  • While there are many, many Super Mario 64 rom hacks out there, I haven't actually played many of them.
As a matter of fact, my first is actually a relatively recent one, Peach's Fury, by KazeEmanuar and thelegendofzeina, released in 2022.
There's only 25 stars to collect, so it's a small one, but man, is it's ambition massive.
Its hilariously gorgeous, with refined animations for coins, music from recent Mario games thrown in, and playing at a buttery smooth, fairly consistent 60 frames per second.
You start the hack by being greeted by Peach who is absolutely pissed that apparently Mario spent all of the Kingdom's money on pizza and pasta.
    Considering Peach is a monarch, this means either two things;
    1. The monarchy doesn't have much money saved up in their reserves... or
    2. Mario ate so much pizza and pasta that he bankrupted the entire Mushroom Kingdom
Either way, this is a simply horrifying reality, especially given that Mario is doing all his usual back-flips and long jumps on a hilariously full stomach.

When I saw the quality of this video I was surprised that you had such a small channel. So here's a new subscriber for you.

definitely keep your eye on the development of Kaze's next major rom hack called Return to Yoshi's Island. the mod uses his optimized SM64 engine, which was actually the whole point of Peach's Fury; to showcase all of the optimization techniques in a mini romhack ^.^ there's a demo of RTYI, however that build is vastly outdated to his current engine, but it's still worth playing!

I've been very excited about RTYI since Kaze announced it. Very intriguing stuff.

Okay class please open page 52. Today were going to talk about the economic depression of the 20s. There were many contributing factors for this event, but the main catalyst was when the monarch at the time's male suiter *citation needed* drained the entire gold reserve for a meal... A single meal... For himself. Tomorrow we will cover the revolution and proliferation of the mushroom guillotine.

"Aww teach, when do we finally get our pizza party?" Its like you've learned NOTHING, Tommy! Read the room! Cultural trauma!

You know Kaze the creator of this hack is also working on another newer and bigger hack called "Return to Yoshi's Island." You might know all the background in thia guy and maybe you don't. One of the first hacks he worked on was "Star Road". Ive never played hacks before either, yesterday I had my first hand at Star Road. The difficulty is upped from the original. Also the camera is rather jankey. There ks also a newer mod of this hack which improves the camera but it also changes the location of stars etc so o figured I want to play the original first. People call it the unofficial sequel to SM64. So far I'm two levels in and I love it.
Its been two decades since Ive played SM64, the controls are a bit blocky compared to newer titles. But I suppose I just need to practice a bit more.
Just before seeing your video I watched a 30 minute play through of Peaches's Furry. The guy has put a lot of heart into the game. I especially love the end credits, put a smile in my face.

I have mixed opinions on Kaze Emanuar hacks, I played Super Mario Ocarina of Time and Mario Odyssey 64 and while it was fun at first, they became very confusing later on and then I got frustated and dropped them, but I believe they did a fine job overall in them.

Interesting... I'll be looking at many of Kazes hacks so I'm excited, but now also more curious than ever before.

He makes so many hack that some aren't as well done as others. He is more an incredible programmers than a Level Design ( the Last Impact map design is... Questionnable )
But he really outdit himself in Peach Fury and it makes me SUPER excited to play that Return to yoshi's Island 64 which seem so much better than his old demo of it.
