Kato would've washed 60s robin
Wards don't hit back.
@@clearcreek69 It would be a straight up Robbin'.
Hell yea
Nooo katooooo but agree to disagree
But me think kato would win
Robin was originally written to win this fight but Burt Ward said that there was no way anyone would be able to suspend their disbelief, as Kato was easily the better fighter.
I thought it Was Bruce Lee who demanded the Rewrite
@@maxpops8427 It was both
Well He was right about that
I’m more inclined to believe it was the scriptwriter who decided that the heroes should fight to a draw, so none of the young fans would be disappointed
Bruce was only a small time actor when he took the role of Kato, and I doubt his suggestions would have held much weight. Couple years later, maybe!
@@tombstoneharrystudios584 Van Williams says in an interview you can find here on CZcams that Lee refused to do the losing fight scene and that Williams backed Lee. This caused the rewrite.
The set looks like a 1960s Apple Store showcasing IPads
Well said Lemon , 😂
That's spot on lol ....classic
actually it was just collectors stamps. i dont know how you saw apples.
Fun fact: Kato could beat the shit out of Robin, Batman and Green Hornet...all together!
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Burt Ward and Adams West, yes, very easily. But the actual Batman in the comics? I'm not sure.
In the original script Kato loses to Robin.
Plus all the other guys too...
@@JoseMolina-ij3xx RIP Batman in any universe if it’s Bruce Lee 😂
Robin fought bruce lee and lived to tell the tale.
He had no chest hair for Bruce to grab on to
Batman must be a proud teacher.
@@ryanlusk242 Batman of that time is smart to not enter that fight. Batman of today gets fan hype powers. So today's version would walk up to Bruce Lee and say I win because I am Batman so please fall down.
Beuce lee didn't tho
Ha...good point!
Bruce Lee lived and breathed martial arts 24/7 and obssessivily trained on every level and in every way. He was simply a better fighter in real life because that was his all consuming passion.
Bruce Lee was unbelievable. Everyone that we spoke to that met him had nothing but great things to say about his martial arts skills.
Bruce did not live Martial Arts 24/7.
He had other interests.
Aside from acting, writing & directing he spent lots of time partying with girls and drugs.
It was the 1960s, Man!
I don't care if it's Batman and Robin, nobody wants to fight Bruce Lee. Funny enough, I grew up watching reruns of this old Batman series and this was one of my favorite episodes.
Theres an entire Tanrantino movie about wanting to kick the ship out of Bruce
I wasn't really trying to hurt the Bat-Person's Colorfully Clad Son. If you'll notice near the end of the fight I was merely defending myself. I do not enjoy being a bully.
Thank you for showing Robin Mercy. 🙏🏻
There is no victory in defeating a weaker opponent.
@@hayashikato6576 there’s victory in it, but definitely no honor. 🙏🏻
I certainly agree.
1:51 did she really ask who wins in a fight between Bruce Lee and dick Grayson?!
RIP Adam West (September 19, 1928 - June 9, 2017), aged 88
RIP Van Williams (February 27, 1934 - November 28, 2016), aged 82
RIP Bruce Lee (November 27, 1940 - July 20, 1973), aged 32
You will be remembered as legends.
Robin still alive?
@@VictorDSMan No he died in 2018
@@VictorDSMan he is still alive and is 78 years old
Remember 1 thing, during the fight scene, Kato tells the Green Hornet: " Good thing they're on OUR side, even though, they DON"T KNOW IT!", so he didn't completely OPEN UP on Robin!
Great point!
Still followed that up by kicking Robin in the face haha
Green Hornet specifically told Kato they would have to use "good judgement"!!!!
I can't blame Ward for being terrified at the thought of fighting Bruce Lee.
He knew Lee could knock him out in 2 seconds, that's why he basically begged off the fight.
Or maybe he was told to look like he was losing
Actually .25 of a second, look up his knock out kick speed
@@timothynetzinger5733 I remember reading that during filming Green Hornet Bruce was practicing his kick and one stage hand(?) moved and Bruce accidentally broke his jaw. Is this true?
Especially since Lee and Ward were workout partners for a time. Burt Ward was actually a Black Belt. Thus he had firsthand knowledge of Lee's skill. Bruce Lee ate Black Belts for breakfast.
If someone told me I had to fight Bruce Lee I would need a new pair of pants
Is this even a question ????? Lee was one of the most respected Martial Artists in the world - Burt Ward, the Boy Wonder.
