Strategy is key. I didn't travel for 2 years. I save and paid off all my crazy debt like you guys did. I travel at least 7 times a year and I pay ahead. I travel alone 70% of the time. If you wait on people to do something you will never do anything. Save your coins and go for it!

My husband and I realized years ago that we were sick of being in debt, having a mortgage, and not being able to travel like we wanted. In early 2015 two of my grandparents passed away and it really kicked my butt into gear (life is way too short). So we started fixing up our large house to sell. We got an offer after only three days on the market. We paid cash for 2.36 acres and the camper that was set up on the property. We lived in that camper for six months while we built a 576 square feet house. About a year after we moved in we were able to pay off our mortgage, so at that point we were absolutely DEBT FREE! We don't spend money on jewelry, expensive clothes, brand new phones, and other junk and we drive our vehicles until the wheels fall off. We bought a conversion van that we sort of turned into an "RV" and have gone cross country a couple of times. We go on road trips all the time since the van saves on hotel expenses. We leave in two days to go on the Carnival Sunshine, we'll be going on the Mardi Gras next month, and my son is on a plane over the Atlantic as I type this to embark on a two week trip to Austria and Slovakia (he paid for his own trip).
We are NOT rich by any means. We just save, paid off debt, and now work part type selling on Ebay and other selling platforms. We aren't rolling in dough AT ALL (we probably now make less than $30,000 a year), but we prioritize and travel is at the top of that list... it's what we love and it's how we like spending our days here on earth. I don't want to die with a bunch of useless crap in my house, so we spend our money on traveling and making memories.

I'm a teacher. People think we have a great deal of time off. Well, it appears that way, but there is so much to do, your work runs over to your weekends and holidays. You have to MAKE yourself stop working....even in the summer's when we teach summer school just to make ends meet. Any raise that I get, I save. I finally paid off my car (it took four years) and my credit cards. That money goes into savings for travel and an emergency fund. I also save ALL my loose change....it adds up. My daughter does my hair, nail salon only once per month or every six weeks. I also have a side business where I bake and sell cakes on the side. My best friend wonders how I have a savings and how I'm able to travel (she makes twice as much money than me). I don't buy unnecessary stuff.

That is good advice! I LOVE to travel - London, Las Vegas, FL, NY, Canada, etc... but never wanted to cruise because I thought I would be sick the whole time. When my bestie had her 50th in 2019, I went on my first cruise despite my fears... CHANGED and UPGRADED my travel life. My husband and I were like why didn't we do this before, my daughter has her time and we get ours and we've added more destinations to our list and crossed off a few. Liberating. But only you can decide what is good for you. ❤❤❤

I do the same thing to travel, save. Now that I am retired I got rid of my satellite and kept my wifi and stream. So I save $100 a month from dropping satellite. I also dropped 2 other services that I can do myself. I hate any kinds of bugs so every other month, I had a exterminator come out. Now I spray the perimeter of my house myself so that's more money towards vacation, etc etc. It can be done. I have booked 2 cruises so far and checking out deals for the next two. Just be creative.

I buy gift cards for carnival on an app that gives me money back so every $100 costs me $96. It's 4% but it adds up. I do the same thing for Disney world. I buy gc from Sam's club to save money.

Good tips. I like the savings account just for travel and including travel in your budget. We have always done short trips like on a weekend or a 3 day weekend. It was affordable, but tiring since we drove to our destinations. I think our cheapest trip for a family of 4 was when we went on Megabus for $10 per person each way to NYC. The tolls alone to NYC are more than $80. We used public transportation there, stayed in Staten Island, and rode the ferry across each day. Of course, that was pre-covid. Now we just drive to other states and stay for a couple of days. This year was our first time actually staying a week at the beach and just relaxing. It was in March. We usually go to the beach during the off-season, when parking is free and hotel rates are low. I considered those timeshare vouchers but never did it. Now I won't, based on your experience. A cruise is next on our agenda to see if we like it. I have enjoyed your cruise vlogs.

