The Other has arrived with Terran Emperor Cusher. The mirror universe V'Ger has made its slow but unalterable course to the Sol System, Capital of the United Federation of Planets, Earth and nothing has stopped its 12th level power. So we draw the line at Jupiter station.

The briefing scene with SO many STO characters was such a delight to see for myself when I ran the mission. Even Kurland was here!

The detail of characters in this episode was really amazing overall.

I really enjoyed that initial briefing with all of our allies assembled in one place. I love this kind of "all hands on deck" scenario.
The Federation, the Empire, the Republic, and the Dominion, along with the Alliance representatives and various subdivisions such as intelligence and medical officers. Quite a reminder of the journey we've been on for all these years. The flagships arrayed outside the window is a nice touch, not to mention all of the famous individuals we've come to know.
I had the same reaction when The Other destroyed Jupiter.

Not to mention the Bortasqu.

The ending to this episode was great.
And so, from across the Khitomer Alliance, characters from different factions, arcs, and series all stand united in large numbers. But in this case unfortunately, that is not enough. Not even with Kurland there.
That way this video ended; no music, just a half minute of silence to convey how dire the situation is. I recall first seeing that scene when I played this mission. The Olympian that is Jupiter has fallen, now all that can be done is delay Earth from suffering the same.
The ending of this episode left me with shivers. I can't wait for the next one
Honestly , I liked this arc for what it was, yes, I do agree that it has its flaws but I like how it presents itself
Sol system just got a lot more roomy!
The writing on this game is really starting to push main line trek in many aspects. And the way you narrate organize it all is always appreciated.
The sound design of V'ger was and still is a masterpiece
Craig Huxley returned to use his incredible blaster beam for it so yeah it’s the same sound tech from the original appearance of V’Ger
This is what I love about STO.
So nice to see all of the characters from earlier STO stories gathered together to fight a new galactic menace. Been eagerly awaiting this next chapter of the current storyline, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all turns out.

Jupiter Station I could understand, but when he got Jupiter that was a freak out moment. They did excellent work on this.
This mission had a lot of fun moments. Honestly enjoyed it a lot.
Neat, more STOSS! Your series has been and continues to be very valuable to me, someone who doesn't have the patience to engage with an MMO. This gives me the story in an arguably even more entertaining way, given your impeccable narration. It's great comfort food.

I loved the ending to the Tarren Gambit arc and the amazing amount of detail put in. Also really enjoyed how it humanized the Tarren's overall. There not just these Game of Thrones/Star Wars Empire style characters anymore.

I love how the last few missions brought more complexity to Terrans. They are evil, but still human. She loved her son, but still kept emotional distance and appearances. Just as the death of Kuumaarke showed that they aren't as cold as they pretend to be.

I wonder if they'll add the Protostar to STO seeing as that ship class is now canon (for what canon is worth these days). As for Jupiter, well, that probably screwed up the gravitational balance of the system.

I do find it kind of funny that a lot of the same people who compalin about DIS and PIC not following "Gene's vision" are so down on the end of an STO arc that seems totally in line with Gene's vision. I mean, it's not really that different from how TMP ended when you get down to it, just with a lot more characters involved. I think some people just like to complain, and will look for any excuse to do it, even if it makes them look like hypocrites.
Your right about that I loved the ending to the Tarren Gambit arc and the amazing amount of detail put in. Also really enjoyed how it humanized the Tarren's overall. There not just these Game of Thrones/Star Wars Empire style characters anymore.
I really have my distaste’s for them but honestly because their direction and writing in their origin source. The behind STO are miracle workers I can tolerate a lot of the disco characters presence even more thx to STO
The thing I most hate about the new _Trek_ series, but especially about _DISCO_ , is that everyone is a jerk to everyone else. I watched all of season 1 because I got it from the library, and found it both physically and emotionally difficult to watch. I waited and hoped for it to improve and return some hope to the story and characters, but it never did. And I have no wish to watch it now that I know there are zero stakes and no tension thanks to the characters basically having magical technology that can do anything at will, on a ship that can go anywhere, anywhen, also at will, and has as its captain, an individual who the plot won't let lose.
_STP_ continued the drab feel, and added to that the crime of not only killing off a number of the franchise's legacy characters, but assassinating the characters of those who survived: Make no mistake, Picard like Icheb and Data, is dead. A simulacrum walks around with his appearance and memories, but that is not the Jean-Luc Picard who dedicated his life to Starfleet's best ideals, but a strange JL Picard instead. I fully expect the other legacy characters to be killed off or sent away like Tilly before long. I also expect, because we've seen it across the different _Trek_ series, to see our favourite legacy ship designs beaten by the new, 'better' designs. I expect Lore and Moriarty to be bastardized and killed off just like Q was, or maybe they'll become embittered drinkers with trigger-happy fingers like Seven of Nine.
_Lesser Decks_ got hit somewhat worse, with Starfleet officers behaving like high schoolers, and disregarding harm to their colleagues, whether physical or emotional. As nice as the TNG/DS9 aesthetic was, I just couldn't get past seeing Mariner carve a path of destruction through her whole crew, destroying her ship, just to get a shot at her mother. It doesn't matter that it was a holodeck program, that should have sent a report to the ship's councilor or a Starfleet psychiatrist to have her re-evaluated as an officer. But of course, nothing was done. I can't help feeling Mariner would have been far happier as the captain of a merchant marine vessel, helping out wherever she saw fit. Essentially she and Rio could have swapped places, and both of them would have been happier.
_Prodigy_ is probably the best of the new series, given there was far less room to blatantly signal the Message than in the other series. The _Prodigy_ crew actually helped each other and cooperated, when Gwyn wasn't trying to kill everyone else. Despite having characters that looked more at home in a _Star Wars_ series, this felt a lot more like a _Star Trek_ story than the other ones. Of course, given the presence of so many jerks on those other series, it's not a high bar.
I haven't seen much of _Strange New Worlds_ , but I have heard a mixed bag of comments. Some things work well, and other things do not. It could work, but I think the vision the writers want to share would be better-served either outside of _Trek_ altogether, or in an era that would be all their own to play with. Sort of like _DISCO_ after the time jump, but only moreso, since there would be nothing familiar in a new time to reference. Then, free of the fetters of _Trek_ lore, the writers and producers could show whether or not they can also write something free of Message lectures.
You'll note that most of my complaints relate to character and character development, but story is also a huge factor. Most of the things I like have them well-written, while the things I dislike focus more on visual spectacle, and have less substance. The latter, sadly, has been true of most Western 'entertainment' recently. It doesn't give me much hope for the future of our culture, especially when so much effort is spent vilifying our legacy heroes and tearing down at their legacies.