Originally robin was supposed to win but Bruce Lee didn’t agree to the script .because Bruce didn’t want to lose to anyone ...so they made the scene where no one loses
@@praba991ify Everybody else also thought the writers were retarded for making Robin win. Which is why they rewrote the scene so that Robin and Kato would each get 1 hit in. Then Bruce Lee used this opportunity to prank Burt Ward on set.
@@nuraby_9228 just put on his murder face and stalked him across the set
@@praba991ify It wasn't because Bruce didn't want to lose, the fact was, it would not have been "believable" Robin has no skill the way he fights and then look at KATO very skilled, Bruce said " Nobody would ever believe it", from a viewers point of view Bruce actually was right, and to be honest it showed he knew his business about how an audience would judge fight scenes.
@@praba991ify as I’ve said before, it was probably the scriptwriter or director who decided they should fight to a draw as not to upset young fans
Bruce not wanting to lose to anyone...sorry...but Lee was just a jobbing actor at the time and I doubt his suggestions would have been listened to.
Few years later, of course they would
This was one of the greatest fight scenes of all time
Sarcasm, right?
This is the strongest version of batman we've seen up till today
😂🤣
My seven year old self could not handle the multiple levels of badassery of seeing Robin vs. Bruce Lee for the first time.
You guys got to be kidding right? Putting Burt against Bruce Lee is like asking saying the Karate Kid would beat Mike Tyson !!!!
Another match I would pay to see.
Boy that is one match I would *NOT* wanna see...
Mike Tyson would eat little Daniel alive would be a 30 second knockout
No, more like Beaver Cleaver against Mike Tyson!
Have you seen Kobra Kai? My money is in LaRuasso.
Interesting the way the fight is choreographed. Batman gets in a majority of the punches when battling the Green Hornet, but Kato and Robin get in an equal share on each other. I think this was done to satisfy Bruce Lee, who was adamant his character could not lose to Robin. However, from what I understand, Van Williams didn't care if Batman got the best of the Green Hornet.
Yeah, why would Van Williams care. He got his stun gun and other gadgets as the Green Hornet. He was not really portrayed as a fighter.
Bruce Lee will win against Burt Ward
Kato would have destroyed Batman, but script writers wouldn't allow it.
Lol... yeah okay
batman can win with enough prep /s
@@ProfessorKenneth hahaha. The Bruce Lee zealotry.
@@Romans8-9 zealotry I can understand, but not being smart enough to separate real people from the fictional characters they're portraying on a show for children...THAT makes me shake my head.
Coming up as kid til now. This is my favorite Batman episode of all time. When it comes on tv, I always break my neck to watch it. Batman vs Green Hornet yea even fight. Kato vs Robin classic fight just like Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris. Great memories!!!!
Bruce Lee would have whipped robin so bad it would not be funny.Bruce Lee was the best end of story.
Name 3 professional fighters he beat to prove his the best
@@account-pb2df Chuck Norris even said that Bruce would of whooped him in a real fight 💯
Little known fact is that Burt and Bruce were old friends and neighbors, and they actually trained together in Hollywood before both of them became famous. Bruce was ribbing Burt when they got on set and pretended like he was actually going to kick his ass because the writers wanted Robin to go over. But Bruce caved and started laughing and hugged Burt, then they did the scene
The interview with Van Williams exposes the truth about all of their relationships.
Mr. Williams was very, candid, thorough and believable.
I've heard of this story . Some kids came to the Batman set and Burt Ward was showing off trying to impress the kids saying he knew Karate Then Bruce Lee walked in and stared at Burt Ward. Bruce acted upset hating to have to lose the fight scene with Robin in the script. Bruce Lee scared Burt Ward so bad all week to the point Ward was avoiding him.
In that episode ..remember, The Green hornet and Kato's planned combat with Batman and Robin , was to pull back their combat power against Batman and Robin..because they knew that the Caped Crusaders was the good guys and didn't want to hurt them , but they still had to fight Batman and Robin to keep their cover as criminals when they were secretly heroes as well.
Exactly right one of my favorite episodes of the series.
Just a shame The Green Hornet show didn't last longer.
@@thepayne7862 I 1000000000000% AGREE , I JUST WISH THEY ALSO ALLOW BRUCE LEE TO GROOVE A LOT MORE !!:):)
That line was meant to show The Hornets overconfidence & arrogance. Batman would have mopped the floor with him. A lot of you assholes clearly don't understand that this was NOT a fight between Burt Ward & Bruce Lee but the characters of Robin & Kato. They were actors playing in a carefully choreographed presentation. They were pretty evenly matched in that respect.