Hey! We do the same thing with cruises. We try to take a cruise every other year. In the years we don't cruise, we take a trip (usually anywhere we can drive to within 4 hours.. living in Jax FL helps). We are always saving. It's just a good habit to have. I always tell folks that aren't accustomed to vacationing to start with a cruise. Cruising is easy to pay over time (up to 2 years) and it gives opportunity to see what you like.

Hey family,💕 Love and Blessings to you. I like cruising and will book it early so I have at least 1 yr to pay for it ( including excursions; dinner at the Steakhouse, drinks, pictures and my Pandora charm).I go for my birthday Jan 5 and will go by myself. I set money aside monthly and will work overtime, so come cruise time; I only need to buy souvenirs.

New subscriber! My husband and I are getting into travel now, we bought a home and focused on paying down debts to do that (and not increase them once we got into the home). We have been fixing up our home, furnishing and what not but are definitely ready to get back out there. I love the idea of the travel savings which we could easily do. Looking forward to viewing more of your content. LOL YESSSSSSS to the travel companions...baaabyyyyy talk about it! People get offended but it's REAL REAL!

Great tips. Something that i did was stop spending so much money on clothes. I researched capsule wardrobes and found i really enjoy having one. I also stopped buying a ton of makeup. I found some things that work for me and don't buy every eyeshadow palette that comes out. How many neutral eyeshadows does one person need? How many lipsticks do you really need? Changing the way i think about possessions such as clothes, purses, shoes, etc, really helped me realize how much money i could save just by reducing how much i buy. After that, it really seeped into other areas of my life. I don't own dozens of colors of nail polish. I don't have 5 or 6 different kinds of body lotion. And don't even get me started on eating out. Lord that's expensive. Minimalism and capsule wardrobes aren't for everyone but it really has helped me save a ton of money for travel.

Hubby and I are retired so we upped our vacation savings before we did retire. I worked for a school and he did too. I worked in the summer for extra money to pay off my credit card bills quicker. We would go on our trips during the week off of Thanksgiving and in the summer week that I didn't work. Christmas and Easter friday to Mon. worked too

This might be your guys's most powerful video you shot today that I've seen today and I should say and I was been watching for 2 or 3 days but you telling the truth that a lot of people don't want to hear you don't make enough money you got to look at what you're doing wrong and then start doing it right and then if it means getting new jobs to make more money to self services that you whatever you do to make that extra money but ain't nobody coming to give you money to do stuff or government ain't there that's not what the government's therefore I love this video keep it up

2 UP, 2 Down. Just 40 minutes down I-95. That's what's Up. Enjoyed the video. We had similar experiences in our quest to cruise more. I found the jewel you two dropped about, everybody isn't going to move the way you move and so when traveling with others you have to make sure that they're on the same level/page- to be on 100. That's a Fact. Putting that plan together and executing it is how to make it happen.

We had a Wyndham timeshare there in Williamsburg some years back (wife buckled under their pressure..lol). Sold it because timeshares really aren't worth it. Just book in advance and pay on vacation to make it painless if you cant pay it outright in full. Also, that keeps you from almost laying paws on the third pushy timeshare salesman that wont take no for an answer.

Great Tips and I completely agree bc its how I got started and now i travel 3-4times a year always paying on the next one. It has to be a priority in the budget and to take it up a notch I also always pay my bills for the next month so I don't come back to any major bills right away bc it doesn't add to that feeling of relaxation. I'm so proud of you'll and how you're going the channel and FYI y'all have been inspiring for me while I'm building my youtube channel @gratefulhearttravels so than you very much! It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s not my first love and I don’t reach for it when planning my personal travels. International all inclusives are my thing because I like cultural vacations. If you see me and hubby alone we are usually on a international vacation, if you see others with us…. It’s usually a cruise. Like I’ve said many many many times before, I enjoy it when I do it but it’s not what I reach for outside of group travel. Group cruises are lit! We encourage novice travelers or virgins to try cruising as its easier and less intimidating. It’s a great start and most fall in love with cruising. Now that I’ve gone on virgin voyages, that may make a cruiser out of me lol. You can have a first love and still enjoy something else as well. Plus… people have the right to change their mind based on experience too, anything and anyone that isn’t changing is dead.
