Local restaurant hurts even more because there's much more of a personal connection there. You really want to see it succeed and constantly churn out that amazing food

The local restaurant hurts more. You were going independent, swerving past the fast food chains on the town. You were supporting the local economy, but then they fired the chef or they left town. You still go to the local restaurant to help the folks that you probably know by name. The countless times that you've invested your time and money into something out of the comfort zone. Then you try the new food, it just makes you want to commit seppuku until you get the same food that you fell in love a long time ago.

I had the Mexican restaurant do that. We had the place we would go several times a month. It was so good. Went for years. The employees even knew us. They had pictures on the walls of customers and such. But then thry got new managers. They didn't even last half a year before they shut down. It went down hill very very fast.
Years go buy and this new Mexican restaurant opens. Not sure if they are related to the older one but they are doing extremely well and I never ever saw their parking lot do full when we go.

She wrote an letter, about how she was not mad, but disappointed that her favorite summer drink was ruined forever.
She got a reply. They change the recipe. And she got a free box with branded glasses and a huge package with a dozen or so of boxes with just green tea, directly from their food lab in like half a dozen different recipe variants.

The painful part is just knowing that you'll never have that specific food item again. If it's fast food or something where there's another of that restaurant _somewhere_ else in the world, you at least live knowing you can possibly have that again someday, even if realistically you may never actually go out of your way to get it. But with local restaurants there's only one of them, and when it changes, that change is permanent, for eternity.

Will never get what purpose these kinds of points are trying to make, beyond, 'You shouldn't care, have interest in or like it because you're now outside of their targeting demographic.'
Things 'kiddy,' that are socially acceptable/understood because they still keep their fanbase & consumers, while others are deemed/seen the opposite, since they don't have enough people continuing to care greatly for them.
Really, it's pretty unself-aware & ironic for some to not have identified their own objective 'kiddy interests,' when making hypocritical statements.
Talking generally, not just about the half-joking comment. Why people care to point out inane things about interests that don't harm anyone and they themself have no intention of having/continuing interest in, I have no clue.

I had a similiar moment before. My siblings and I would constantly buy a specific brand of chips/crisps. As it was the only one that was everywhere and that all three of us enjoyed (Siblings love salty food while I am overly sensitive to it).
One day when I ate one, I immeadetly spit it out. It tasted so salty that it hurt. My siblings didn't feel any difference so maybe it was just me. Thought so until my cousin ate one and stated that they tasted overly salty. Out of curiosity we contacted the manufacturer. Turns out they recently changed the salt brand they used. So in my case this was something that now actively prevent me from ever eating it again.

As someone who’s worked in the food service industry (specifically at a small family owned business), changes in formula/recipe definitely happen usually as a result of a supplier of a certain ingredient either increasing cost or the ingredient itself is unavailable or no longer viable (sometimes as a result of new government regulations). It’s unfortunate but hardly unusual. Restaurants try to retain the flavor of their menu items that customers love without cutting into their profits too much. It’s not a bad thing that Connor complained. That kind of feedback is vital. If the business owners know that their customers are unhappy with the product/menu changes then they will take that into consideration and make adjustments to make them satisfied.

Another thing to take into account is that your taste can change as you grow up. For example, I hated the Big Mac as a kid because of its special sauce but nowadays I like it.

@@wchan39 Yeah, taste buds can change, but if you've ever been in a situation like this, not necessarily with a company, it can be with your mother's cooking or something, then you'll know when something's been changed. It's easy to tell, especially if it's something that you really liked.

Oh man. Yes. Cravings take years and years to cement themselves in my subconscious - so the eventual aimless searching for that *something* I can't find anywhere anymore can be surprisingly bothersome. The constant want for something you can't have anymore can get oddly deep into my headspace for something that's just... it's just food, FFS, but I'm bothered.
Whether it's because the source is either not available (sad) or just doesn't taste the same (utmost betrayal) ,the sheer disappointment of finally making it to the source of the thing that's supposed to scratch your itch for the first time in a long while, or finally having spare cash to address a nameless craving, or just the build-up before you finally cave and decide to go get something and it then just being... *NOT IT* isn't a let-down I can adequately describe. It just bugs you on a deep background layer in the back of your mind that you can't address eventually, sometimes.
The lack of access to something that used to 100% be a source of good feelings is the main hangup for me, I think.

I get calls about our cans of nuts way more often than I think we should. People complaining about how some of the nuts are broken or if its mixed nuts how there isn't an even distribution of nuts. People will call about anything.

Now those slices don't exist anymore and it makes me sad every time I go visiting

I get what Connor is saying, cause Checkers had a seasonal peach cobbler milkshake and it was so good. I waited this year for it to come back and they never brought it back. I use to get it every year and it was so good. Also there was a place my older brother and i loved that sold Steam buns. Our teammates introduced us to it and so we would get it after matches with boba tea. For those three years we would go back and get the same thing. They ended up closing, so we tried going to another shop and it wasn't the same. I was so sad and I'm still am.