I think the writing could have hinted a bit earlier that he wasn't totally uncaring, but I agree that the ending of the arc was very classic Trek and it worked fine for me.

I'm hoping Admiral Hale is also going to play the 2 side missions that are a part of the 13th anniversary, since they give background on events in this arc, and it'd be amusing to hear Hale's running commentary about them.
He did play the Patrol side mission Atleast, after bc it’s a simulation of previous events. And if you mean the ground TFO, he already did that. The space TFO isn’t really too much different then the stuff he already covered so eh

If you're the leader of the klingons and you go out by the enemy blowing up the station you are watching the battle on, does that technically count as dying in battle and mean you go to sto-vo-kor?
I'm going to say that's a yes you would go to Sto-vo-kor because you were still in battle and stayed at your station.
@@BurningFlamesofDivineDragon Indeed you stayed at your post in battle and died as direct result of enemy actions, even Klingons recognize that there's people who need to stand back and control the flow of battle.
You get sent to Grethor if you run from due to fear but the wind respects no fool and there's times even Klingons have to fall back if only the get to a better position to fight back and there's times when a Klingon has to stand back to better bring victory and glory to their house.

@@Arrowthorne This was not a well written arc. Kirk took down gods every other week. As poor as this mission was narratively, visually it was an absolute high water mark for STO. Just breathtaking.

One thing I do enjoy from what we see of Beverly Crusher is that while there is that slight hard edge of her she is a Terran after all. There is still that strong Maternal Instinct & if you expand this to what we see in the Bird Cage TFO. Someone that has the ability to recognise that a monster should be reigned in.
This is going to be the focus of the next part part3), looking at the Crushers as people, now we have bypassed the tech around them.

Since 'Voyager' is 'V'Ger,' I guess that makes 'Conquerer' 'into C'Qer, which could be pronounced as 'Seeker.'
Given how this mission ends, I feel like the creators realized the had a huge naming opportunity. It struck me as odd that people in the Mirror Universe would call C'Quer, "The Other". The other what? What is their frame of reference? The Seeker is a much cooler sounding name, and had malevolent and benevolent implications. Sure Seeker can be seen as a synonym for Explorer, but there are also the implications with Hunter-Seeker, and Seeker Missiles, which gives it a nice dual meaning based on intent.

My crew looks different. The best moment for me. I have been a cadet at Starfleet Academy --Studying Wave Interfence-- under Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway. Minor nitpick: Very early in the video you put The Other's size at 2AU (astronomical units, or approx twice the distance from the Sun-Earth). You said this 2AU size dwarfs the Sol system, but the distance from the edge of the Heliopause to Sol is about 90AU. While absolutely massive, The Other only dwarfs the entirety of the inner planets not our whole solar system. I love the Trek vids. Keep up the good work.

Nunna, maintaining a consistent scale requires a concept of the dimensions involved, which your average joe doesn't have, the sizes of everything are just too big for that.

On the maps, yes. Important enough to matter? Not really. The Star Empire is a miniscule, tarnished shadow of what it once was. They have almost no military power, and what little they do have is currently pointed inwards. And with the Tal Shiar effectively gone and Sela still missing, there's no one who could feasibly be called a leader among the Star Empire's remnants. Why should Starfleet, or anyone else give them a seat at such an important conference?
Jupiter's role in history would mean we were already boned if it disappeared from history

When two hurricanes spinning in the same direction pass close enough to each other, they begin an intense dance around their common center. If one hurricane is a lot stronger than the other, the smaller one will orbit it and eventually come crashing into its vortex to be absorbed.

To be fair, Illea was the one to call it "The Other" first whichbis in reference to it being another V'Ger. The Khitomer Alliance just called it "The Other" afterwards for ease of identification, after all they didn't know it was named C'Qer (Conquerer).