I think Batman and Robin sniffed some Bat-amnesia gas. The Green Hornet and Kato were in a window visiting with the Caped Crusaders climbing up the wall prior to the caper with Colonel Gumm.
I would have liked to have seen Green Hornet and Kato have episodes where they would fight Batman's enemies such as the Joker, Riddler, etc. Then we could see how Green Hornet and Kato would have defeated Batman's enemies a lot faster!!! In the Batman show the bad guys walk in hand cuffs taken away by Chief O'Hara and his men!!! Cool!!! In the Green Hornet show the bad guys have to be carried off on stretchers!!!!
I love how even Burt Ward had to tell them that it wouldn't be believable if he beat Bruce. What a humble guy, most actors would love to have the chance to be seen besting Bruce.
Classic duel fight but I gotta go with Green Hornet and Kato. Rip to Bruce Lee..Van Williams..Adam West. Thanks for the good memories...
I liked the fact the green hornet was more serious
I've seen their respective screen tests. As soon as someone said "Fight!" they'd have had to recast Robin immediately.
LOL. Ward's Karate board breaking 🤣🤣🤣Like Bruce says; "Boards don't hit back."
@@teleguy5699 Comparing the two, I'm not even sure Burt could have hit back against Bruce Lee, whether he had a board or not.
@@mickfoil 😂
I read that Bruce Lee did not like that the
Batman and the Green Hornet fight was a tie
Bruce lee said his character 'kato' would have beat Robin hands down and i agree.
Bruce would've beaten Robin and Batman at the same time! lol!
If it was tag fight
Nope
@@gavinjames4252 Stfu for once in your fucking life
Hell Bruce would've cleaned the whole room by himself even after a fif of Hennessy 😂😂😂
Well definitely this version but not the version that kills Superman
There's no question Bruce Lee vs Burt Ward: No Contest !!! Kato hands down !!! POW !!! 💥
Huge fan of this 60s TV show 😊
Bruce Lee was one of the greatest experts of the martial arts ever to exist.!
Bruce Lee once said he hated that scene and any other scene between him and Robin. As he pnce said "kung uu is Kung Fu No child's play"
Honestly one of my top favorite episodes from the 60’s Batman show
Burt Ward (Robin) was not a slouch when it comes to fighting. He was a karate black belt and there's a clip of his auditions for the show. Of course, Bruce Lee would beat him in a real fight but Burt would not go down easily
I wonder why he let all that go. He's very overweight today.
He would've went down like a fat bitch on a seesaw
@@mammycher8895 Father Time is one vicious S.O.B.
@@jasonrodgers9063 It was a lifestyle though. He had to change his whole lifestyle. I guess when he quit the show, he probably ate bon bons and watched his reruns. 🤣
I still don't think Burt would last long cause Bruce Lee was known to beat much better Karate or martial arts experts than Burt.
To quote Bruce on what he said to Burt that day..
You know if this was a real fight,
you.. would not win🙂
Which is why Bruce was too scared to fight anyone and have it filmed. He was just a brand. I'm still a fan, but it's just a fact that he was no fighter.
That would be like Kareem Abdul Jabbar in his prime telling Mini Me "Hey Mini Me you can't guard me!!!" Mini Me would answer "That's understood!!!" Lol!!!!
I love it and all time favorite tv show
This fight was the first time I have ever seen Bruce Lee back in the late 60's. I still remember rooting for Kato to kick the shit out of Robin.
Even though the green Hornet was cancelled after 1 season, it would been interesting to see Van Williams & Bruce Lee make another special guest appearance in the 3rd & final season of Batman and to see how the Green Hornet & Kato would feel meeting Batgirl.
I agree. It would have been interesting to see the Green Hornet and Kato appear in the 3rd season and meet Batgirl. However, the series budget was cut and the producers didn't want that. I also agree with another commenter who posted that season 3 was actually "The Batgirl" TV show with Batman and Robin guest starring. With the falling ratings at the end of season 2, "Batman" should have been canceled just like "The Green Hornet" series, IMO.
Kato could whoop Robin, Batman and all those henchman all at once in a real fight. The Green Hornet could take the whole day off.
Beautyful
Bruce Lee made the Green Hornet series PERIOD.
