You may notice from the opening photo that the wings are built but they'll be in Part Three ... this Part was getting a bit long and I don't want to send you all to sleep 😁
I could think of worse ways to fall asleep. The smell of balsa wood…. I do love the laminations though; I’ll do more on the next kit whether the plans call for it or not. Thanks for the build.
I would definitely watch an unedited version. I'm not going to sleep! Thanks Cliff!
@@anguscampbell9311Laminations are all-win Angus, fun to do, look fantastic and super strong 😁👍
The Triplane Plus Up is coming along great, Cliff, Dr. Balsa Dust, well designed and built. Jeff in LA USA
Cheers Jeff 👍
Beautiful build. Looking forward to seeing the maiden.
Thanks Bob, she's looking really pretty 👍
As usual…super interesting and relaxing!! 🙏👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Another great Masterclass Cliff, really interesting how you did the laminations. 👍🏻
Thanks Chris, I like to do them without glue first, it makes it a lot easier and more controlled 👍
Perfect timing, just made a tea!.
Snap 🙂 Enjoy 👍
You're good at Balsa builds. I really like watching, I always get a tip.
Glad you like them Robert, you're quite right I do get a lot of satisfaction working with my hands. It's just to shame that I have to edit the videos down quite so much, Part Two was probably four hours of video edited down to 20 minutes! Lots of good stuff ends up on the Cutting Room Floor I'm afraid 🤔👍
Looking great Cliff!
Thanks Adam👍
Looks really good cliff 👍
Thanks 👍
Managed to watch the video properly this morning great work.
When it comes to bending wood a trick I have used in the past when building model boats is to spray the wood with IPA (Isopropyl alcohol) not Indian pale ale 😊.
Some brands of window cleaner also works due to the alcohol content.
I've got some IPA on the bench Mark didn't think to use that, I'll give it a go next time 👍
Nice work! When I laminate edges of fins, rudders, wingtips etc. I cut a 'female' template to the outside shape. This not only gives an accurate shape and size to the finished part, but also the wood is nauturally constrained by the template against the way it wants to spring, requiring little or no pinning.
Isn't that what I did Pete 🤔👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes I did see that you used the female parts cut away from the male template to hold the laminations in place, but it's the other way round from my approach. I lay the laminations into the complete female template.
@petetwizz7282 I'm with you now, I guess there's advantages to both ways ... interesting 👍
Very nice build Cliff, it's great to see the plane coming together 😀👍
Thanks Ian, the satisfaction is immense 👍
Awesome! Love the positivity and obvious enthusiasm. Bending wood is so gratifying, isn't it? I like to use Sigment on balsa that I will be sanding, works great especially on the laminations. CYA and Titebond dry so hard compared to the balsa.
Thanks, it is very gratifying indeed, Sigment must be a US glue, I'm in the UK but it sanded pretty well with the Speed Bond, cheers 👍
Good work Cliff, waiting for next video. Congratulations from spain. I am a classic plane builder as you. Here in Spain is complicated find kits of classic balsa. Is a shame that this is loosing for the foam plane
Hi Pablo, next video soon, you don't consider that other countries have problems getting kits to build. I enjoy building from plans as you can see. Outerzone has hundreds to download for free if you can get the balsa? Foam models have probably introduced more flyers to the hobby than balsa would have these days, I've got a couple myself but whilst they fly very well you don't get that sense of satisfaction that an own-built model gives you, thanks for watching, cheers
