Other things that commonly fail on the 7.3 (and their fixes) include:
ICP sensor (will not allow engine to start if bad; replace only with OEM Motorcraft sensor)
Exhaust back pressure sensor tube (tends to plug up from soot and had a negative effect on performance and fuel economy; can either be cleaned and reused or replaced)
High pressure oil line fittings (connections from the HPOP to the oil passages in the heads for the injectors as part of the HEUI system. Seals in the fittings fail over time; fittings can be removed and detached from HPOLs and either have the inner seals replaced or the fittings themselves replaced)
Starter (Factory OEM starter goes bad fairly frequently; replace with larger, high-torque gear reduction starter and use threadlocker orange on the bolts. It holds as strong as TLR but can still be removed as easily as TLB)
Glow plug relay (or module in some cases. Factory GPR has a high failure rate; replace relay with larger “monster” relay/replace GPM)
Injector wiring harnesses (Numerous heat cycles degrade harnesses over time; replace valve cover gasket/wiring harness assemblies and cut and splice in new wiring harness connectors)
IDM (Underpowered from the factory on early’99 MYs; replace with updated IDM with higher wattage unit)
Turbo up-pipes (Pipes crack at the flanges causing exhaust leaks, loss of boost pressure, and low performance; replace with International bellowed up-pipes. IBUPs are used on other International vehicles with essentially the same engine, but labeled as the T-444E, and the bellows allow for expansion/contraction of the pipes thereby preventing cracked flanges.)
Various PTFE coated O-rings in the turbo pedestal and fuel bowl assembly (The ULSD fuel used today eats away at PTFE coatings, causing fuel and oil leaks; use laquer thinner to clean old, deteriorated PTFE coatings from o-ring sealing surfaces and replace all o-rings with blue flourosilicone o-rings)

If you buy a 7.3 powerstroke and it's unknown engine history just buy these 3 things only from ford a ipr valve a crank angle sensor and a icp sensor will fix 90% of running issues (diesel mechanic for over 20 years)👍

Intake plenums leak (upgrade to billet)
Passenger side head fuel line (metal bracket causes pinholes via rubbing/vibrations)
    Thermostat housing (upgrade to billet)
Oil pan dip stick tube leak (that one is fun to fix)
Replace all the critical sensors OEM (ICP, IPR, CPS, EBPS, CTS/EOTS)

I bought a 2003 F250 super duty had a flex plate crack and it sounded like the whole bottom of my engine was coming apart the mechanic told me that it was my rods and some other guy told me That was my torque converter. Thank God it was only a cracked flex plate. And a guy only charged me $600 to put a new one on after I paid For the flex plate. When I bought my truck in March 2022 It had already gotten a new Turbo And a new transmission with a shift kit. It has 37" tires and a 9" lift kit.

He bought it from a logger with the leak because he was going into the cord wood business with a buddy, and said buddy fell through, so he never looked. What should I look for?
