but honestly tho, i can see why the boys said this. if they started to review JRPG games on podcast it could introduce their fans to a new world of games they never knew about. obviously it sucks we never saw the boys run apex together, but at the end of the day it isn’t an apex podcast, it’s a japan podcast and JRPG reviews would fit in here perfectly.

@@yugiisama Most people know about JRPGs to some extent though. How many Trash Taste fans do you really think have never heard of/seen at least a few of these: Pokemon, Persona, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Yakuza, Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade, etc? The Soulsborne games are all technically JRPGs too. On top of that these guys have talked about Tales and Star Ocean before.
How about the gamers that are more like Connor? There's a ton of people who like games that are more centered around gameplay than their story and don't force story on you or have it as a roadblock to game progression. I'm like that, personally. I skip every cutscene in every game, and drop games if I don't enjoy the gameplay within the first few hours. I'm looking for a gameplay loop, not a story, when I get into a game. I hate turn based combat and can only get into collect-a-thon type things if they're not too egregious (like Korok Seeds in BotW), I don't really care about NPC dialogue unless it's necessary for progression or helps you get something beneficial, I don't care to dig into the lore of games too much unless I'm extremely invested already, etc. But I actually have a decently hard time finding games like that. the boys actually do talk about JRPGs a lot, way more than they have Connor talk about games like that which fit his type of gamers, b/c the fanbase has pushed this whole monkey brain thing on him and bullied him for it (obviously not actual bullying, ik ppl take that stuff seriously, this is obviously just in good fun), putting him up for a Clown award based on the premise of him skipping cutscenes for instance. He doesn't feel the presence of fellow monke-kin around him, so he doesn't allow the ape to flow from his being when he's recording these episodes.

I can relate to Connor. I don't know much about these things either, but they're fun. It's like having friends who are into tabletop games but you have never dabbled. Maybe one day.