Dick Ward was probably just praying Bruce Lee doesn't kill him by accident
Bruce Lee against Robin is like Muhammad Ali vs Rocky Balboa!
nah, maybe like Rocky Balboa, Muhammad Ali, Creed, The Russian guy from the 4th film, and everyone in the history of mma vs Seth Rogan
Burt Reynolds had a black belt though
@@aspiknf And never sparred, did pressure testing, or even had the belt at this point in his career (He'd only just started TKD when he started filming the show). Burt was not a fighter, by ANY means. Bruce was a fighter, because he was searching for the best way to codify fighting as a philosophy. He sparred, pressure tested, and learned from others of higher skill. In many respects, he was the first MMA fighter of the modern era, though he had no contests.
And that's why Burt was scared when Bruce pranked him. He knew he didn't have the skill to fight this guy for the scene for real.
Huh??
More like Andre the Giant vs. Herve Villechaize
When you're playing a co-op beat 'em video game and "friendly fire" is active:
Even the silliest versions of Batman and Robin are _still_ Batman and Robin. The Caped Crusaders can hold their own in any incarnation.
i am born in 70 but i remember watching batman and saw kato. probabaly they played those episodes much later here in canada quebec. i did not know bruce lee at that time i guess. its nice to know he did this.
Without a doubt, Bruce Lee (Kato) beats the stuffing out of Robin.
If they acturally defeated lee like they planned ppl would burn the studio😂
Not in those days. I really liked Kati, not Lee wasn’t the icon he is now.
@@dethlokprime8655Even then Lee was an icon since in some places AT THE TIME it was considered the "Kato show" instead of The Green Hornet...for OBVIOUS reasons. 🧐
Burt Ward had a black belt in Karate and also studied Taekwondo, but he knew he was no match for Bruce Lee, who had to leave Hong Kong because he kept beating up gang members of the Triads, to the point that the police warned his parents that Bruce was in danger of being arrested. Fortunately for everyone, Bruce turned over a new leaf in the US and avoided real fights unless provoked. He was simply at a higher level than everyone else, as far as the martial arts, and was training champions like Chuck Norris and Joe Lewis. I'm sure Burt Ward was very happy when Bruce hugged him and said he was joking about a "real fight."
This scene like a treasure
"Holy, enter the dragon, Batman!!!"
Burt himself said that he saw Bruce Lee was on another level above him in fighting capability. They were neighbors and became friends before either got into show biz, and would work out together and hang out together.
Anyone noticed how the fights are more well choreographed here? And it's just the shots with Bruce Lil.
Remember that scene in Batman where Bruce lee fuckin destroyed Batman. Before you say it didn’t happen, I wish it did.
Me too.
Jason Zhang did you just pull a doki doki reference
Bruce Lee is so AWESOME miss you Dragon 🐉
Bruce Lee is the best
I was at a convention where Burt Ward said he used to spar with Bruce Lee
RIP Bruce Lee 1940-1973
😎
The Kato Show !
excellent choreography, the DC character never sustained injury.
I read somewhere that Ward and Lee lived in the same apartment building and Lee gave Ward pointers on fighting for his Batman audition.
Bruce Lee would have beaten the 60s Robin
Burt had a black belt though, closer fight than you think
"it's a good thing those guys are on our side"
kicks Robin in the head anyway
During an interview, included in the "Batman '60s Collection" Special Features, Adam West ( The other "Bruce", as in Wayne, Ha, ha) stated that Burt Ward actually practiced martial arts, Karate, during his time on the series, and was pretty accomplished, in so many ways. That might also be part of the reason that they pranked Burt Ward for a week, on the set, leading him to believe that Bruce Lee did not like him, and was going to demonstrate so, during their gight scene. Of course, Bruce later broke out into a smile, revealing it was all in pure fun. Check it Out! Ciao!!
Kato was holding back in this Scene.
look at my boy robin panicing figuring out how to defend XD
too cool for words ! when i was a kid growing up in the seventies i could'nt wait for this episode to come on , my big brother actually thought that Robin won and i'm like nahh , Robin fought good but ... nah !
Bruce Lee would have wasted Robin... We all love you Bruce Lee from Newport Beach California..🐉🇺🇲..
Burt Ward and Bruce Lee were neighbors before Batman and used to spar with each other as Burt was into martial arts also.
Kato vs the Whole Room: Put all my money on Kato!
woah! that was intense! better than any fight scene in the all the marvel movies combined!
Damn my childhood intelligence just came into question by myself.
Don't worry you're much smarter now lol
Kato: it's good thing those guys are on our side, even tho we dont know it
but kicks robin square in the face anyway, savage 😂
This fight is better than anything in the mcu
Bruce Lee will win for sure no need to explain you’ve seen already how Bruce conquered the world of martial arts💪
Dude who said "And the Caped Crusaders!" sounds like he could change a nine dollar bill in threes...
