We're Going to URUGUAY! 🇺🇾😊 | Ferry from Buenos Aires to COLONIA on the BUQUEBUS 🛥️ + Uruguayan BBQ!

  • We're off to a new country: Uruguay! In this episode, we'll take Buquebus ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia del Sacramento. This is just a short ferry crossing across the River Plate that takes about an hour. Colonia is a popular day trip from Buenos Aires, but if you have a bit more time, it's nice to spend a few days enjoying this charming town. We'll talk about costs, show you what the ferry crossing is like, and once we get settled into our apartment in Colonia, we'll take you out for our first Uruguayan barbecue.
    If you are thinking of going from Argentina to Uruguay taking the Buquebus ferry is your best option. You can take the shorter crossing of Buenos Aires to Colonia; however, you also have the option of doing the longer crossing to Montevideo. Alternatively there is an overland crossing by bus which you can take at night if you're looking to save on accommodations for the evening. I did that over 10 years ago; however, given the choice we'd go with the ferry. We were all feeling really excited to be in Uruguay together and to go out for one of our first of many Uruguayan bbq (also known as Uruguayan asado). We're looking forward to sharing more travel videos from Uruguay soon.

    Uruguay, the diminutive nation mostly bordered by Argentina, is sometimes overlooked by visitors to South America. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in location, easy access, and a wealth of culture, art, food and drink, including its iconic wine, Tannat.

      The adjective shouldn’t be diminutive, it’s the wrong one, you should’ve wrote “minuscule”, the adjective is wrongly employed in that sentence.

    It is not easy for a couple to travel long hours together. Once the body is tired, there are many times when we can't take care of each other well, and we get irritated or fight often because we become sensitive, but it's envious to see the way you guys always travel happily.

    Uruguay is such a beautiful place. When I was there I toured a neighbourhood in Punta Del Este referred to by locals as 'Beverly Hills', or it could've been in Monte Video. Anyway, the huge estates were magnificent and the cab driver said it's where at lot of the IMF money loaned to Argentina ended up. One thing I noticed is the people in Uruguay and Argentina seem to have a very sophisticated understanding of how their politicians are ripping them off, even cab drivers!

    First, let me say that I have watched almost everyone of your videos and absolutely love them. I would like to book a Buquebus ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia de Sacramento on December 20 and then return three days later. I’ve tried their website but it seems like from the United States it is not allowing me to get to the booking point where I can pay. Do you have a website or any other suggestions on how I can pre-book these ahead of time. On the other option in December will there be plenty of open space to book my travel or2 do I have to really be concerned about not getting there? Thanking in advance for you your help. Robert

    • @samuelandaudrey
      @samuelandaudrey  Před rokem

      Hi Robert, sorry to hear you're having trouble with the website! We bought our tickets online (in Canada) to travel there, but then for the return journey, we just bought the tickets at the ferry terminal (before boarding to Uruguay in Buenos Aires). If you're planning to be in Buenos Aires ahead of time, you could swing by the terminal and book in person. Hopefully, it's just a glitch and the website lets you book!

      hey hey i live here and people mostly wear masks inside. we have relatively few cases (today was 821) but right now it's bad, with most areas in red or orange zones. still if you do the work it's hard to get sick and most contagion is in medical and sports facilities. all businesses are open and running with the proper protocols in place.
