to hear y'all deconstruct these things
This is sick. Wish I had this years sooner so I could get hooked when I was even younger. I would love to see you guys react to Silk Sonic, their second single has got me hooked on them! Also maybe do some Vulfpeck? Always love to hear about Jack’s production!
Wow this is absolutely amazing, I didn't know there's a channel with videos like these. Definitely subscribed!
This is so awesome and amazing content, having different kinds of professional musician do a reaction.
This teaches us more about the music world and how things work.
Really informative and amusing, also really fun.
This is the first time I saw them, I really like this! 👍.
Pls keep doing more!
Also pls do reactions from artist all over the globe.
You guys are going to blow up with this program. Instant subscribe. As a musician/ songwriter for 50 years I'm stealing tips every show. Thanks bubba.
It was useful and entertaining. Thank you.
Shes got a great vocal quality and signature sound, her best is "power", "everything i wanted", and "when the partys over" in my opinion, im not a fan at all of most of her other stuff directed towards a younger generation, but i really like those 3 songs of hers especially for testing vocals and depth on new stereo gear.
Ps-also i might add i think shed do great with a modern bossa nova/jazz type of track with some brass instruments, would be interesting.
I love this channel for the way you LISTEN to each song and explain what's goin' on; for your choice of muso(s) featured in each episode (I wasn't into Billie and Finneas and their oeuvre---until NOW!); and for your bare honesty and humility in the face of sometimes staggering talent. 🤍
As for the python shots: the only time you see the snake moving is in close-up (probably a stand-in dressed like Billie). And when the drone seems to be moving away in the outro, the 'snake' twisting around her neck, shoulders and torso like a scaly shawl, isn't moving: a realistic rubber prop, probably. Because you're correct: they wouldn't have risked their chanteuse's safety without an animal wrangler at the ready. Ah, the special effects inherent in livin' L.A. vida loca... 🙃
Omg. I loved this!!!!!!!
This is like the "Inside the Actors Studio" OF MUSIC!!!! I freaking love it!!!!
great video, loved it.
This makes me want to buy a Billie Eilish CD big time! lol She's so good 👌
Love this!
This is so interesting! Love the insight you have, especially as a Gen Z kid here. If you wanna react to more popular music, please react to Silk Sonic!! Leave the Door Open is a huge hit right now, and they just came out with Skate! Big fan of Scary Pockes and love this new channel!
Silk Sonic have such a groove!
Asking again for John Mayer's "Sob Rock" next time! This is awesome btw
What song from the album is your favourite?
@@DeadWaxShow Wild Blue is my undisputed favorite!
@@DeadWaxShow Last Train Home, which is the single that was previously released, and Shot In The Dark, the most streamed song in the album so far, are also great. I think those would also be good ones for you guys to react to!
I really liked the analysis you did on 'Your Power' when you talk about the use of subasses in frequencies below 200 Hz. It really gives support to his guitar, Billie's voice, and a seriousness almost indistinguishable from the rest of the music, not to mention the correlation with the title of the song.. Very well done, and a nice return for the composer!
But otherwise Billie bossa nova > all ;P Thank you for this moment of video!
A flute or maybe some other recording on an iPhone, like a breath in a beer bottle for example haha that can be the kind of sounds that are used ^^
This was SO good. I hope you guys gonna listen to her new album as well!:) can’t wait!
Oh wow. Subscribed! Absolutely obsessed with these videos!
Glad you like them!
