- Time to start a new build, this is the gorgeous Sopwith Triplane at 36in span from the Mike Roach plan available for free download on Outerzone (outerzone.co.uk/plan_details...., it's designed for three channel but I'll be adding ailerons. Part One builds the fuselage.

The Great War aircraft just had so much style and character ... who could resist putting one together 🙂👍
Haha 😂 where the same age Cliff🤣😂
An other great build going
@@Yogenhthanks Paul 👍
As always, coming together very nicely.
Thank you Ron! Cheers!
Another triplane? Awesome!
You know it! 👍🙂
Super neat building skills, Cliff. I'll be glued to my computer screen for the following episodes (not literally, I hope!) I've already picked up a building tip from this video, so thanks for that.
Thank you Gina, I'm really enjoying this build, it's going to make a lovely model, I can't wait to see her in the air 🙂👍
Right up my street Cliff!
A nice size too. Excellent contrast to the Hunter
Yeah, very different in every respect except one, they both fly, hard to believe there's only 34 years between them!
Amazing build and display of skills, have a great weekend, Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff, you too 👍
Looking great as usual! The multi wing models are really attractive, but are also very complex. When you get it in the air it is going to look awesome!
Thanks Andrew, the big challenge will be lining up all the wings and deciding exactly what order to glue components together 🤔👍
Hi Cliff, I like your videos, I have downloaded the same plans and will building it later. I have lots of stuff still on the building table, will follow your build. Thank you for all the good videos.
Cool Bill, thanks 👍
Can’t bit of balsa bashing as sore throat therapy ❤
A sore throat doesn't stop your building that's for sure Nick 😁👍
Looks great, nice work 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Looking great so far Cliff! Love it!
Thanks Adam, she's building up to be a smashing little model 🙂
Cool build Cliff
Thanks David 🙂
Nice masterclass Cliff, glad you like the activator as well. Nice for a shout out, thank you. Looking forward to the next part. 😊
Thanks Chris, you're welcome, I'm really enjoying this build 🙂👍
You go Cliff ! - When you finish, you can give any 'Hun Fokkers' you encounter something to worry about !
She'll buzz around them like a hornet! 😁
Interesting project.
I think so too Bob 🤔👍
That's easy for you to say 🤭 You're making very quick work of that build Cliff, taking shape nicely 😀👍
Thanks Ian, she's practically falling together, year right!
Beautiful aircraft Cliff, used mostly by the Royal Naval Air Service, one was shot down and before it could be destroyed by the pilot it was captured by the Germans and then adjusted to become the Fokker DR1
Thanks Gary, I think the Dr1 looks more modern in comparison but the Sopwith has a charm all of it's own 👍
Excellent video as usual.
That activator spray cliff you only need a misting of it,it was originally designed to counter act the effects of porous surfaces as a professional kitchen fitter I've been using it for years.
I'd take the straw of the nozzle and make sure your super glues have lids on and are out of the way as the vapours get in and blocks your nozzles and can eventually set all your glues.
But honestly you really only need a small amount.
Look forward to this build and its looking very good already nice work.
I think the nozzle is fixed actually but I'll get used to just spraying a little bit, it's quite a powerful spring on it actually 👍🙂
I have just went down to Staples and have had the plans printed just now😊
Excellent Bill 👍
thumbs up!
Thank you Collin, Cheers! 👍
Watching a build is the next best thing to building myself.
Great video.
It sure is Mark, cheers 👍🙂
Man ... another plane ... The grass is just starting to get long enough here to do my test glides on the half built plane I have been working on thru the winter .
Hi DM, yes, while the wind blows I can't fly the models I want to so into the workshop, what model have you been building?
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes One plane is a Guillows Cessna 150 which I made my own tail wings for to look like a Bird Dog , the other is a peanut scale self design , fuselage like a Nieuport 11 , but a monoplane like a Saulnier , to be super capacitor powered .
I've built some foambard planes. One of these days I want to start building in balsa, but I don't know any of the techniques to working with it and it's difficult to know how to get started with it. It doesn't seem so hard from watching you though 😀
Best advice I can give is to buy a simple kit and possibly join a dedicated Facebook group and just to practice and have fun, at least you'll know how to hold a scalpel so that's a good start 👍
you're making good progress on your new Sopwith triplane model, I just wondered what equipment is needed to print full size plans from outerzone , thanks for your videos cliff, from Tony from Bedfordshire
Hi Tony, all you need is a ordinary printer. If you search CZcams for printing plans you'll find lots of videos explaining the fairly simply process, cheers
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes ok thanks cliff I,ll look into that
Mike Roach makes some exceedingly good models. I didn’t know you had scaled up.
The build looks very similar to the DH2. So a good step forward.
I wonder where you got the idea for outtakes from? 🤔❤
Mike's designs are very similar and they would be of course very nice builds. I was doing outtakes when you were still in nappies Nick 🤣
Nicely done sir That will be such a cracking model what colour scheme i wonder
Basically there was only one colour scheme Barry, green and cream or all black and I don't like all black aeroplanes ... 🙂
Great video cliff so what you going to build next cliff
Thanks Tunny, hopefully with Summer coming they'll be more flying videos but I've got a bare-bones Fokker DVII to complete which should keep me going 🤔👍
looking lovley already....may I ask what CAD program you are using??
Hi Charlie, I use Qcad, it does what I need and isn't too difficult to learn, there's lots of how to videos on CZcams, cheers
Do you use a laser cutter?
Hi Colin, yes, ribs and ply parts are now a joy, I was sent an Algo laser for review, the machine is brilliant but it's a steep learning curve for cad drawing 🤔👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes the laser cutter is clearly saving sooo much time. Have you or anyone done any how to videos as I’m only interested in this not the huge amount cad can do?
Hi Steve, I import into Lightburn software, there's a really good resource on CZcams from the Louisiana Hobby Guy, he's a bit of a laser expert, definitely worth checking him out, cheers 👍
