    Those halos drive me mad, I've been using a similar technique but without the blank page. I've just moved from FF to the om-1, it's been a frustrating time, but with the support of your calming videos I'm slowly dragging my way up the learning curve. Thanks so much for your dedication and efforts.....

      Hello John, many thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such generous feedback. Like you, I had quite a learning curve when I "downsized". But you soon tend to get the hang of things when you understand the optical characteristics. Additionally, the electronic components and the way in which they are configured by OM System work really well despite the camera costing a fraction of the price of an equivalent full frame flagship model. So keep at it, and I'm sure it will all fall into place soon. 😊👍

      I can confirm it works in Affinity too. Also, if you set the blend modes to lighten instead of darken, it works for removing dark halo lines too. I've always found those more difficult than light ones, so doubly useful. Thanks again.

    Howdy David, nice to wander along beside you at the water's edge. As you were adjusting exposures and wishing you'd brought along a slightly less strong ND filter, I wondered why you didn't use the OM1's built in LiveND and see if that would measure up to your expectations. Let a fellow know. I simply won't sleep till I do.

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  Před 2 lety

      Hi Ted, yes I was using live ND. I think I was just musing on shutter speed as opposed to a lack of filters with me. I always have the glass with me in any case. And I can say that the effect is very good indeed and that 2 or 3 fewer items to carry around from now on 😊👍

  • @normstangl3499
    @normstangl3499 Před 2 lety

    Hi David, I was fascinated by the earlier image, in the video, shot with your 14-150 lens at f22 using your new OM-1. I believe that you used it extensively on the EM5 in the past. How do you like the performance on the new camera, being a non pro lens? Were you concerned at all about diffraction with such a small f-stop? It’s difficult to tell if there’s any image degradation when viewed on CZcams. I’ve just rendered this question irrelevant by pursuing the notes of your gallery page. An interesting outlook.
    What tripod are you using? It looks to be very compact yet sturdy. I have a real anchor of a tripod and I’m looking for interesting options that won’t break the bank. I just checked your gallery and discovered it’s a three legged thing, currently unavailable. Oh well, I’ve managed to render this question irrelevant as well! I love your gallery page set up and the information that you share there. When do you sleep?
    As always your videos are very interesting and they frequently offer great advice. The analysis of your composition considerations are invaluable. I love how you work a scene. Cheers!

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  Před 2 lety

      Hello Norm, many thanks for tuning in and your very generous feedback. To answer your second question first, I'm just very good at multitasking and get plenty of sleep! With regards to the f/22 question, I have never been afraid to push equipment to the limits of its specification, otherwise what's the point in having it? It is, of course, true that an image may be very marginally softer at smaller apertures, but this is almost entirely limited to extremely zoomed in pixel piping. And under normal conditions I would challenge anyone to correctly spot a small aperture image against a wider one with both using the same overall EV value. Additionally, careful use of such processing tools as Topaz sharpen AI easily compensates in post. And, as you will have seen from the image in question, the results are pretty conclusive 😊👍

  • @steveworthington930

    Hi David, is that halo edit avaiable in LR? Yes, the new OM1 is far superior to OM2/3, but 2k? This pensioner can,t afford it, OM1 Mk2 good enough for me, still 20 MP, same as OM1, nice if you can afford it, but a better tool? Cartier Bresson would probably compose better with a box brownie than me, it,s not the gear that count,s, it,s the compostion etc, the moment.

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes you're quite right Steve, it's a fair chunk of change. But I was able to offset most of it by selling the 2 bodies it replaces. And as I make a huge amount of use of my photo gear, and which I tend to keep across 4 or 5 year cycles, that makes it much more reasonable overall 😊👍
