- My first blind playthrough of Star Trek Resurgence, slightly edited for length but a live let's play stepping into the shoes of Commander Jara Rydek and Crewman Carter Diaz on the USS Resolute, a Centaur Refit Class science vessel that has fallen on hard times.
We may have a problem aboard with Miranda while Jara attempts to infiltrait the mines and we uncover a Hotari plot to strand the USS Resolute.

I am enjoying that the game is showcasing noncommissioned personnel, not everyone on a starship is an officer.
Agreed. Through Diaz and Edsillar they showed that its the NCOs who actually run a starship, fix any mechanical issues, and do the fighting and dying whenever Starfleet runs into any hostile forces

That water feature deserves, nay, DEMANDS a formal log entry detailing the sheer majesty of....a water feature. can't make this stuff up, well, someone clearly did.
The name Resolute made me think something like this may be coming. HMS Resolute was an Arctic Explorer Ship that got stuck in ice and had to be abandoned. Now this Resolute is getting stuck in sone Subspace problem and can’t Warp.
Let's hope this one makes it out instead of becoming a frozen tomb.
Spock is MORE than experienced at stalling the Federation's busybodies while a human and crew does something reckless and ill advised. It's basically on his name tag.
The first time they showed Miranda on the shuttle headed back to the Resolute I noticed she looked dark around the eyes, like she didn't get enough sleep. Later, on the hangar deck the skin around her eyes looked red, like she was getting sick. She doesn't look that way in earlier scenes. I get the feeling she's been infected with something.
Bit of a late watcher but I made a joke that she's been replaced by some spy or alien and our non-enlisted character will get to say "I kissed that?" when revealed.
Now I just gotta watch the rest of the series.

OMG. I thought they had simply made the recordings for this game before Nimoy died, but I guess that just speaks to how damn good that actor is if he can nail Spock that well. I love Ethan pecks Spock, but it doesn't sound anything like Nimoy. This guy is dead on. mind you I am visually impaired and cannot see the screen, so forgive me if there are visual differences that should be obvious.
@@amandamatheny3675 I mean, visual differences would be there whether they'd gotten Nimoy or not, since it's not one of the oldschool live footage videogames. There is a pretty glaring one, more obvious with Spock, but everyone is affected. For some reason, when characters raise an eyebrow, they raise it from the inner brow instead of the outer. It's SO weird to me, lol.
This game has better writing than most Star Trek TV.
I actually love it. ive been looking forward to this episode all week like when i was a kid.
24:05 Funny how she mentions not wanting test something unknown around the warp core because it could explode when there are 100+ times when the engineering experiments are done there in the normal shows. Seems like some meta-humor.
Yeah, that whole scene where Edsilar wants to test the crystal in Engineering didn't seem right. An engineer isn't going to put their pride and joy (the warp core in this case) at risk to play with a new toy. If they're going to do something risky to the warp core, they're going to do it TO the warp core, not near it.
Real engineers, that is. Not Starfleet engineers.

I really enjoyed playing this game, and all of the characters had good models - except Miranda. It was like when they were putting together the character models, they kind of forgot about her. Everyone has good hair, except her. Everyone has good facial expressions, except her. I'm just curious as to why that one character got neglected.
5:55 - 7:25 When the ship's Chief Science Officer starts badmouthing the XO (main character) to a random crewman (the other main character), he definitely gives a lot of bad vibes 😉
He def has problems with jealousy. Though he also demonstrated decent people skills talking with Deiz. Not who I'd want as a first officer but I don't think he's a totally bad guy.
@@Tyr666Thor Agreed. Commander Westbrook ended up as a more capable XO for Captain Rydek compared to the other alternatives 😉
The secure containment module relies on transporter tech to load unfamiliar and possibly volatile substances that you don't really understand and might react very badly to the process. Brilliant. Can't see how anything could possibly go wrong.
Reminds me a bit of TNG's Gambit.... Nice callback to the series! Oh hey Rick, been watching a couple years now, don't comment much, but amazing work! And I am very stingy with trek lore compliments, so it is well-earned!

I gotta say, I'm impressed with Tylas' characterization, both her dialogue and her voice acting. She's one of the more believable Star Trek characters I've seen. You can hear the struggle between her peaceful nature and the need to be decisive in her voice, even as she makes light of the situation.

Wait, that scenery is AMAZING! It looks so much more real than anything else in the game, I mean even the deck looks a little plastic but that mine entrance looks just like someone transported a TNG set into the digital world!
I mean, TNG rock always did look a little plaster-y but they have recreated the authentic fake look, if you know what I mean?

I loved the interaction with Westbrook on the shuttle.
It shows much the morale of the Resolute is in the toilet, when the senior staff bad-mouths their new XO to an enlisted crewman.
With at least some the senior staff blaming the Captain for the big accident and the Captain in turn blaming his crew, this is a powder keg waiting to explode at worst possible moment.
However you turn it, Rydek has her job cut out for her, trying to keep it all together.
That the Captain is rather transparently using this mission as a bid to salvage his career is not exactly helping either.
Yours are the only playthroughs I watch with commentary. In all other cases not having some guy(s) getting on my nerves with their unqualified remarks is for me an ineluctable precondition. But as in your main story series your comments and most of all your explanations actually enhance my viewing pleasure, a lot. Great vids!

I’m loving the little comments like “crouching usually works in most games.” “I didn’t bring any climbing gear? I just went as is, in my uniform.” I don’t why but it makes me chuckle.
I would've thought there'd be something like an "overcoat" or another type of outwear that would've been more camo-capable for a mission like this.
That may've meant a new character model though, which could be costly to design for just one section of the game.
So it's a quantum engineered tetryon waveguide of some sort. My guess would be either homing beacon or weapon.

When watched as a series mode, 'Resurgence' is way better than 'Trek' series produced by Paramount nowadays (w/exception of SNW and Terry Matalas-produced "Picard" Season 3).

Damn that hour passed quickly! I am enjoying this story, I'm guessing it was made on the cheap though given how decidedly last generation it looks and how the controls seem somewhat clunky.
That tracks, but with a side dose of heartwarming hope - what I read up on it’s a lot of ex Telltale people who banded together after that company went under. Telltale at their best always prioritized story over the other stuff, I hope they stay afloat

The preview and ads for this game make it look so good but after seeing it for a bit I can say they used some ultra Hd footage xD why couldn’t they have used that ingame, lolololthat and it gives bad motion cap vibes for much of the face animations.
It gives me vibes the same as the doctor who games lolol

So this is where Westbrook lost me. His conversation with Diaz is *incredibly* unprofessional, especially for a senior officer to have with a junior enlisted man.
He’s a commander, for Christ’s sake. He wants to be a first officer! He should know better that he needs to maintain the chain of command. Bitching about the new XO to, again, a junior enlisted man is about the worst thing he could do here.

I have not watch very much of this video yet, so I'll be curious to see what the actual cause of the lack of warp travel is, but it sounds like Omega to me.
I'm playing this on Xbox series X. My only complaint about this game so far is the lack of y-axis inversion.
