- We are kicking off this South America trip! In this first episode, we travelled back to Argentina and landed in Buenos Aires - the most logical place to begin this 3-month trip. After taking a taxi into the city and checking in to our apartment, our first order of business was to go in search of food. On the flight over, we had been talking about what we wanted our first meal back in Buenos Aires to be, and my dad was craving milanesa. Well, lucky for us, the AirBnB we rented was just a few blocks away from one of the most famous milanesa restaurants in the whole city! We ate at Los Orientales, a place that has won many awards for its monster milanesas. If you haven't heard of this dish before, it's a breaded meat cutlet (kind of like a Wiener Schnitzel or an Italian Cotoletta), that is super popular in Argentina. We got the biggest portion on the menu which came on a platter loaded with French fries, potato salad, tomatoes, eggs, red peppers, ham, cheese, and probably a whole lot more! We didn't believe it would be enough for 3 people, so we ordered a second milanesa, and this outing quickly turned into a food challenge!

@@samuelandaudrey When in Argentina I only ever ate them with tomato sauce and queso rallado, not that I complained. I've recently been experimenting - sweet potato ñoquis with a white sauce.
In hindsight I don't know why I didn't eat more choripan. I love sausage, but I ate it maybe two times the whole time I was there.
No city will tug on your heart strings more than Buenos Aires. It's a place where romance and dance halls still reign. As some of it's most famous exports might suggest, it's also a mecca for football and foodie fanatics. Not only that, it's a shoppers paradise, home to a vibrant art and fashion scene.

Buenos Aires is #1 on my list for post-Covid travel destination, thanks to Audrey, Sam, and especially Daniel! Can’t wait for the next episode!

It reminds me when I went back with my children, my son from Toronto and my girl from Paris.
I was born in the province of Buenos Aires and lived 15 years in Cordoba. Had a cabane at El Bolson in Patagonia also with some land.

I hope you do get the chance to visit! I think most Argentines understand that was a war that was fought almost 4 decades ago, and that the average British tourist in Argentina is just there to visit. I backpacked with an English friend across Argentina 10+ years ago now, and she didn't have any troubles in that regard. In some destinations you may come across street names or signs that read 'Malvinas Argentinas', but that's all, no one is looking for trouble.

I've been confused since you mentioned this trip and its upcoming videos. Didn't we see a similar trip (gaucho knives and such) last year or 2019?
We did 2 big trips to Argentina in 2019. One was Jan-March and those videos are already published. Then we went back Oct-Jan and visited different parts of the country and also neighbouring Uruguay and Chile.