Rumor has it they shot the scene where the two duo’s actually fight. In the end Chuck Norris came in and whooped all four of their butts. Everyone thought it was a cameo. Turned out he was just passing by and couldn’t stand for what he was seeing. It wasn’t in the script though so they cut it.
I read somewhere that Bruce Lee and Burt Ward were actually workout partners for some time, as were Lee and Chuck Norris.
😊😅😅😅😅 lot of memories
I like this scene a Mexican standoff 'and a great performance❤❤❤❤👌
“Kung Fu’s Kung Fu. Star child’s play.”- Kato
A Piece Of The Action (Batman episode)
It was said that Adam West and Burt Ward visited the set of The Green Hornet and watched the fight scenes being filmed. Van Williams and Bruce Lee visited the Batman set and watched the fight scene filmed on that day, also. On the day of the shoot, it was said that Bruce Lee was not in the best of moods. When the cameras were rolling, Bruce faked out Burt with the spinning back kick and Burt went over the table.
In his autobiography Boy Wonder: My Life In Tights, Burt Ward was often asked if he was afraid of Bruce Lee. Burt Ward stated that he wasn’t afraid of Bruce Lee because he is a practitioner and has a black belt in Kenpo karate.
Batman would see Kato beat the shit out of Robin and be like... maybe I should be YOUR sidekick
:P
I read that Burt was scared shitless during these fight scenes.
This might be 1960s fighting but some of those punches look like they actually fucking hurt
"What do we have here? A Mexican standoff? A dead heat? A photo finish?!"
No! We have.... The best anime crossover!
OMG. Bruce Lee vs. Robin.
Robin just don’t know Kato’ was about to get in that a!%#😃……Bruce baby” I still love watching them episodes of Green Hornet and Kato ☺️💕🥋
The best thing about this scene is that although Adam West and Van Williams are 'Acting' as if they know how to fight, Bruce Lee and Burt Ward actually have (Martial Arts) fighting skills. Burt was a student of Karate and even held a Black Belt. He started his tutelage the first year that the Martial Art was offered in the U.S. Of course Lee was a better fighter and his skill as a Martial Artist is legendary. (But) He and Burt lived in the same apt. complex and would often spar together and train, so Ward wasn't as 'green' as many think. It was a good match-up and exhibition for TV. 🤜💥🤛
Bruce Lee, always. Always.
*Kato:* _"Watch me beat up Wobbin!"_
I have been cheering for both teams equally for Batman and The Green Hornet..I'm pro hero all the way...and to add to that, my name [ although spell differently ] is Reed like Britt Reid and Robert like Robin which is the short version of Robert..and Robert again like Bruce Lee's brother and Bob Kane the creator of Batman. Here I'm in great company :):):):) !
Look as a 7 year old in 1966 i knew there was no way Robin was going beat Kato and my school friends knew it to.
Looks like Ikea furniture the way it crumbles when touched...
Kato could have easily kicked
bird cages out of Robin's ribs
in a single kick.
Robin landed one good punch
to Kato's face during that scene.
But hey, it was all part of the script
or else the episode would've failed.
I'm glad both crimefighters got to
meet up for a beatdown! 😁
dear lord
wack smack bla bla bla bla ..... gold
XD
No contest Kato with the one hitter quiter: swift high kick 2 da head
Let’s be Totally Honest. Kato, would have Murdered Robin, in a Fight!!!!!!
Lee took Ward down a few pegs the day of filming, much to the happiness of certain people behind the scenes. Ward was a real prima donna, so they loved seeing Lee kick his butt.
Bruce Lee said he refused to do the fight scene if Robin was going to win so they rewrote it And the rest is history and the green hornet was a guest appearance on Batman at that time
Actually Bruce Lee and Burt Ward were good friends and had met before they were famous and on tv and Burt actually stayed in Bruce Lee's apartment along with his wife and his baby son Brandon. When Bruce was told he was supposed to lose the tv fight to Robin, he told the producer that's unacceptable and that the least he would agree to do would be a draw. This was a very bold statement from an upcoming unknown. The day they had to shoot the scene, Bruce played with Burt's head. When earlier in the day Burt smiled and waved to him, he ignored Burt. And once again later on he ignored Burt. Burt got all freaked out and told Adam that he hopes his old friend is not angry because people were saying he was a black belt and at that time Burt was not. When it came time to do the scene, Bruce came flying in the room and started coming at Burt who ran away. Bruce then burst out laughing and went over and hugged his old friend. 😂
